It had been a couple days since the gang had taken down the last monster. Lily, Carla, Penny and Alice were all at lunch together, talking about school, work, whatever. The topic of her shoulder soon came up…right. Lily had literally been stabbed in the shoulder a few days prior.
“Lily what happened to your shoulder?” Penny asked,
“oh yeah I was wondering about that” Alice added “were you fighting those badass mutants again?” Carla also questioned, taking a bite of her apple while simultaneously doing someone’s homework . Lily had told her friends about the mutants because she knew she could trust them, and well, she told the girls almost everything.
“Yeah that last one wasn’t fun”
“what happened?” Penny asked again
“I just got stabbed but Nugget helped me out”
the other 3 girls just stared at her for a second, utterly confused
“Why are you saying that so casually?” Alice said, absolutely flabbergasted
“I’m fine I swear”
“yeah, and Carla and Monty don’t have fat crushes on each other" Alice rolled her eyes playfully
“Whoa whoa whoa, me and Monty are business partners!” Carla slammed her hands on the table in protest
“yeah business partners who make out in the computer lab” (dang Alice was quick with the comebacks) Penny and Lily snorted at her comment and Carla’s flush only grew bigger.
“You're one to talk Alice, I've seen you and Austin go on the roof together, what goes on up there, huh?”
“You know what, let's just go back to talking about Lily, okay?”
“Fine…for now” Carla and Alice sorta squinted their eyes at each other, having some kind of staring contest before the silence was broken by Penny
“oh yeah, Nugget helped you out, what was that about?”
“He just patched me up and made sure I was okay and…” she trailed off
“and.. what?” Penny tilted her head,
“Wait, are you guys dating yet?” Carla bluntly asked
“What is that supposed to mean?!”
“You know he has a massive crush on you or are you as naive as Alice”
“Hey I said let’s talk about Lily!” To try and calm the situation Lily replied to Carla’s question,
“Carla, I’m well aware of Nugget’s feelings”
“Then why haven’t you done anything about it? Don’t you like him too?” Penny replied
“Yes- well I do but I just haven’t gotten the chance to talk to him- and I don’t wanna make him uncomfortable”
“I don’t think you can make the guy who openly calls you ‘the pretty Lily’ uncomfortable”
“Well it doesn’t matter, I just haven’t found time”
“Won’t you have time this weekend? You guys are hanging out right?” Penny added
“how do you know that?”
“I overheard Billy and Kidd in study hall”
“See there’s your chance” Alice confidently answered,
“Lily,” Carla reached over the table and put her hands on Lily’s shoulders “If you or him don’t ask each other out soon I will go insane, him and Billy sit behind me in history and he doesn’t shut up about you”
So it was settled, Lily was gonna do something about it (she had no choice honestly, Carla was kinda scary). She simply nodded, her face slightly redder than it was before. Carla removed her hands from Lily’s shoulders. Lunch soon ended and the girls went their separate ways.

Nugget and Kidd were on their way to Lily and Billy’s house for their planned hang out. Lily was terrified. Why should she be it’s just Nugget she’s talked to him thousands of times. But now it just felt different, ever since the “shoulder incident”.
Billy however was definitely planning something. Their friends soon arrived and the hangout commenced. Billy was actually awfully suspicious though, he kept continuously glancing between Nugget and Kidd. At some point during the hangout Kidd had slipped away somewhere, no one questioned it, not even Billy which surprised Lily. After a bit of Kidd being gone the power had gone out, (because of course it did) how strange. Billy stood up quickly
“oh no! Looks like the powers out!” He said very unenthusiastically “why don’t you and Nugget go check it out in the basement” he then put a flash light in Lily’s hand (where did he get that?) and pushed her and Nugget into the basement entrance. Then, before either of them could say anything, he slammed the door behind them.
“What was that about?” Lily asked , flipping the flash light on
“Nugget does not know,” he shrugged. The two then walked down the stairs and started looking around for the generator to flip the power back on. The only thing they could see was whatever Lily decided to put the flashlight on. Even though Lily lived there it wasn’t every day or even year she was turning on the generator in her basement. The two walked around aimlessly
“Does Billy even know where the generator is?” Lily said to herself. They then heard a door slam, and Lily quickly turned around completely slamming herself into Nugget and dropping the flash light
“Oh! Sorry Nugget”
“The pretty Lily does not need to apologize, is she alright” “yeah yeah, thanks” she responded, picking up the flash light again. Something then fell off a nearby shelf and steps could be heard.
“Is there seriously not a light switch down here!” She complained, as she lost hope her foot landed on something hard and cylindrical “oh hey another flash light!” She picked it up, turned it on and handed it to Nugget; who took it gratefully.
They came across a door which Lily cautiously opened, Nugget followed closely behind now being able to see. “Hey wait, I think that’s it!” Lily announced, as she ran over to it. Nugget was being strangely quiet. She moved her flash light around inspecting the generator. Nugget stood near the doorway and watched Lily fiddle with the machine. Lily then saw something out of the corner of her eye. It looked like a person?
She confusingly flashed whatever it was in the face.
“Aaaak- not in the eyes Lils!” Billy screamed and she jumped back quickly
“Wa- what? Billy?!? I thought you were upstairs?!”
“Oh my gosh I’m getting so bored! Are you guys together yet???”
“Huh” Lily was bewildered
“What is friend Billy talking about?”
“Alright Kidd, it didn't work! New plan!” He yelled and Kidd popped out from behind a corner
“Aww seriously! Boo”
"What are you guys talking about?!?”
“It’s nothing Lils, let's just go back upstairs” he started to walk towards the door but Lily stopped him
“No, you're going to tell me what’s going on!”
“Right now?”
“Yes.” She turned to Nugget and Kidd “You two go wait upstairs” “yes ma’am,” Kidd did a little salute before dragging Nugget out of the room and up the nearby staircase. Once they were out of sight Lily took a couple deep breaths and began to speak,
“Billy what are you talking about, what ‘plan’ I’m so confused”
“Well…” Billy scratched his head and looked away. “Me and Kidd and a whole bunch of other people decided that we needed to get you and Nugget together because as we know he likes you, you like him so why not just date?” he sheepishly explained.
Lily sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose “Billy, while it’s true that I do like Nugget-“
“The pretty Lily likes Nugget!?!?!” Nugget yelled
“I thought I told you two to wait upstairs” Lily yelled back, she then heard them quickly shuffle up the stairs. She turned back to Billy and continued
“As I was saying, it’s true that I do like Nugget, I don’t need you messing with my love life”
“Well you kinda just admitted your feelings for him and he heard so…” Lily face palmed and just sighed
“Well this isn’t going to be awkward at all, alright lets go,” the twins then walked back upstairs reuniting with Nugget and Kidd
“Alright you two clearly have some things to talk about so me and Kidd will be in the other room! Have fun!!” Billy announced as him and Kidd left.
Nugget and Lily were now alone.
But why did it feel so weird to Lily?
Nugget took a deep breath
“Nugget has a question for the pretty Lily” he took another deep breath and grabbed her hands.
“Nugget never wants to make the pretty Lily uncomfortable and she can absolutely refuse Nuggets requests if she so pleases” he started
“But, when Nugget over heard the pretty Lily talking to friend Billy about Nugget, she said she liked him” he squeezed her hands a bit
“and Nugget likes the pretty Lily too so, Nugget was just wondering…” he made eye contact with her in the moment
“Will the pretty Lily be Nugget’s girlfriend” she smiled, looked down at their hands then back at Nugget.
“I think…” “I think I’d really like that” as soon as the words came out of her mouth Nugget scooped her into a hug
“Nugget would like that too” he whispered.
The moment was truly perfect…
until Billy and Kidd came running in
“Let’s go! Plan technically successful!” Billy shouted “Up top!” Him and Kidd then high fived.
Billy then took out his phone and began to type something.
“Well I’m glad I won’t have to hear Nugget talk my ear off about you in history anymore”
“how do you guys feel” Kidd asked Lily and Nugget, who were now holding hands again
“Better I think”
“Nugget is very happy” after a couple minutes of the 3 of them talking Lily soon got a text from Carla:
Carla: Congrats on finally finding time
Lily: What are you talking about?
Carla: to talk to Nugget
Lily: Wait, how did you know that?
Carla: Billy told our group chat
…
Carla: Lils? U good?
Lily: I’m gonna kill him
Carla: lmao have fun
“You guys had a group chat for this!?!” Lily yelled
“I said, me Kidd and a bunch of other people you didn’t ask who!” Billy raised his hands defensively.
“Well who’s in the group chat?”
“Uh- here you can look” Billy handed her his phone and she looked at the chat that was open. It was called “Ultimate Wingmen” and it consisted of Billy, Kidd, Carla, Penny, Alice, Monty, Ted and Nugget- wait Nugget?!?! She turned to him
“you knew about this?”
“Nugget knows everything” she rolled her eyes and gave Billy’s phone back.
Soon it was time for the friends and now partners to part ways. They all said goodbye and Kidd and Nugget were just about to walk out the door when Lily stopped him and gave him a quick peck on the cheek. They then left after that, but not without getting to hear Billy teasing Lily.
