Chapter Text
When they got back to base with Ezra the first thing they saw was the murderous droid. Ezra had to jump out of the way to not be electrocuted. “Chopper! What are you doing! I haven’t seen you in a decade and this is how you greet me? It is good to see you still around, but I’d be happier if it weren’t electroprod first!”
The droid beeped something rude as Ezra ignored it and towed Rey and Finn into a meeting with General Organa.
“It’s been too long Leah, how’s the resistance going?”
She just sent him an annoyed glare, “It would be going better if you were here to help instead of just playing hermit for the last ten years.”
Ezra didn’t even have the decency to look sheepish, “Well, I’m here now and I have a problem, you sent me two force sensitive kids, and I can only train one at a time. Plus me and Rey just aren’t a good fit. If you tried to have me train her she’d be chewing off her leg to get away from me within a week. But I happened to remember that a certain someone had learned quite a bit from her brother and had a temperament much more suited to teaching Rey. I remember what you were like when you were younger. I know you’re busy with the resistance, but you need to learn to delegate more anyways.”
Rey looked startled, “When you said you had someone in mind who could teach me I didn’t think you meant General Organa!”
Leah looked contemplative, “If you’re actually going to help Ezra, I might have the time. I don’t know, there’s something…” Leah trailed off as she looked at Rey closely. “What do you think, Rey? Your exclamation earlier made it clear he did not properly tell you his plans ahead of time. Then again he’s always been the kinda guy to start doing something and then okay it with everyone else.”
Rey once again had to think. Could General Organa really teach her? This felt different than when she thought about learning from Master Bridger. That had felt wrong, not bad, just incorrect. This didn’t. When she thought about learning from General Organa she saw herself in the future. She was standing beside her master, working side by side to take down the first order. It was like the Force was whispering to her that this was correct, like a puzzle piece to the question of who she was finally slotted into place. Just as much as she knew her name was Rey, that she was from Jakku, and she could sense the force. She knew that she was meant to train with General Organa. Is this what Finn had felt when he asked Ezra to teach him? Rey looked to General Organa, “Yes, if you would have me as a student I would like to learn from you.”
Leah looked at her, truly looked at her, “Then I would be happy to train you. You won’t be a Jedi, their order has fallen, very few remember their ways, and I am not one of them. Something tells me that you wouldn’t have made a very good Jedi anyways. You are too much the warrior, like myself”
