Chapter Text
Bill Johns handed the copies of Popular Flying to his guests as they sat at his dining table.
“Remember I told you your Blue Laguna story couldn’t possibly be published in the form you told it to me,” he said. “It’s been published in altered form, ‘The Blue Orchid’. Location and sequence disguised, of course.”
“I see you’ve made the flowers the enemy in this one,” said Biggles, as he turned the pages with a half-smile. “I suppose it’s all for the best. The mysterious Professor runs off and meets an unthinkable fate. You've captured the effects of the poison very well, though. It's coming back to me. Ugh.”
“Smilee?” complained Algy. “Couldn’t you have thought of a better name?”
“You write it yourselves the next time,” invited Bill Johns.
“We’ll stick to aviating,” grinned Biggles. “But you do owe us a treat at the Savoy for helping your writing career to take off.”
