Chapter Text

After flying for a while, Mir landed on the ground, falling on one knee. Thoughts were racing through her mind like a colony of bees. She'd just killed someone. Someone who had their own friends, and life. Mir took that away.

"What have I got to live for..?"

Mir opened her eyes and saw two cone legs further in front of her. Looking up, it was a female drone with a suit and hair tied up in pigtails.

The new drone quickly pulled out a gun, to which Mir stood up and fearfully unsheathed her swords.

"Who are you? Leave, now!" She spat, jabbing her with the weapon with enough force to make her stumble again. Mir flew into the air, not looking for another fight.

The Dissassembly Drone, surprised that she actually decided to flee, lowered her gun for a second, seeing the fear in her eyes.

"Hey-" She reached out towards the sky hesitantly, but Mir had already flown overhead, swerving up to a building and landing on the roof.

On said roof, Mir sat and clutched her legs to her head. She knew it was completely her job and her mission to kill these disobedient drones, but it didn't feel right to do it at all. One was down, or at least half down, and she was almost done. All she had to do was go back and defeat Serial Designation N.

But she couldn't. Something within her made her feel so vile for doing such a thing, and she wished she could reverse what she did.

~But you can, can't you? :]~

"Waugh! O- oh... I mean, I can, but it's hard... Wouldn't you know? Who even are you?"

~That's a secret for now! I know someone who has the thing you're looking for.~

"...The Solver? You mean someone has that thing? It's so rare though. And on Copper-9 too? W- wait, was it...?"

~No, it wasn't V. Remember that Worker Drone with them?~

"Her... But I can't go back, they'll kill me, then we can't save Serial Designation V. I also can't abandon my mission... Seriously, who are you?"

~Don't worry about dying, I'll take care of it. Your mission is obsolete. I'd like you to save V, please.~

"...Alright. Uhm, one more question. Who was the one down there, if you know?"

~Oh, that was J. She's rude, don't talk to her. >:[~

"Okay."

Mir stood up again, feeling slightly renewed, and took off again, looking down at where Serial Designation J stood before. She wasn't there anymore, but she could see her small footprints, and part of her remembered her reaching out, but Mir trusted the voice, and turned away, flapping her silky moth-like wings. For reasons unknown, she didn't feel anxious anymore, and had a knowing feeling that everything would be okay.

She still didn't know who the voice was, but she trusted it, even though it didn't talk to her as she soared. Mir just assumed it was taking care of things, as it said it would. It's tone rang in her head, a light voice that darted all over the place as it spoke, even giving off a more robotic sort of voice. Still, it spoke to her like a melody, inviting her to trust it. And she did. Why wouldn't she anyways? There was no way to get rid of it after all.

"Come on kid, wake up..."

She stopped. What was that? A new voice rang through her head. Her vision flashed.

Mir was suddenly in a new place, looking at someone's face through the darkness.

"Thank goodness. I accidentally hit your head on a rock and I'd thought you were dead! Are you alright? It doesn't hurt, does it?"

She couldn't see a bit of their features besides their white eyes, or even process the sound of their voice, even though she knew what they were saying.

"...What happened? Who are you?" She said, though it wasn't a conscious decision she made to say those words, as if she was living a memory.

"Oh no, I scrambled your sensors harder then I thought! Um, I guess I'll quickly explain what's going on, but then we've gotta move."

The voice was starting to get glitchy, and she felt the wind and snow from Copper-9 berating against her, though there was no snow in the memory.

"I overhea-... -m saying that they we-.. -to make you one of those ba-... Mir?"

Suddenly, Mir had control over her body again and the memory faded as her consciousness returned to Copper-9. She had so many questions. If that was a memory, who was the drone in the darkness? They weren't speaking Spanish like the one from earlier, so what happened to him? And what happened to her? Or the one speaking to her?

It hurt her head thinking about it, so she decided to keep her thoughts on the task at hand. After flying for what felt like forever, she saw the building where she'd essentially killed Serial Designation V again. After searching all over it, she came to the conclusion that they weren't there and started to head back out the entrance.

However, Serial Designation N was there waiting for her and thrusted a gun to her head.

Notes:

This feels so unprofessional but honestly who cares? At least I'm expressing myself! That's an improvement.
