Chapter 9: the real ending

Notes:

hi,

just a short read ahead!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Felix held on to Hyunjin tightly, nails digging into the white skin of his husband's shoulder as he moaned and cried at the same time.

In this light, there's just the two of them and no imperfection mattered. The scars on Hyunjin's skin, the faint shapes of two bullets that he survived through and gathered on the right side of this lower abdomen and right on his chest that almost killed him, all of the things that casted him with regret but Hyunjin turned into a promise—they all seemed to him low while their bodies rocked and their breathing entangled with each other.

“Are you ready, love?” Hyunjin breathed in his ear, making small kisses on his neck, making everything feel heavy and light at the same time. His head spinning, chest burning.

Felix was falling on his high and straight into Hyunjin's arms, and he couldn't ask for more.

“Y-yes,” He replied, closing his eyes as he stretched his neck to the side, exposing his scent gland to his husband in complete submission. “P-please, mate me. Mark me, Hyunnie.” He moaned breathlessly, body trembling in hot anticipation.

He felt Hyunjin smile on his skin, a low hum emitted from his sinful lips before his canines were felt grazing on the surface. “I love you endlessly, petals.” He murmured, low. A promise. One that wouldn't ever break. Not anymore.

Felix screamed in both pleasure and pain as the claiming bite took form over his neck, at the same time that his husband had unloaded his spent in him, locking their bodies together as his knot swelled inside. Tears wouldn't stop falling from his eyes as he held on to the taller for dear life. It was painful, but it felt sweet.

And he craved it more.

“T-Thank you, alpha,” He breathed slowly. “I love you so much.”

And all he could remember were soft kisses while Hyunjin whispered to him some praises and sweet nothings that planted themselves over Felix's chest and made it bloom into something beautiful, more meaningful.

He's finally mated. He's been claimed by the man he loved the most, and satisfaction along with something light and pale and right brewed strongly inside him, and this time, he's ready to hold on to it tighter.

Felix woke up to an excruciating pain from his stomach through the whole of his small body. He screamed, pulling onto his husband's bare arm, gritting his teeth so hard, the veins in his neck had never been more visible.

Instantly, Hyunjin awoke, attending to his needs with a rush. “Wife, what's wrong?” He asked, worried, but all Felix could answer in return was an even louder scream as another wave of excruciating pain kicked through him, sending all his parts limping.

He felt like he was being torn apart from the inside and he couldn't register much of what's happening until the next thing he knew was the sound of people panicking around him, and Hyunjin's worried face as he held Felix's hand. “You're doing so great, wife. Just a bit more, okay? You'll be just fine. I promise.”

The omega was too numb to even say anything. He couldn't even feel as the doctor literally opened his belly. His eyes were wide awake, and he could see everything, even the grave worry in Hyunjin's beautiful face, but there was no pain and he couldn't feel anything else aside from being groggy and exhausted.

The next time he blinked awake, there were little cries that were pouring out from a tiny body that had been lying on top of him.

Tears of pure happiness fell down from his eyes, pressing small kisses on the top of their daughter's tiny head while Hyunjin hugged the both of them, the alpha's eyes also glossy with tears.

“Thank you so much, wife,” He pressed his gentle lips on their tiny angel's forehead before Felix's, where it stayed lingering a lot longer. “I love you deeply. Thank you. Thank you.”

Felix's eyes stirred shut. He was so exhausted and he felt disgusting with all the sweat but it was worth it. Seeing this baby in his arms and his husband by his side, Felix had it all and he thanked all the heavens for everything that happened that led him there.

It was undeniable that he had been through so much, much like Hyunjin did. But in this moment, it felt as if everything had been worth it.

The wind blew, sweeping Felix's golden locks along and a nice touch of cold air kissed on his skin.

Felix put his pen down from where he had been writing on his little journal, a habit the therapist suggested he do to regulate or monitor emotions. He closed his eyes as he listened to the rustling sound of the garden, his beloved place looking as bright and as lovely as it had never been.

Never in his life did he think he would ever be this calm, this peaceful. He thought his life was meant to be lived in despair with every waking moment feeling as if dying once again. He thought he would stay there where he had been living in the darkness.

But there he was, sitting in his serenity with a heart full of love and a kind of peace that felt unreal, except that it was. It was real and it was his. His husband made sure that it would stay that way for as long as forever.

“Ma!”

A sound of a tiny voice made Felix open his eyes, turning his head to where his little girl was tracing with her little feet to get to him.

Behind her, her father followed with ease. A smile on his lips as he looked at Felix, while monitoring their toddler's steps.

That's right, Ami, their little Angel—just recently learnt how to walk and call Felix by Mama. Their darling who only knew how to call her father, was now running, waddling towards him calling out to him, too.

It's both bitter and sweet how fast the seasons change when one was happy.

“Ma!”

“Hi there, tiny love.” She giggled as Felix lifted her up, squeezing her small frame in his arms as he placed her in his lap.

“She's been looking for you after waking up from her nap,” Hyunjin shook his head, his arm automatically finding their way around Felix. “Hello, petals.” He whispered to him as he sat down beside the blond, pulling him close until he's leaning on the taller's chest.

“Hello yourself, my love,” Felix closed his eyes, inhaling Hyunjin's scent. A comfort. A home, real and sturdy made of his flesh and bones. “Since when are you here?”

“Just arrived early enough to see princess wake up,” The alpha played with Felix's golden locks, letting it slip through his fingers before kissing the ends of it. “What are you doing here, wife?”

Felix smiled. “Nothing. Just thinking,” He spoke honestly, letting Ami play with his hair, much like her father. Then he watched as she babbled nonsense to herself. “You're my happy ending.”

Hyunjin gave it to him. He made it possible for Felix to swim out of the grief and dolor that was drowning him. It still felt like a dream to be on the surface, only that it wasn't.

He really could breathe again without hating himself.

Hyunjin chuckled softly, a sound that had grown dear in his heart. “We're just getting started, love. We still have a whole life ahead of us,” He said, letting their daughter hold his fingers. “Just the three of us.”

Felix smiled back because it was true. The ending hadn't come. Right now, they were still at the beginning of their life together. A renewal of vow that their hearts would keep until it stopped beating.

To my Hyunjin,

My soul, my everlasting love, the only reason to keep on living; let's keep smiling for each other, being each other's peace and echoing each other's quiet in this promise of forever. And in the afterlife, let's carve each other's names in our hearts so we'll be together again in the next life, and the next ones after that.

You are all of my days, my every tomorrow and all else beyond. You are my endless love, my never-ending fairytale and I love you more than words could say. Deathlessly. Amaranthine.

Always.

Love, Hwang Felix.

Notes:

hallo!

I was debating whether to update this because I feel like it was unnecessary and too short to be called a chapter, but they do deserve a better ending than that from the last update. besides, I've already written this, it would be a shame to keep it to myself.

anyway, hope you had a great time reading this. I know it was a lot of tears and I was aware of the few minor loopholes, but it just wouldn't make sense to reiterate them. feel free to drop your questions instead, and I promise to answer once I have the time.

thanks for being with me on this! see you on the next one. :))
