Chapter Text
Its been about three days now, at least that's what the clocks tell you. Some how it fells longer than just three days though. the first day you stayed in the snack shop, no one really came to check on you besides Builderman and Elliot. You where fine, just the simple wallowing and hoping this was still all just a horrific dream. It wasn't.
on day two, You got out the shop. You still felt like crap but staying in the shack didn't help with that. you did speak with some people, you did recognize some of them from missing posters. Though when some of them said they're suppose to be dead, It made your heart ache and for some reason you saw a flash of the worried faces of the people who gave the missing flyers. Though even with some of those small chats you still didn't get to speak with others. but day two was fine, you didn't even get sent into a round either.
Then there's day three. which is today. you were alone sitting near the fire place, Elliot was also with you. He seemed to be the only one trying to warm you up to the place. you and him weren't sent out, Elliot had said you seemed to be lucky with not being picked three times in a row. He said it was kind of weird since when him and the others came, they were sent in a day or two, some in the same day that they arrived.
"or maybe I'm just not suppose to be in the rounds." you suggested, that earned you a light chuckle from the Pizza guy. though he quickly corrected himself.
"well uh.. maybe.. but it would be kind of weird that you were brought here for nothing" He shrugged while rubbing the back of his neck.
you looked back to the fire, he was right. everyone here seems to have a roll in this psychotic game, so what was yours. You huffed and leaned back. it was whatever for now, right now you can go for some chips you been eyeing in the shop.
"I'm going to get a snack.. want to come get some with me?" You asked him, he nodded with a smile and stood up with you.
you were warming up to him, and it showed. you would talk more with the others like you do him but some of them seem to rather be doing anything else than talk about nothing important.
you both walked into the Shop and turned on the lights. you welcomed Elliot in to pick his pickings of the foods while you went straight to the one you been eyeing. you grabbed the chips and looked over at him to see if he was done.
you heard a confused mumble from him and tilted your head. "everything alright?" You asked as you stepped over to where he is, which wasn't far, the room wasn't that big.
"um.. I think so? I can't seem to grab this snack bar or anything around it." He responded with a sigh and his face was just plain out confusion.
you raised a brow and looked down at the snack bar, cant grab it? you didn't think much about it and reached out to grab it. you picked it up like it was nothing, and looked over at him confused.
"oh! uh.. I guess I was think to much about it?" He seemed to be confused of his own excuse but never the less you held it out to him.
He reached out and his hand just phased through it, a gasp left your lips and his.
"See! that's what I mean...I-.. how come you can hold it?" Elliot seemed to stop thinking about how he couldn't hold it and now thought about how could you instead.
he looked at you then the snack bar.
"I.. don't know." You shrugged and went to place it on the counter along with your chip bag. though the counter was a bit full so you ended up setting it on a scale instead.
though when you did a chirpy ding rang out. you looked down at the scale and realized, it wasn't weighing weight, but money? you looked over at Elliot, he seemed to be just as confused as you were. he looked at the small screen next to the scale, then he looked at his watch.
"I have some credits to buy this..." He muttered, he looked over at you then back at the screen.
there was a small green arrow point at an empty space on the screen, Elliot tapped his watch against the screen, two chirpy dings rang out. He pulled his wrist away, and you felt your wrist vibrate. you tensed and looked down at your wrist with a gasp.
you had a watch now. since when did you get one? you stared at the small screen of the watch, '20 credits added' blinked on the screen, but.. the amount Elliot paid was higher. you both looked back at the screen next the scale, now there was a blinking check mark on the screen. Then with slight hesitation he reached for the snacks.
he was able to grab them now. you both looked at each other with wide eyes, then at the snacks, both of you slowly putting the pieces together.
"seriously?! I'm still a cashier?!" You huffed out as you looked at the scale as if it was the very thing that dammed you.
though when you looked over at Elliot he seemed to have a relived look. when he saw you looking he cleared his throat and smiled. "well at least you don't have to go through with dying over and over again.." he seemed to be tryin to get you to look on the bright side.
It worked. you did seem to have it best around here now. not having to experience what they have to every day. though for some reason you still felt a pit in your stomach.
"we can tell the others when they get back. I'm sure they'll be glad to know that they don't have to worry about you in rounds." Elliot rested a hand on your shoulder as he guided both you back to the fire place.
Your sure Elliot meant what he said in a reassuring way, but it still felt as if you being here seemed to just be another weight added, you just being another person to be responsible of.
-------------------------------------------
when it hit 12:00, everyone came back looking exhausted, some more than others. you saw Guest and shedletsky slump down on the couch, you also saw builderman about to walk out with Dueskkar. but before they could leave Elliot spoke out, you were a little nervous, not sure why but with it being the topic centered around you, it made you feel vulnerable.
most of them looked over to Elliot, the admins of course having to stay and listen. some others didn't seem bothered to pay attention, probably because of them just getting out of a round.
Elliot mostly spoke for you. Explain what happened and how you both found out your roll. He honestly explained it pretty well, with you being the cashier so with that being the only one to hold un bought snacks and food, credits they been earning being able to be spent on better food than bread and water.
some asked questions, like chance, he had asked 'since your basically the shop keeper can you take and grab whatever you wanted?'
you and Elliot replied with a simple response, that when the food is paid for you do get some credits as well. which means you do most likely have to pay for your own food as well.
A few more questions were thrown into the conversation and both you and Elliot tried your best to answer them. after all was said and done, Elliot let every one go there own ways. you sticked with Elliot for a bit longer, enjoying the snacks he had bought earlier.
you were glad you didn't have to deal with killers, but really? a cashier? how lucky and unlucky are you, to be a cashier when you lived and to be a cashier after death inside a place that is hell for others? at least you don't have the worst of it here.
