Chapter Text
Trophy was fine. Trophy was 100% fine. The challenge was done so he got a well deserved break and went home. Trophy wanted to see Clover. Just wanted to check if she’s okay. He texted her asking where she was. He waited for her response pacing back and forth in their bedroom. God why am I stressing so much? I know she should be fine. He looked back onto his phone waiting. Maybe I should text her again..? He immediately shook his head. Stop being paranoid Trophy!
What have you become? She’s fine. She’s probably just working. Stop being a control freak! He scolded himself getting more frustrated as he paced back and forth a bit faster. Gosh why are you even freaking out it’s not a big god damn deal. It’s not like she’s hurt! But what if she is..? What if she doesn’t come home tonight..? He looked at his phone and reluctantly sent another text. “Hey are you there love?” He took a deep breath that admittedly did nothing to ease his worry.
What if she falls off a stupid cliff or gets attacked?! Gosh she’s literally the luckiest woman out there stop stressing.
Ding!
Trophy rushed over to his phone way faster than he’d like to admit feeling relief wash over him as he sees Clover texted back. “Just at the OSC. Not making much progress with the case :c” Trophy sighed before texting in a bit of a rush “Can you come home soon? Can I see you?” Trophy wasn’t sure why he asked he knows it most likely a no. But a part of him wants to be right next to Clover just in case something happens.
“You know you can’t but I should be home soon after a quick meeting!” Trophy felt his heart race. God he feels weird. He just wants Clover to be home now. He walked to the living room and sat on the couch patiently looking back at his phone and the front door. He started to hear a clock click every second how the fridge would make a noise every few minutes the constant buzzing from the lights. Was everything always this loud?

Clover just finished the meeting at the OSC. It wasn’t as quick as she thought it would be as they had a long discussion of safety due to the latest incident with Fan. Clover had to be there because well she was apart of the team to get evidence. Clover checked her phone which was previously on silent and saw 15 texts from Trophy?! Clover scrolled through the texts and which one was him asking if she was okay.
Clover looked at the texts before replying “Hey sorry it took way longer than expected !! But I’m a-okay! I’ll be heading home now !! ^^” send. It wasn’t long before she got a response “I’m glad! See you soon love.” She smiled before making her way back to their house.
Although it did have her thinking. Ever since the first incident with TestTube Trophy’s behavior has been different. It wouldn’t be noticeable to the normal person but to Clover it was like seeing snow in the hot desert. Clover had to admit something felt off about Trophy. Sure same old attitude but he was a bit more paranoid. His eyes lingered around a bit longer, he held onto her a bit tighter.
Maybe stress from the first incident especially since he was there to witness it. But he seemed to take it well at the time, unfazed even. But of course it takes emotions time to process. She gently shook her head, she doesn’t want to assume anything maybe she’s just overthinking it. And if she wasn’t hopefully Trophy will come around at his own time. She knows him as his lovable stubborn self, pushing him to admit anything especially emotional wise would just have him close off.
She snapped out of her thoughts when she noticed she was finally home. She gently opened the door and noticed Trophy just sitting on the couch staring into space. She walked up to him and when she still didn’t get a reaction she shook him and he immediately flinched before relaxing when he saw her. “Clover!” He placed a quick peck on her lips before leaning against her. She exhaled a breath she didn’t know she was holding gently combing his hair.
She felt him wrap his arms around her squeezing a bit as to double check if she’s still there. Something was wrong about him she just could tell. He doesn’t zone off often that rarely ever happens, he was the type who would prefer to always be doing something not just staring off. Clover shook off the thought placing a kiss on his head. “I’ll go make us some dinner-“ Trophy held on tighter when he heard her mutter those words.
“No you don’t have to. I’ll make us something just stay a bit longer with me.” Trophy mumbled digging his head into her ribs. “Alright I’ll wait a bit.” Clover agreed held onto him gently rubbing his back, running her hand up and down. Trophy carefully listened to Clover’s heartbeat. Still the calm rhythm it’s always been. Trophy held on like his life depended on it.
The light still hummed the clock still clicked and the fridge still made noise every few minutes but it was bearable. Trophy felt off, stressed, worried and just tired all day today. Trophy felt Clove shift as she got up he wouldn’t admit that he felt hurt she wanted to get up. “Alright dear I’m hungry so I’ll be making dinner now okay?” Trophy nodded as she walked towards the kitchen Trophy watched before quietly following behind.
As Clover started to cook some basic pasta she noticed Trophy just staring. She didn’t mind but it was a bit worrisome to her. Something had to be wrong, right? She paying attention to it as she needed to pay attention to the food to not burn it. As she started to make some homemade tomato sauce she felt Trophy wrap his arms around her and rest his hand on her shoulder. Clover didn’t mind much and continued making the sauce.
Once Clover finished cooking they ate in mainly silence. It wasn’t odd they often ate in comfortable silence with small talk from Clover talking about her day at work or something interesting but there wasn’t much to discuss. Trophy finished his food first and decided to take that opportunity to wash dishes for Clover. He washed his plate and soon Clover gave him her plate as well. She leaned against him as he washed the dishes. He was extra focused on it trying to distract him from the feeling of worry. It made him feel weak. Stop thinking like that he scolded himself.
Eventually dishes were done and the two headed upstairs to get ready for bed. “Ima take a shower love!” Clover announced to Trophy grabbing a towel before heading off into their bathroom. Trophy waited for her to finish so he could take a shower too. As he waited he started to feel a bit of dread form in his stomach. His heart pounded against his chest as if it was trying to escape. He felt dizzy in the worse way possible. Why though? He questioned himself despite knowing why the fear was there. He hated this feeling so much. He felt weak and he hated it.
He soon snapped out of his thoughts when Clover came out of the bathroom already done with her shower. How long did I zone out for? He grabbed himself a towel and disappeared into the bathroom to take a shower. He turned on the shower the warm water running down him. It was refreshing and the wake up call he needed. It pulled him out of his thoughts as made him focus on the present for now.
Once he got out the cold air struck him like a slap. He slightly shivered before drying himself off and changed into a white shirt and red pj pants. He walked back into the room seeing Clover sit there im bed patiently waiting for him. He got into bed right beside her, she placed a kiss on his lips “Goodnight love.” “Goodnight.” Trophy stared into the ceiling as silence slowly fills the room. He shuts his eyes and let sleep pull him in.

Trophy and Clover were on a date. It was sunny and peaceful. Trophy held onto his Girlfriend’s hand as they went on a walk together. Trophy was happy. He was with the woman of his dreams on a date. The two started to walk towards the forest together their favorite area to hang out. The two found a pretty looking waterfall and decided to relax there for the time. They set up a small picnic at a nearby tree.
As they got cozy and started to enjoy themselves the sky had turned a gloomy color. No longer the sunny day it originally was. The two didn’t mind though as the clouds looked nice in the sky. A beautiful gray color so they didn’t see much to worry. As they ate it started to get breezy causing Clover to shiver. Trophy worried, wrapped his arms around her to try to keep her warm as they didn’t bring jackets. The wind began to get worse as the sky grew darker, the two decided to retreat and head back home.
As they packed up it started to pour down heavy onto them. They quickly started running back home, the wind current picked up as the two fought against the wind. They held onto each other hands as the harsh winds loosening their grip. Of course with these conditions they could only hold on for so long as their hands slipped. “Clover!!” Trophy called out reaching his hand out while trying to keep balance.
Clover had fallen and struggled to get up due to the harsh weather. Trophy heard a creak and in the corner of his eye saw a tree tip towards Clover. He felt his breath hitch. Move. Why can’t I move?! Move dang it! Trophy started to internally scream at himself but his feet stayed planted onto the ground. He felt helpless as the tree slowly fell onto Clover.
She screamed as it crashed onto her. Move. Please move! He couldn’t though and just watched in horror as Clover beg for help.

Clover couldn’t sleep much. She’s woken up a few separate times throughout the night. She decided to go in her phone and go down memory lane as she looked at old pictures of her and Trophy. She smiled at the old memories. As she scrolled she felt Trophy shifting around quite a lot. She looked over at him, he was making quiet noises of discomfort tears forming in his eyes.
Was he having a nightmare? She gently shook him waking him up. His eyes shot open gasping for a breath. His eyes landed on Clover he desperately wrapped his arms around her. Clover would admit she wasn’t sure what to do. Trophy never has had a nightmare before with her she would argue he probably just doesn’t get them ever.
Trophy held on tightly, it all felt so real. He watched her get crushed and didn’t do anything about it. Clover placed her hand on his face gently lifting his head up to look at her. “What’s wrong love?” She whispered rubbing her thumb back and forth, he gently looked away. “You’ll think I’m stupid if I tell you.” He answered Clover shook her head “I would never think your stupid Trophy.” Clover placed a kiss on his cheek. Trophy sighed hesitating to tell what’s wrong.
“I’m just worried of losing you. I know that sounds stupid you’re literally the most lucky person everyone ever met but..” Trophy pauses god why did he even start talking? He should’ve just kept quiet. “I’m just scared oh something happening to you. Two people have nearly died in less than a few days and I’m scared something will happen to you.” Clover hummed waiting for him to continue “I had a dream where you were crushed and there wasn’t anything I could do.” He had tears start running down. God stop crying! You probably look so stupid. It was just a stupid dream after all!
Clover placed a kiss in the corner of his eye as she started to play with his hair something he found soothing. “Thats not stupid.” She offered a comforting smile to him. “Don’t worry I won’t get hurt we’re both safe.” Clover pulled Trophy towards her to use her other hand to rub his back. “You don’t know that.” Trophy argued “I may not but I can say for sure my luck got us.” Clover didn’t like to use her luck that much anymore but she couldn’t stand to watch Trophy be worried.
“I’ll be right here, I’ll always be with you. I’m not going anywhere.” Trophy felt his shoulder relax as Clover continued to play with his hair. “Promise?” “Promise.” Trophy had a faint smile barely noticeable. Clover wiped away his tears “so no more crying alright love?” Trophy nodded a bit embarrassed that he started crying “Whatever.” He chuckled out.
She continued to tangle her hands into his hair as Trophy nuzzled against her, resting his head against her chest. The same calming heartbeat. He exhaled in content as it proved she was right there, breathing, alive. He could protect her nothing bad will happen. He started to think what his past self would say to him. Probably call him a softie, a weakling, ask what happened to him. But he didn’t mind at this point. He had the most beautiful woman he’s ever laid his eyes on with him. It doesn’t matter what he used to think.
Trophy sighed in happily slowly falling back asleep.
