“Hello?” Nya answered the phone.
“Nya! We have been trying to get in contact with you” Maya said over the phone.
“I didn’t have my phone on me. Is there a reason why you guys kept calling me?” Nya decided to play along for now. Wanting to hear what Maya was going to say to her. Kai, Cole and Jay stayed quiet as they listened.
“Oh. Well, I was thinking that you could bring Jay over for dinner instead” Maya told her.
Nya, Cole, Kai and Jay all looked at each other. Hearing the world ‘instead’ didn’t seem like a good sign.
“What do you mean by instead?” Nya pressed on. It got quiet over the phone for a second.
“Well.. I just was thinking that I haven’t seen Jay a while. It would be nice to see him” Maya said innocently to her. Nya just frowned.
“So. Instead of Kai then? Is that what you are saying? Why?” Nya questioned her. The four of them heard Maya sigh over the phone.
“Look… Your father saw Kai this morning. And he told him some not so great news… He is probably keeping it from you. But he is sick.. There is something wrong with him..” Maya tried to explain to Nya. Nya felt close to breaking her phone.
“What the heck?!” Jay shouted out then he quickly covered his mouth with his hands.
Kai just felt hurt again. Maya felt the same way as Ray. He did want to know, but at the same time he didn’t.
Kai tensed up a little when he felt Cole’s arms wrapped around his body. He looked at him and relaxed into his touch.
“Wait.. Was that Jay? Am I on loudspeaker” Maya asked Nya a bit surprised.
“Oh, yeah. Cole and Kai are here too, Maya” Nya said angrily to her. The line went quiet again.
“Take me off loud speaker” Maya said Nya firmly, but Nya didn’t.
“And why should I? There is nothing wrong with Kai! He is not sick! You’re the one who is sick. What kind of mother.. no, what kind of person are you?!” Nya yelled angrily.
“Yeah! You guys go on about how happy to have Kai and Nya again, and then you just like..” Jay stopped mid sentence as he tires to think what to say “Like, treat Kai like he is nothing now!” He finished his sentence. The line went quiet once again.
“Look. Nya. Let’s not do this over the phone. Just come over for dinner tonight and we can talk about it then” Maya chose to ignore Jay.
“No. How about this, I don’t want to see you or Ray again and to never to speak to the both of you again” Nya told her angrily. Saying the exact some thing that Ray told Kai this morning.
“Maya.. You and Ray don’t even deserve to have Kai and Nya as your children. I can’t believe they are even related to people like you. This might sound cruel, but I think they were better off growing up without parents like you” Cole stated firmly as he kept a good close hold of Kai.
Kai, Nya and Jay were a bit surprised by what Cole just said, but Cole wasn’t wrong. They agreed 100% with him. Kai finally decided to speak now.
“Ray and you deserve each other. Good luck living a miserable life together” Kai told her simply. He didn’t care about her or Ray anymore. It still sucked that they didn’t accept him, but there wasn’t much you could do about it. They weren’t going to change. Nya hangs up on Maya. She goes into her contacts and blocks both Ray’s and Maya’s number, and also deletes the numbers.
“You okay, Kai?” Jay asked Kai suddenly. Kai smiled slightly and nodded his head.
“Yeah. I’m good. It sucks, but I’m good” Kai just shrugs his shoulders.
“Where’s your phone?” Nya asked Kai. Kai raised a brow at her.
“Uhh. Why?” Kai questioned her confused.
“So I can block them and delete their numbers” Nya told him.
“It’s not like they are gonna contact me” Kai rolled his eyes. Nya just keeps staring at him.
“Fine” Kai huffed as he takes out his phone from his pocket and handed it over to his sister. She takes it from him then she blocks and deletes their ex-parents numbers. It went quiet between the four.
“Sooo, now what?” Jay asked the three of them. Nya finished what she needed to do on Kai’s phone and handed it back to her brother. Cole tried to think of something.
“How about we have a pizza night tonight? And watch a bunch of movies all night?” Cole suggested to them.
“But that is still hours away. What do we do until then?” Jay asked him. Then the four of them heard a stomach growl.
“Or maybe order pizza early?” Jay suggested to Cole with a chuckle.
“That wasn’t me” Cole told him. Jay looked at Nya and Nya shakes her heard. Jay then looked at Kai.
“Dude? Was that you?” Jay asked bit surprised.
“Yeah, well. I did skip breakfast and I wasn’t really hungry for lunch” Kai shrugged his shoulders casually. Acting like it isn’t a big deal.
“What?! I am making you a sandwich” Nya got off the bed.
“Whoa, Nya. Chill. I can wait until we have pizza tonight. It isn’t that far along” Kai shrugged his shoulders again. But Nya gives him a cold stare. Kai felt defeated now.
“Uh.. Yeah.. I guess a sandwich wouldn’t hurt.. just no tomatoes” Kai smiled slightly as he rubs the back of his neck a bit nervous. Nya nodded her head then she left the room and makes her way to the kitchen to make Kai a sandwich. Plus a snack to go with it. Jay watched Nya leave then he looked at Cole and Kai.
“Well, I’m gonna go let Zane know that we are having a pizza night tonight. It was his turn to cook dinner” Jay told the two of them then he left the bedroom to go find Zane.
Kai sighed and relaxed against Cole again. A lot has happened today. A lot. He felt Cole hold him closer. If that was even possible. Since they were already super close. But he was now comfortable and more relaxed than before. He was tensed and a bit stress before the phone call.
“We were gonna watch a movie, but since we will be watching movies tonight. Is there anything you wanna do until then?” Cole asked Kai.
“I don’t know.. Maybe play that video game that Jay got yesterday?” Kai suggested to him.
“Well, I did kinda play some of it a while ago. But I don’t mind playing it again” Cole told him.
“We don’t have to play it then. We could play an old game we haven’t played for a while” Kai suggested another game instead. Cole nodded his head.
“Sure, but you should have your lunch first” Cole told him. Kai just rolled his eyes.
Cole and Kai stayed in each others arms for a little while longer then they got out of bed and left the room together. Nya was finished with making Kai’s sandwich and had cut up an apple into slices for a side. Kai thanked her and took it into the living room with Cole. Kai ate his sandwich and apple slices as he watched Cole play a solo game until he finished eating.
Once Kai finished the food. Cole started up a different game. It was a fighting game of course. They both played the game for a few hours then decided to take a break. They went outside in the training area. To get some fresh air and to stretch out. They spared for a while until it was finally time to order the pizza for the pizza movie night.
Kai and Cole met up with Jay, Nya, Zane and Pixel in the living room. Lloyd and Sensei Wu weren’t around at the time. They were doing some bonding training thing; they wouldn’t be back for a couple of days.
Everybody got comfortable once the pizza was finally delivered. Kai and Cole were sitting on the couch next to each other. Nya sat on Kai’s other side and Jay sat next to Nya. Zane told Pixel to take the armchair. He didn’t mind sitting on the floor. But Pixel refused, she sat down on the floor next to Zane.
Once they chose a movie, they all relaxed and ate pizza. Except for Zane and Pixel. Since they didn’t need to eat food. They watched a few movies throughout the night. They watched some action movies and some comedy movies. It was a very good pizza movie night. Something that Kai really needed. He felt lucky to have them. They were his true family. He wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world.
