Chapter Text
“Rue? Time to wake up.” The gentle voice said giggling a bit. “You were the one who wanted to hang out today.”
I groaned as I took the sheets off with my eyes still closed. It was worth waking up for what i considered early to hang out with ####.
“Hehe, don’t worry you can sleep the car ride there.” She ruffled my hair a bit then left the room.
I went to my closet and took random clothing pieces. I did try to dress a bit nicer today, but my outfit ended up with black shorts, white shirt with some black stripes, and long black socks that almost went up to my knee but not quite. So much for dressing nicer.
I left my room to brush my teeth. #### walked in when I finished brushing my teeth. She wore a black skirt that wasn’t too short but didn’t reach her knees, a white collar shirt, and black socks like mine.
She looked at me and opened her mouth to say, “copycat.” She smiled and laughed a bit, then looked at my hair. “Wow your hair is a mess, here I’ll help you.”
I wasn’t really paying attention when she was doing my hair. I just felt tugging on my head. It didn’t hurt, it felt nice in a way.
After a while the feeling stopped. “Done!” I looked at the mirror. My hair was usually messy most of the time because I didn’t feel doing anything special with it. So it was kinda weird when I saw that it was actually neat. It wasn’t tangled and she even did little cat ears with my hair.
“So, how do you like it?”
I simply nodded my head in response but she smiled warmly, then left to go to her room. I just stood there looking at my reflection for a while, until she called me to come downstairs. When did she go downstairs?
I quickly ran downstairs to see her in the kitchen putting bread in the toaster. I walked up and stood behind her and watched the toaster with her.
The room was silent except for ####’# hums. Eventually I spaced out for who knows how long.
I snapped back to reality when the bread, now toast, came up. I jumped back and went behind ####.
“Haha, you’re so funny Rue.” She patted my head then grabbed the toast out the toaster.
I blinked and the scene changed. I was sitting at the dining table “What is this Rue?” Father’s voice cut the silence at the dinner table. “Why do you have a C in math?” I looked down at my plate, unable to speak.
Father, not being able to hold it anymore shouted, “ANSWER ME YOU LITTLE PEACE OF SHIT!”
I shivered from those words. #### was next to me, she didn’t seem to like the yelling even if it wasn’t directed to her.
“You don’t have to be that harsh to her.” She spoke for me. “She’s doing her best.”
“HOW DARE YOU SPEAK BACK TO ME! YOU BRAT!” He stood up and went over to #### and slapped her. A loud noise filled the room. I slightly titled my head up and a big red mark was on her check. She got punished from my mistake. It’s not fair.
It’s not fair she’s ####.

I sat up in a cold sweat. Oh. I was in my room the whole time. Wait. What was I dreaming about again?
