Chapter Text

The newcomer's eyes scrutinised Millie's form, her attention pausing on some parts of the goth's attire, Millie could notice the curiousity in the other's eyes, nearly everyone who looked at Millie held curiousity and...concern. But this girl's gaze was different, it was almost like how Dylan looked at her when they first met, but she was probably just overthinking the whole situation...

The red streaked girl placed her hands onto the table, the smirk on her face seemed to get slightly deeper as she loomed over the other.

"So...."

She began, her voice was quite strong for a female, it held power, vigour.

Why was this girl here. How have I never seen her before, I have to have seen her before...maybe she is just...in a different grade than me.

"Are you that 'Dracula's daughter' that I've heard about? The whole appearance is..."

She gestured towards the whole... gothic attire that Millie was situated in with one rough, calloused hand. Millie sighed at the words, it was her first day back at school, and this is what she was greeted with? The girl was going to say a hostile retort, but she stopped herself...she promised that bear that she would act like a better person, and this could be the first step towards fulfilling that task.

"It's Millie...my name is Millie...not 'Dracula's daughter', not 'Silly' or...anything else you have heard."

She tried to smile politely, but it was obvious it was forced...her smile did not quite reach her chocolate coloured eyes, her words felt foreign on her tongue, she wasn't use to responding to that question in any manner that wasn't rude.

The newcomer smiled, pleased at Millie's response, she extended an arm out towards the other, seemingly trying to act 'cool'. It fell flat, at least in the goth's opinion.

"Well, Miss Millie. I'm Cruzerio, Lara Cruzerio;"

The girl, now known as Lara, said her name like it was a name of importance. Millie recalled back towards the words of Mr Calvin...this was probably that Lara that did that mile in a time Millie could never imagine herself doing, she was sure this girl was that, the build practically gave it away. Millie looked at Lara's hand with distain in her eyes, she didn't make any move to shake it, she wasn't one to shake strangers hands... especially a stranger like...this.

Lara frowned at the lack of reciprocate from the other, but that was quickly hidden by her ever present smirk. She let her hand move down towards her side, her eyes gleaming with a predatory look that Millie was all too familiar with.

"How come I've only just seen you around here? I go around this area everyday, and I'm only seeing you now."

Why is she saying that like she owns the place.

I've been here longer than her, she probably has her own area to be at, why did she come towards me of all people.

"I've been ill, I haven't came to school since we came back from winter break, why does that matter...why are you...here, I've never seen you around school before...are you in a different grade or something?"

"Wow, slow down with the questions, you're making my head spin."

Lara said in an jesting tone, waving a hand dismissively.

"Okay, here is the answer for your first question; It matters because I'm curious, can't a girl be curious? Second question, I don't think so, I have only been at this place since winter break ended, my mother found some job that was better than one she had previously, and the houses are nice here, we had been wanting a new change of scenery after..."

She trained off, a hint of.... sadness, noticeable in her expression.

"I'm getting off track, but I've not been here very long, okay, does that satisfy you, miss Millie, or do I need to take a seat and get comfortable for more questions."

Millie was curious at the other's sadness, but she decided that pushing would probably make the other girl worse, and why would she even care about why this girl was sad...she quickly shook her head at Lara's final words, Millie wasn't that big on someone sitting with her at the moment.

"No. No, that's not necessary, at all."

The red streaked girl huffed at the response, but she did nod at the words, seemingly holding some respect. She finally stopped hovering over the table; brushing herself off before flipping her glasses down from her head to go over her eyes, she made her hands into finger guns, pretending to shoot at the other, making small clicking sounds as she did so.

"Welp...If ya' say so..."

She paused, before turning around, intending to walk away.

"I'll see you around, yeah?"

Millie didn't respond, she just watched Lara walk way with an utter dumbfounded face. She seriously hoped that was a one time experience. She looked towards the clock, she still had ten minutes to eat her food, which she started to do. The next class she had was American history...Millie wasn't the best at the subject, but she knew getting the thing done would mean she could go home faster...She just wanted it to go quickly.

Notes:
