After a long while, they all learned to accept the grief a little more, but the depression was still there, especially for Meta Knight. Meta Knight wasn't as playful with Joe, he was actually very distant with the kids. Jecra sat on the bed next to Meta Knight, who had been thinking for 20 minutes now.
“Hey… Meta?” Jecra admired his eyes as he looked up at him. Not at the sadness or redness from crying, but the beautiful bright yellow color that changed to beautiful hues of pinks and blues depending on his mood.
Jecra handed Meta Knight the baby. Meta Knight stared at the baby for a little while before finally saying, “I do not wish to hurt our children Jecra.” He said before giving the baby back to him. “Meta, it wasn't your fault, you aren't dangerous.”
Meta Knight turned his head away from Jecra. He looked at himself through the mirror in his room. “Meta, it really wasn't your fault, she sacrificed herself on that mission, she died for you, not because of you!” Jecra turned Meta Knight's head toward his. “Don't blame yourself for such things… She wouldn't have wanted this at-”
“But what would she have wanted?” Meta Knight cut him off by asking. “She would've wanted you to be kind to yourself, you know she always hated it when you blamed yourself for silly things. She also would've wanted you to be the best person you could be, for her, for the kids… for me.”
Meta Knight chuckled in response. “Alright I get it, you want me to be happier, you don't have to persuade me with emotional bullshit.” “There's my bright-eyes!”
They kissed each other before going to check on the kids.
