Chapter Text
Chapter 4😈
It was almost evening and the hotel lobby was pretty calm . . . For the most part. Near the reception desk was the radio demon and “feared” king of hell, bickering like always. Usually the two would have small quarrels, it’s was very entertaining for some guests. Though, Charlie could never figure out as to why the pair almost always fought. Maybe, if she could manage to make them get along they would stop hating each other! She then thought long and hard about a plan. But first, she needed to see if her idea was really REALLY worth doing.
“Vaggi! I’ve got an amazing idea I can’t wait to tell you about!” She exclaimed while running over to her girlfriend.
“Hm? A new idea?”
“Yeah! I think you’ll really like this one.”
The two went their bedroom to speak in private.
“Alright, so what’s this new thing you wanna tell me babe?” Vaggi asked as she closed the door.
“So, y’know how my dad and Alastor don’t really get along well, right?”
Right when Vaggi heard those two mentioned in the same sentence, she had a feeling that this might not be one of Charlie’s best ideas. And to why that is? Alastor, almost always makes sure to annoy Lucifer in any sort of way. Lucifer, in return also annoys Alastor and has managed to make him swear which is decently rare. Obvious to her, they were not a good duo.
“Well, what if I make them participate in extra friendship activities!” Her eyes practically beamed with joy.
“Um, Charlie I think it’s very thoughtful of you but I don’t think that they would actually do the activities.”
Vaggi was right. If anything, her idea would probably make them argue even more.
“Yeah, you’re right. But I can’t just keep having them argue like that!”
“That’s fair. I mean you could try and have them talk it out.” Vaggi responded.
“Wait. . . That’s perfect!” Charlie exclaimed. “Babe, you’re a genius!”
“Thanks Charlie, well I’ve gotta get back since we’re gonna close in a hour or so. You should go pitch that idea of yours before we do.”
As they stood up to leave the room, Charlie planted a short but sweet kiss on vaggi’s forehead.
“I’m so lucky to have you as my girlfriend.”
“Me too.”

Alastor and Lucifer were still having their little unfriendly chat as Charlie approached them. Funny how they both saw her as their own daughter. Except for then fact that one of them were actually blood related.
“So dad, Alastor. Could you try to talk it out between you two? You guys don’t always have to fight.”
“Charlie, it’s really sweet of you but I don’t think bellhop over here can do anything else that annoy me.” Said the king with an angry grin towards the sinner.
“And, I don’t think the king has anything else inside of that small head of his.” He smirked back.
“Oookay, anyways I was thinking that you two should try and make up by going on a nice walk together!”
.
.
.
The pair went dead silent. Not a single word out of their mouth.
“Charlie, uh-are you sure that’s really necessary?”
“For once I agree with the king.” Alastor said, slowly backing away from him.
Okay, this time she has to get them to make up. Yeah they always bother each other, annoy one another, have matching hate mugs, and an entire musical number about how the other sucks and they’re better. . . That’s a lot, But! They have great potential to be best friends if she helps them out! Plus, she just wants her dad to be happy, like back then. Alright let’s do this!
“Nope! You two are going to talk it out on a walk, and that’s final.” She said pushing them closer to the door.
“Dear, there are other ways. We can just stop arguing if that’s what you’d like.”
“Dad, Al. Please just this once?” At this point they were almost at the door.
Lucifer sighed, “Alright then.” He said walking out the door.
Alastor was hesitant, followed the king soon after. They didn’t have to worry about people seeing them since it was already midnight. They said their goodbyes and left onto the streets under the dark red ashy sky.

The first two minutes into the walk were silent, the only noises being their footsteps and the soft blowing wind. Neither of them spoke a single word. Well, considering that just two before they caught themselves in a very awkward situation where it seemed that Alastor had cared for Lucifer. To put it in short, they both saw each other not in their usual state and decided to help the other. Anyways back to that walk.
“So uh. . . Are your injuries okay?” Lucifer broke the silence.
“Very straight forward I see! Now why would i -“
The king cut him off,” Al, I’m serious. Are you okay?” This time he looked up at the radio demon, though Alastor didn’t look back.
He hesitated to respond. When was the last time he heard someone ask that? Lucifer didn’t look away, still waiting for an answer.
“The injuries are healing fine.”
“Good to know then.” A soft smile formed on his face as he looked away.
“What about you, sire?”
“Huh?”
“Are you perhaps doing okay?” This time Alastor face his gaze towards the king.
“Uh-yeah! I’m fine now.”
The silence eventually came back and stayed for quite a while. The clouds were getting darker as the two passed through the now quiet city. Soon after they walked by a tv playing an advertisement for Vox Tex.
The overlord mumbled something under his breath,”that stupid iPad and his screens.”
Lucifer noticed this and laughed a little bit. Mostly because they hated the same person.
“Y’know I find it funny how I came to the hotel absolutely hating me and now. . .”
“Do you still hate me?” Alastor asked jokingly.
“Well. . . Maybe not as much as I used to. Do you hate me red guy?”
Strange. A soft warmth came upon the sinners face. Recently, his hatred for the annoying duck obsessor has dropped all of a sudden. Instead of seeing him as a nuisance like he usually would, he saw someone who cared for others more than he cared for himself. Though, seeing him annoyed was kind of cute.
“I’ve taken a liking to you recently, your highness.” He smiled softly.
As they kept walking throughout the city they passed by a closed flower shop. There was an outdoor display of a few bouquets. One of the arrangements in particular had a mix of red, yellow, and golden flowers. The red ones had sharp piercing teeth in the middle while dull thorns surrounded them. All together, they made a cute heart shape from the red flowers with the golden ones in the middle and the yellow ones all around.
“These flowers are so pretty!” He said, scrambling to take out his phone.
The overlord whispered something under his breath, “like you”
“Hm? Sorry what’d you say, I didn’t hear.” Lucifer asked, turning around to face him.
Flustered, Alastor turned away and continued to walk down the vacant street. “Nothing sire, let’s continue with this walk now.”
The clouds turned into a burgundy shade of red a boiling specks of water slowly started to come down. The two carried on with their little chat, talking about things like how the hotel is doing, nagging each other jokingly, and tea. Though it was mostly nagging. They got closer together, literally and figuratively. As the pair kept walking along their hands slightly gazed against the others.
“Oops-sorry about that.” Lucifer spoke.
“No need for apologies.”
They didn’t talk much after that. They didn’t really need to since the moment was already awkward enough due to the fact that the radio demon was holding onto the kings finger. Though, the rain surely was starting to pour down, hitting their intertwined hands.
Alastor raised his other hand towards the sky, “It seems that it’s started to rain. We should start to head back.”
“Damnit. I don’t have an umbrella on me.”
“It’s fine. As long as we hurry up-.”
As Alastor spoke, the king raised one of his wings above himself and the overlord. He looked away flustered while still being held onto by the sinner beside him. The two didn’t speak at all. Just the rain, their footsteps, and the soft wind around them. At this point, Lucifer could practically die of embarrassment. This whole”walk to make you guys friends!” Thing was getting a bit too lovey-dovey. Especially since he heard what the red guy said to him earlier. He was so in shock that it took him an entire minute to realize that Alastor had called him pretty. Honestly, awkward was an understatement now. Because blushing like crazy and hold onto the others hand in a way that’s not really “friend” like is not something that usually happens.
Though it wasn’t as bad as how the radio demon was doing at that moment.
[Why the HELL would you call him pretty out loud?!?!] He was still taken back by the fact that they were currently interlocking hands together. Similar to the one he was crushing on, these feelings alone were enough to make the sinner explode. Even though you couldn’t see from afar, he was most definitely blushing.

The pair arrived at the hotel door after a while. The sky had already dimmed, though the downpour showed no sign of stopping. As they stepped underneath the awning the two eventually had to let go of the others hand. Other than the rain it was completely silent. Lucifer for the door handle and then opened it.
The hotel lobbys lights were turned off and not a single sinner in sight. I mean considering it was already 11:42 everyone should be asleep by now. They walked into the lobby while Alastor closed the door behind them.
“Uh. . . Thanks for tonight.” The king whispered softly.
“I could say the same thing too, sire.”
Both went up the staircase towards their own bedroom. Before the two parted ways into the hallways they turned to face each other, though the radio demon had to look downward a bit.
“So, talk again soon Bambi?”
“We shall see, your highness.”
Lucifer smiled back at him before walking to his own room. Shortly after, the overlord also left to return to his room. As he closed the door behind him the lights in the room flickered on, though they weren’t very bright. His heels clacked softly on the floor as he hobbled over to the bed.
Alastor sat down, stared at the wall for a few seconds, then buried his face into the palms of his hands sighing in disbelief. He couldn’t be falling for the very man that he dipised from the very day they met. The more he talked with Lucifer the more he realizes that he’s taken a liking to him, more than friends. Nevermind these stupid feelings, he can worry about what to do with them later.

As the king plopped himself into bed after changing into some comfortable clothes he grabbed the nearest duck plushy then looked at it for a few seconds before screaming into it. The soft cotton inside muffled out the loud noise into quiet muffles. Lucifer lifted his head from the duck plushy, finally calmed down.
It’s completely normal. They only held hands, he got called pretty, and shielded Al from the rain. Totally NOT romantic. . . Right?
“How the hell did I fall in love this time?” He whispered to himself.
Now that the two have finally realized that they’re in love, it’s time for step two. What are they gonna do about these new found feelings? Then, an idea came to them both. Valentines was only a few days away. Though the thought wasn’t set in stone. . . Yet.
