Robin is staying late in the studio with Steve tonight unfortunately , it’s not that she doesn’t love making music but she rather be at home cuddling up with her girlfriend watching a cheesy movie. The band recently moved to LA since it was where their labels headquarters is and Vickie moved here as well since she couldn’t stand Robin leaving her back in Indiana.
“Alright now we have to add the synth chords” Steve says to Robin eyes glued on the music program on the computer. “Okok count me off” Robin responds. He counts her off and Robin instantly locks in. “GOOD WORK ROB” Steve says clapping , “we’re almost done but I’m lowkey about to fall asleep , ima grab go some coffee or something you want some?” Steve asks grabbing his coat heading towards the door.
“Yeah just get me whatever you get hurry tho I’m about to fall asleep too” Robin says burying her face into her hands. They been here for 9 hours trying to finish these last songs. Nancy and Jonathan couldn’t show up because they had a family “emergency” Steve and her knew it was straight bs because those two have been acting a little too close lately…
As Robin struggles to keep her eyes open she does some adjustments to the song , fixing the pitch and volume stuff like that. She picks her bass up and puts the studio headphones on to re record her part. She looks down at her pocket and sees the ring maybe someday she will find the courage to ask her. As she is playing she hears the door open , excepting it to be steve she ignores it completely because she is fully locked in on recording this. She finishes and feels arms start to wrap around her neck from her back.
“VICK” Robin says standing up immediately and hugging her. “Hey cutieee” Vickie says back smiling hard. “Oh you don’t know how much I’ve missed you I feel like I haven’t seen you in years like holy sh-“ Vickie cuts her off by pressing her lips on her lover. Robin melts into the kiss and cups Vickie’s cheeks. “How are you holding up? You seem stressed…” Vickie asks.
They sit on the couch next to them and Robin lays her head on Vickie’s shoulder. “I’m fine I just want this album to be perfect…” Robin says back closing her eyes for a minute , “It’s gonna be perfect Rob you guys are the most talented people I’ve met” Vickie gives Robin a reassuring smile. “Thanks babe…do you wanna hear the song we were working on just now?” Robin ask excitedly , “of course!!! it’s probably gonna be the greatest song ive heard in my life.”
They get up from the couch and Robin sits on the office chair in front of the computer while Vickie stands next to her. Robin presses play on the computer and puts the volume up , “this song is called Juna , me and steve did all the little sound effects it was so fun until we got tired…” Robin says with a soft smile.
They only made it half way through the song until they were on top of each other. Robin still on the office chair while Vickie sits on her lap cupping her girlfriend’s face roughly kissing her. Robin put her arms around her lovers waist slowly moving up underneath her shirt. ‘You make me wanna slip off a new dress’ Nancy’s singing in the background echos through out the room.
“You make me wanna slip off a dress Robin Buckley” Vickie whispers into the girls ear. “You’re so beautiful Vick…” Robin says touching her girlfriend’s breasts making her moan. Vickie unbuttons Robins flannel and starts kissing her neck slowly and wet.
A new song starts playing , the drums starting it off. Robin pulls away for a second and speaks “this song is called water on your nose by the way” Robin tells Vickie , “I like the sound of it…but I like the sounds you make more” Vickie says back roughly pulling Robin’s collar into a kiss. As Robin is about to take Vickie’s blouse off , they hear the door open.
“Alright Rob I hope you enjoy Matcha , I was literally getting called performative by some fans when I left the cafe which is crazy I would never-“ Steve enters the studio looking down and when he looks up he sees Vickie on top of Robin , hair messed up and Vickie’s lipstick all over the taller girls face. “Am I interrupting something-? I-I can leave if you guys want…” Steve says slowing backing away.
“NO NO WE GOTTA FINISH THE SONGS MAN” Robin back, Vickie quickly gets off her girlfriend’s lap and adjusts her shirt. Robin buttons her shirt back up gets up from the chair , “S-so Vickie made nice surprise visit for support ya know…” Robin says with an awkward smile. “I think we have a different idea of support but hey vickie nice seeing you” Steve says giving vickie a smile and wave.
“So have you heard the new songs vickie? what do you think” Steve asks he was always asking people for feedback. “They are really good!!! You guys are actually so amazing omg” Vickie says glazing. Her and Robin are on the couch now with Robin’s arm around Vickie. “Steve why on earth did you get me this drink it tastes like straight grass” Robin says making a disgusted face expression as she takes another sip. “Well YOU told me to you whatever I’m getting you’ve taste buds just haven’t matured kid” Steve says enjoying his matcha.
“Ugh whatever unc” Robin says back rolling her eyes , “Can I try? It kinda looks good” Vickie says to Robin. “Oh trust me it’s everything but good” Robin says back to her girlfriend giving her the cup. “This is actually really good babe you seriously don’t like it!?” Vickie says shocked. “YOU SEE VICKIE GETS IT” Steve says getting up and giving Vickie a high five. “YOU BOTH ARE UNC WHY AM I THE YOUNGEST PERSON EVER” Robin back trying to defend her opinion while Vickie and Steve laugh and point at her.
“I’ll see ya tomorrow broski” Robin says waving bye towards Steve , “I’ll see you get home safe my favorite lesbians” Steve says back honking his horn and driving off. Robin puts her bass in the back of Vickie’s car and sits down in the passenger seat. “WOOO what a day…” Robin says , “you must be tired let’s go home and rest” Vickie says giving Robin a kiss on the cheek. “Wait Vick can I drive? I wanna show you something”
“Turn off that new playboi carti holy” Vickie says switching the radio channel , “Next up by the The Cicada’s My kind of women!!” The radio host says. “VICK IS YOUR SONGGGG” Robin says excitedly , “YAYY I LOVE THIS SONG” Vickie says smiling at Robin. “You’re my my my KIND OF WOMEN VICKIE YOURE MY KIND OF WOMEN” Robin says singing the lyrics to her lover making Vickie blush.
The song ends and Robin puts the car in park , “Where are we babe?” Vickie asks. “You’ll see…” Robin grabs Vickie wrist and takes down a trail and at the end of it is a view of the whole city. “Woah… it’s beautiful I never knew the city was this beautiful at night” Vickie says in shock. Robin turns to her and takes a deep breath “Vickie….” , This makes Vickie nervous is she about to break up with her? Did something bad happen? All these questions are running through her head until Robin speaks again and grabs her hands.
“You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me , meeting you changed my life and I love the life we built together so far you’ve always there supporting me and the band at every concert and interview you’re my biggest supporter and I love you for that and I love you for being you” Robin says fighting tears from her eyes. “So Vickie Dunne…..” Robin says as she gets on one knee and pulls out a beautiful diamond ring , “will you marry me?”
“Holy shit Rob y-yes YES I WILL MARRY YOU” Vickie says pulling her girlfriend into a hug and kissing her. “I’m so happy right now” Robin says as she starts tearing up , “So am I this was so unexpected like wow” Vickie says wiping the tears off Robins face. Robin puts the ring into Vickie’s ring finger and it fits her perfectly. “I honestly don’t know why I suddenly just built up the courage tonight I been trying to do this for the past 2 months” Robin admits , “2 MONTHS? I had no clue shit” Vickie says shocked “I’m glad you finally found the courage tho…” Vickie says giving her a soft kiss.
Who knew that a surprise visit would lead to a marriage proposal Vickie thought to herself.
The girl she randomly met after a gig was now her soon to be wife Robin thought to herself.
The two soon to be wives stand there hugging each other and crying happy tears. It’s late at night and it’s just them the city and city lights shining.
