Chapter Text
The elevator opens, practically inviting Lampert in. He steps out, looking around. It was a room with a warm, purple environment. You could even smell cupcakes from the furniture. Definitely was Party Noob's apartment alright. A bunch of confetti falls out of nowhere, along with a loud party horn sound. Only god knows where it even came from. He picks out the confetti out of his lampshade with confusion and amusement. Party Noob was sure something..
There was no one, though. Not a single person in sight. Or at least that Lampert could see. But then, someone came out of the bathroom. In his own instinct, Lampert recoils.
"Who's there?"
"Huh? What? Oh hey, it's my 'BRIGHT' lampy friend! they're in the bedroom, You should go check!"
The person who was in the bathroom was Split. What a surprise, he remembered that she was also one of his friends.
He nodded, following Split's advise. He walked over to the smaller part of the apartment where the bedroom was located, and stood in front of the door, His hand hovering over the knob.
Needless to say.. he was definitely too nervous for something simple like this.
He sighed, and turned the knob finally.
The door slides open, revealing the bedroom. His eyes catch a glimpse of DR RETRO looking at some documents. But he decides to ignore it to not cause any trouble.
"Doctor? You.. called me."
"Meow, purr!" (You're here!)
DR RETRO puts down her documents, turning around to face Lampert.
"Purr... Mew, meow." (Hey, you should try looking to your left.)
He fidgeted, and slowly moved his head to the left like DR RETRO said.
There was Poob's bed.. and.. that guy. Infected, or whatever his name was now. The dude was just sleeping on the bed. Though he did notice that he wasn't wearing his 'disgusting' pink t-shirt anymore. Good.
"...Oh, him. What about him?"
"Meow, mow.." (just wait until he wakes up.)
He looked at the slumbering dude, brows furrowing in concern.
"Yeah. Alright. I'll.. wait, I guess."
And he waited. He actually waited. For a guy that didn't even remember him anymore. Was this worth it? Well, he doesn't know. But all he wants is to see his friend okay.
After awhile, he woke up. Finally. It was only a few hours, but to Lampert? it felt like years. Infected sat up, yawning at the same time.
Lampert stared curiously, wanting to ask a question.
"K-... Eh. Nevermind. Uh, Why are you in Party Noob's apartment?"
The guy squinted his eyes, gasping in bewilderment at who he was seeing.
"Hey. Are you.."
Lampert was slightly offended that he just brushed off his question like that, but listened anyway. Infected's mouth struggles to open, hand raising slightly to check if what he was seeing was real. Lampert steps back, not wanting to touch Infected.
"You're.. Lampert. The one I went bowling with alot."
Lampert pauses. The dude did remember. So was all of this some sort of sick joke? He gazed over to Infected, who was reaching out for him.
"Yes. Why?"
Infected got out of the bed, to be close enough to stand in front of the lamp head. It really was Lampert!
"It's me, Kasper."
"What?"
Silence filled the entire room, only the unsettling sounds of the vending machine in the room vibrating could be heard. But Lampert was not scared.. or anything. rather, he was shocked. So shocked that his lampshade felt like it was gonna fall off any second.
"Kasper.."
He murmured under his breath. It actually felt like tears were going to come out, even though he physically could not shed any.
"The real Kasper this time. Nice meeting you again, dude."
Kasper opened up his arms, patiently waiting for a hug.
Hesitantly, Lampert slowly moves to embrace the heartwarming gesture. DR RETRO, who was staring the whole time started to smile. She was proud of her work. Their hard work paid off! Another win for her.
The hug went on for awhile, until Lampert broke it.
"You're real, right?"
He joked, his gaze becoming slightly softer.
"Yeah. Real this time!
Both of them joked on for awhile, happy with their reunion.. which took a few months. Lampert wasn't sure if this was some sort of dream or not, but whatever it was, he wanted to savor this moment forever. He'd never want his friend like that again. For now, he's back and happy.
