chapter notes!
- lots of ocs...i cant help myself! dont worry well be seeing more familiar faces (and also more expansions on what happened BEFORE this chapter, since this fic is technically in medias res)
- if u read a hand offered a hand taken u probs recognize eudon. dont worry, jiang and katya are probably around the corner then! i have Plans for him and phossie tho.
- freminet gets introduced next chaoter (yay!!)
- sedene is a real npc in the palais mermonia. shes at the front desk!
- my interpterion of the mare jivari is still based on early fandom ideas of it. mostly because we have still yet to never see the mare jivari in game. personally, i hope its similar to what i wrote because natlan is so bright and colorful and lush and i LOVE IT and the mare jivari being like, the opposite would be such an eery contrast that i would enjoy. (also, its never actually confirmed that its in natlan? just thats its "opposite of mondstadt", so...probably natlan. probably?). im taking the description of "sea of ashes where the wind does not blow" which also contains a "SEA OF FIRE" and running with it, basically. its a good thing that the mare jivari does not generally show up after this.
- also, the mare jivari part builds off probably one of the oldest bennett theories ever that the place the adventure in his character story 2 is the mare jivari. personally i think that even if its not canon i love the headcanon. the evidence i usually see is because its described, in the story as "scorching flames scalded his skin" and also the insane line of "even if what he was about to do opposed the will of the world itself, he was unafraid". what about saving a child from literal hell could be against the world itself if your NOT in the hellish sea of fire place? the one thing though is that the character story 2 also states that "the hollering winds threatened to rip his soul from him", and well...the mare jivari is famously known as the land without wind. whether thats a mondstadt culture thing, or theres literally no wind in the mare jivari is...unclear, but i bet it has some truth in it. another piece people tend to point to is his windblume poem whch mentions the mare jivari.
- that theory also sorta goes hand in hand with the pheonix theory thing and if yk yk. its a pretty cool theory i think. but mondstadt really is full of lore unknowns huh...
- the chapter count being 1/15 is an estimation. don't count on it.
- there was a different first chapter (which is where the mare jivari notes are from) but then i realized i needed to reorganize my chapters. this was originally the 4th chapter!
-the time line of this fic drove me insane. canonically, freminet joined the HoH BEFORE Arle became the knave, and so was in the hoh when crucabena was still in charge? but then i was like "itd be really weird for freminet to know arle when she was pereure...and after looking into it more, turns out theres one year of leeway as arle killed crucabena and became the knave a year AFTER clervies death. so ive made it to where she basically absconded and ran away for a year, and at the moment of time in this fic, no one knows where she is. yet.
