Chapter Text

Odette wished she could sink into the floor and never return.

“What do you mean?” she replied to Caroline, voice faltering. “There’s… No, this is her! No way-“

Caroline slowly dropped to her knees on the checkered floor, gripping the doorframe tightly. “N- No… That’s not… Her face is different…!” Caroline insisted. “That’s not her!” she exclaimed, descending further into panic.

Odette stepped back from the girl’s corpse, her blood stained paws shaking at her sides.

She…. She killed an innocent person?

And what would happen to them now?

Inevitably, morning would come, and some poor soup would discover the scene, the corpse that plagued the security room. The police would be called, an investigation would commence, and the cameras would be checked. They would see nobody but the animatronics, and they would act accordingly.

Odette steadied herself. She straightened her back and gathered her words, breaking the horrible silence. “I… I’m sorry,” she pleaded to nobody, voice barely above a whisper. She didn’t quite know if she was apologizing to the girl, her friends, or herself.

She couldn’t think of any more words, so she simply walked out of the room, the only sound breaking the deafening silence between Caroline and Sophia being Odette’s metallic steps.

She walked in the opposite direction of her sister’s room. She couldn’t face her right now, not with bloodstained paws, not after what she’d done, and not after Charlotte had requested her leave.

She found herself in the kitchen, strangely, a place she seldom visited. She shut the door behind her and sat against it like she was in some kind of movie.

Did something just move?

She was suddenly on high alert, paws pressing against the cold floor below her as she watched the source of the movement attentively.

… Ah.

How stupid of her to worry, she thought as the small figure got closer snd stepped into the light. It’s only Trey.

She groaned at herself, frustrated at her own paranoia as Trey approached her. “Go away, peabrain,” she scowled at the rabbit, wishing she could cry.

Trey continued approaching regardless of Odette’s request.

Odette watched Trey approach, and once he was in arms reach, she flicked his forehead. “Get,” she demanded.

Trey, the stubborn fella, simply continued closer until he could (attempt to) wrap his arms around Odette in some kind of hug.

Odette shoved him off her, standing up and backing up. “Smooth brain, move,” she demanded. and Trey just continued stepping toward her.

She used his slow walking pace against him, continuing to back away before quickly looping around, opening up the door and stepping out. Before Trey could follow, she shut the door and locked him inside. As she walked away, she heard some scratching noises coming from the door.

Sophia was feeling too sick to try and hide the body. Not to mention, she was forcing herself to, instead of caring for herself, comfort Caroline.

This feeling was a unique type of sickness. It was like something foreign resided in her stomach, perhaps a metal spike or a book.

She couldn’t even think about the string of words that was flooding out of her mouth as she gently comforted Caroline. It was as if her throat was filled with carnations, thick and light at the same time and preventing her from breathing. The feeling was phantom, of course, because she didn’t need to breathe and her words were spilling out regardless of the sensation.

Sophia had moved poor Caroline and herself out of the security office and to the backstage area, where she presumed they wouldn’t be seeing Odette. She patted the pink haired rabbit on the back gently, soothing words slipping from her lips like they were nothing. She’d spent so much time doing this exact thing for the sisters, it was second nature at this point. She wished somebody could return the favor.

Sophia continued to pat Caroline’s back before she was suddenly engulfed in a hug. She took a second to process before returning it.

“Thank you,” Caroline’s voice broke. “I’m… A little scared, but you’re helping. Thank you.”

Ah, there it is. Those kind of words were what motivated Sophia to help like she does.

“Of course, Caroline,” she returned, voice coming out smooth despite her internal panic.

All they could do was wait here, sitting ducks, for somebody to discover the scene.
