Chapter Text
Back Sapphire Cookie was walking along one of the countless hallways in the spire, humming something to himself and twirling his staff through the air. As he was just passing besides an open door, somebody grabbed Balck Sapphire by his collar and dragged him into a dark room.
He huffed irritably and complained:"Excuse me? What was that for? You probably just ruined my hair!"
"Who cares? Its ugly anyways!" "You little-" His kidnapper interrupted him by pressing their Index finger on his mouth and giving him a serious glare. "This is important." Black Sapphire huffed and took a few steps back. "Fine. What is it?"
Candy Apple Cookie, who he could now make out in the badly lit room, leaned in and whispered: "Its about Master Shadow Milk Cookie! Hes been.....acting weird, recently."
Black Sapphire raised an eyebrow. "So.... everything as usual?"
Candy Apple huffed and shook her head. "A different weird. Like-like think of yesterday. .."
The day before
The door to the Shadow Milk Cookie's room opened with a creak and Candy Appte slowly walked inside."Master! Are you in here?"
She looked around the room and spotted Shadow Milk standing next to a mirror, looking a little out of place. She quickly ran up to him.
"Master! There you are! I havent seen you in a while! What are you working on?"
She hopped in front of him, still careful to stay at a distance. After all, Shadow Milk liked his personal space. Mentioned beast now turned around and she almost gasped at the sight of him.
His hair stood out in all directions, the eyes in it darting around the room. His unnerved expression turned into a slight smile that looked very unsettling on his face.
"Oooh! My dear...eh...minion! How have you been faring?" Candy Apple Cookie raised both eyebrows.
Was this some kind of trick? The last time Shadow Milk had asked her about her well-being had been after he had tested that one potion on her.
She shivered at the thought. She had glowed neon yellow for the entire day, much to Black Sapphires amusement.
"Ehhhh...good? I mean- amazing! Just like always! What about you, master?"
He nodded to himself and gave an even brighter smile. Okay... this was starting to get really creepy."I'm great! Truly great. So...um."
He looked behind her and spotted Black Sapphire Cookie standing in the doorframe.
"Ah! Black Sapphire. You are here as well!" Black Sapphire slowly approached and bowed. "Master. Do you require our help?"
There were a few seconds of awkward slilence before he replied: "Actually, yes. Excuse my memory, but do we happen to have... any books on souls in here, perchance?"
Candy Apple couldve sworn she felt her jaw touch the floor. She and Black Sapphire, who also looked mildly unsettted, exchanged a glance, before Black Sapphire cleared his throat and hoarsely replied:
"No. No, we do not. Master, you burnt all the books in here a few centuries ago." Shadow Milk pressed his lips together. "Ah-yes. How could I forget?"
Yes, how could he forget? Shadow Milk Cookie hated books. Candy Apple couldn't name a lot of things that he hated more than them. Her string of thoughts was interrupted by her Master clearing his throat.
"So, my dearest subservient vassals, I would be very pleased if you could leave me... alone please. To think, of course. Yes, need a plan. For world domination. Deceit will rule the world, hmm hm."
With that, he turned towards the table standing in the middle of the room. Candy Apple Cookie just stared at him and blinked a few times. Did he just say please??? She was about to reply something but Black Sapphire very rudely grabbed her by the collar and dragged her out of the room.
She stared at him with a razor-sharp gaze and, when he didn't react, simply stuck her tongue out at him. Black Sapphire grunted and set her down."We dont want to disturb Masters thinking." he simply stated and walked down the hallway. Candy Apple Cookie turned around to look at the now closed door to Shadow Milk's room and then strutted down the hallway after Black Sapphire.
The present
Black Sapphire shrugged "it's probably nothing. Maybe Master's practicing for some grand new scheme?"
Candy Apple shook her head in dismissal."What kind of scheme would require master to say PLEASE?"
Black Sapphire rolled his eyes "Come on, its not that unusual. Its probably just-"
Their conversation was interrupted by their master himself who stuck his head into their hideout. "Hello there!" Candy Apple recoiled and almost fell over. "MASTER! Ah- hehe. Didnt expect YOU here. Hah."
Her Master just smiled at her brightly again(was this a ritual now?) and completely opened the door. "Oh, my minions! There you are! Ive been looking for you the whole morning! You see, i have a plan now."
Black Sapphire layed his head to the side, clearly intrigued:"Well, what is it?" "The three of us-"he stretched the words for theatrical effect"-are going to the Vanilla Kingdom!"
There were a few seconds of uncomfortable silence before Black Sapphire quietly asked:"Thats...the whole plan?" Shadow Milk looked at him, stunned, before quickly waving it off with his hand."Of course not! The rest ofthe intriguing plan will reveal itself with time. "
Candy Apple looked like she had just been forced to bite into the most sour lemon of all time "What do you want in the VANILLA KINGDOM, Master?"
Shadow Milk looked over at her as if it wasobvious:"Take over it, of course! And take revenge from...Pure Vanilla Cookie, what did you think?" Candy Apple stared for a few seconds before grinning. "That sounds amazing! When are leaving?"
Shadow Milk Cookie replied excitedly: "Whenever you'd like!" Though she couldve sworn she heard him silently add:"As fast as possible, please."
She nodded."Amazing! Come on, Black Sapphire! Lets pack our things!" Black Sapphire wanted to remark that they practically had nothing to pack, but she already stormed out of the room. Well, as long as she wasnt making up conspiracy theories.
Although, he had to admit, their master was truly acting..not like himself, since yesterday. And he almost hadnt seen Shadow Milk the week before.
Whatever, thinking too much was dangerous, and even more so when doubting your superior.
