Chapter Text
After about 2 weeks of the same routine everyday things shifted.
It was evening, the bright signs glaring in the window from outside.
“The weather’s pretty today, I love the rain.”
Haru smiled and said
“Yeah.”
Kyo responded with a hint of joy in his voice, different from the usual monotone.
Haru sat there drinking his coffee, the knot in his stomach making it almost unbearable to look at Kyo.
Meanwhile every time Haru did look at Kyo he spiraled.
“This shouldn’t feel like this”.
「どうしてこんなに緊張するんだ…」
(“Why am I this nervous…?”)
It was quiet most of the time, one of them occasionally making a comment.
「…静かだね。」
(“…It’s quiet.”)
Kyo thought.
Haru noticed Kyo’s eyes lingering on him but redirecting when he noticed.
His mouth moved faster than his mind, Haru said.
“I don’t want this to end”
Kyo’s eyes widened slightly but then went back after he realized he reacted.
His hands tightened around his cup.
“Me neither..”
Haru internally scolded himself.
“Think before you say, why did I say that to him.”
The night progressed and eventually time was up.
They each got up and began putting their coats on.
“Uh, your sleeve.”
Kyo hesitated then reached over to fix it.
Both their heartbeats went up, Haru dumbfounded and Kyo unsure why he felt the need to do that.
“It can’t be just work.”
Haru needed to do something, anything.
Haru blurted out as they stepped outside.
「待って、京!」
(“Wait, Kyo!”)
Kyo spun around startled by the sudden shift in his tone.
“Kiss me.”
Kyo had so many thoughts in his head right now.
“What.?!”
Haru talked more clearly now.
“Rule seven”
The realization hit Kyo.
“You want the special contract just to kiss me…?”
Haru nodded.
“This is ridiculous… and yet my heart won’t stop racing.”
Kyo sighed
He handed Haru a paper and Haru signed it without a second glance.
“Ok listen, this is strictly professional, no feelings or any further just a simple kiss.”
Kyo was now aware how much his heart was racing.
Slowly Haru leaned in until their lips met.
The kiss was soft at first then gradually Kyo leaned in and it became mutual.
Instinctively Kyo’s hands shifted to Haru’s arm and Kyo became aware how much Haru’s heart was racing as well.
Eventually they pulled away and Kyo came back to reality.
“this was work… it shouldn’t have been…”
Kyo gasped, feeling his chest tightening.
“I'm sorry, our times over today.”
Kyo raced away feeling a panic attack incoming but still unable to erase the feeling of Haru’s lips on his.
Meanwhile Haru was left behind.
“He’s gone… but I can still feel him.”
