Chapter Text
Percy sighed heavily from his place on his throne on Mount Olympus.
When he, Jason and Nico became gods, he was sure that everything would be better. That people would feel safe to walk down the street.
But although many would argue that this is exactly the situation, Percy was only disappointed in himself.
How could he have missed the signs. How could he let his family get hurt! After he swore to himself that it would not happen.
From his place across from him, Nico noticed the guilty expression on Perseus' face "It's not your fault you know, it's just something we didn't anticipate"
Jason looked up from the scroll he was reading with a frown "Of course it's not your fault Perce. how could you even think it was?"
And in a rare to an almost nonexistent moment of vulnerability, Perseus shrugged, mind far away. Thinking about all the things he could have done to prevent what they had decided to do only a few hours prior.
A few minutes of strained silence later, a satyr stumbled into the throne room. Unusually nervous upon sensing the tense atmosphere.
When the three gods turned their heads down to look at the satyr, he bowed low.
Without lifting his head, he reported what he was tasked to report "my lords, all of the satyrs and nymphs that were on the list were made aware of the situation at hand, and all the demigods were withdrawn from the mortal realm"
Perseus looked at him with unbrushed relief "thank you"
The satyr's face started to redden but he succeeded in whispering "of course my lord" before he was dismissed and out of the grand throne room that Jason had built with his own two hands.
"Percy, this isn't such a big deal, it's just a precaution at this point. They are by no means a real threat" Nico assured him.
Percy sighed "I know. But I feel like I failed, if the people would ever do something like that"
"Not all the people" Jason pointed out "just a small power hungry group of pathetic excuses of mortals"
Perseus rolled his eyes at the blunt language before he remembered what he had to do next.
This... isn't going to be pleasant...
But Percy couldn't deny his excitement between the swells of emotions he felt.
After all, he had waited for this moment for years.
Lex breathed in and out.
In... hold for five
Out.... hold for ten
But it didn't help at all. Not even one bit.
"What... what about Robert?" He asked with a small voice that was extremely untypical for him.
Logan turned to him with a confused expression "who is Robert?"
He didn't slow down even a bit while talking answering Lex. His strides were purposeful and hurried.
"My stepdad" Lex told him. His legs felt weak from the emotional crisis he was experiencing, but he tried to keep up with the satyr.
After a moment of silence, Logan came up with "we'll deal with it after we reach camp safely" he shot him an apologetic smile but didn't further explain.
They were getting farther and farther from the school and Lex tried not to fidget, but it was impossible with all the stress he was feeling.
For Lex, it seemed like hours of walking, but in reality it was probably a few minutes because when he snapped out of his own mind, he found that he and Logan were only at the end of the street.
"Hi Lex, don't we have a class in twenty minutes?" He heard from behind him.
He turned around to meet a girl in his English class who seemed to be on her way to school.
Her eyes widened when she saw his still red eyes from crying over what happened to his mom and the confusion still evident in his eyes.
She hesitated, only for a second before stepping closer, "I- what happened?"
Lex was about to say that everything's fine, and to ask her if she could let Mr.Adams know that he won't be attending class today. But before he could, Logan positioned himself between Lex and the girl.
"Nothing that concerns you" he answered the girl for Lex, his tone even and composed.
Lex frowned at him, but didn't comment about the satyr's change of demeanor.
The girl stepped back, surprised by the sudden interference of Logan.
"I only wanted to know if he's okay"
"everything is okay. I'll thank you if you'll let us take our leave" Logan told her with a somewhat robotic tone. Like he practiced it in front of the mirror the day before.
Lex couldn't help but smile a little at the mental picture.
The girl Lex was pretty sure was named Maricca didn't look pleased with the answer "wha- who even are you?" she started to get angry with Logan "I'm only checking to see if Lex is fine and I have the complete right to do so"
Lex was feeling guilty at this point. She only wanted to know if he was alright (which he obviously wasn't). And Lex didn't really have a lot of friends, so it was nice.
The satyr didn't seem to agree with him though, as he was shooting her an annoyed look.
"Everything's fine, thank you" Lex answered anyway.
Logan glanced at him, face still showing annoyance, but to a much lesser degree than he had been when he talked to the girl.
"Look, we don't have time for this" Logan sighed and pulled his glorious badge that was basically a cheat code to life.
The girl's eyes snapped to the badge so fast that Lex thought she was about to fall.
She stayed frozen like that for a few more seconds before Logan stuffed the badge into his small pouch.
When the girl got out of the initial shock, her eyes moved to Lex, scanning him up and down with a completely new expression.
Logan turned around with the intention of continuing their way to this 'camp', and waiting for Lex to do the same.
With one last apologetic look, Lex turned around and continued walking just behind Logan.
A few minutes of silence later, Lex decided to speak his mind. He never hid his thoughts or opinion from people and he wasn't about to start now.
"That wasn't necessary"
Logan turned around, still walking "what wasn't?"
"You speaking to her like this, she only wanted to help"
Logan sighed "I didn't intend to be mean to her, but we need to get to camp as soon as possible. I'm not trying to scare you" the last part was said more quietly.
"That's why we are walking calmly and not running full speed" he tried for a smile meant to imply that he was joking, but Lex had the feeling that the satyr meant every word.
They finally stopped in front of a large white car that didn't seem to be out of the ordinary in any way.
Logan stepped forward and opened the door for him before he went to sit next to the driver that was already seated there.
The whole thing felt extremely embarrassing for Lex. And the silence that followed the car ride just added to his need to disappear.
The whole time, Lex felt like he was in a dream. He didn't actually stop and process the fact that a satyr came to his school right after his mom was kidnapped and told him that he was a fricking demigod.
Like a son of a god kind of thing.
Now the question was which god?
Lex was never that talented in school, or in art or in anything really...
Wasn't a demigod supposed to be spectacular?
To be something special and unique?
But before Lex could proceed with this trail of stressing thoughts, he noticed that the car made a turn off from the road.
Other cars were honking at them, but the driver paid no mind to them and continued to drive deeper and deeper into the forest.
Lex found that he was entirely speechless. He sat there, experiencing a mental breakdown in silence.
After about ten minutes of driving on the surprisingly clear path in the forest, they came across an entrance... guarded by cyclopes?
What the actual Fuck.
Lex had never seen actual monsters. Not like that at least. So up close.
He knew that in farther places, monsters were more common, but none of them actually lived like next door or anything!
Or, in that case, guarded a door.
They were all wearing harsh expressions and even harsher armor. They had sharp spears in their hands and they stood unmoving on both sides of the white bricked entrance.
When they came close enough, one of the enormous cyclopes stepped forward and crouched down next to the car.
"Name" was all he said with a gruff voice.
"Logan" the satyr said with surprising calm. Unlike Lex who couldn't move from the amount of paralyzing fear he felt at that moment.
The cyclops nodded and the gate opened for them.
As they crossed through the gate, Lex noticed that their armor plates had a symbol on them. Two crossed swords and a spear in the middle, the official symbol of Olympus.
Yep, Lex was definitely absolutely terrified.
Those things, the divine things, were only far news for him. Something he needed to chant or something he needed to remember, not something he was actively living and seeing with his own two eyes!
When the car stopped, Logan and Lex got off and started walking towards an old looking arch made of some kind of white material.
There were trees all around them as they walked, and it looked like they were deep inside the forest, but Logan didn't look lost. He looked more and more excited with every step.
As they passed the arch, Lex found himself standing on top of a hill that looked down on the most beautiful place he had ever seen.
Beneath the hill stood a pastoral view. Small and large cabins stood proudly, all painted and decorated differently. There were nymphs and satyrs laying and enjoying the sun and what he assumed were demigods talking and playing.
"Welcome to camp Lex" Logan beamed at him. "Come on, I'll bring you to Nevara so she can register you"
Lex was already overwhelmed so it took him a few seconds to understand what Logan had just told him, but when he did, his eyes widened to the size of golf balls and he stopped dead in his tracks.
The only reason he was still moving forward, was because Logan was dragging him towards one of the bigger cabins.
Because the person they were going to meet was not a person at all, but a fricking goddess.
He was going to meet a fricking god.
Lex wasn't getting nervous easily, but by the gods, he was pretty sure he was going to get a panic attack.
When they reached the entrance of the cabin, Lex realised that he was so busy with panicking that he had no idea what he's going to say to the goddess of youth.
But.. he's a demigod? Right? So he'll probably be fine.. probably...
"Hi Logan" he heard a few kids shouting as they got close, but Logan just waved to them and said that he would talk to them later.
They both now stood in front of one set of light blue double doors. It had a lot of tiny drawings engraved on it, which made him even more nervous to look at.
He stood at the entrance and shuffled his feet, bracing himself for meeting a real goddess.
Logan raised his hand to knock, but before he even got the chance to-
"Hello there kiddie" a young woman maybe teenager that couldn't be more than twenty years old was now standing behind the open door.
She was wearing a long orange chiton like dress with long sleeves, and had wavy brown hair tied to a bun.
She wore a big warm smile on her face as she invited them both in with a wave of her hand.
Lex didn't know what he was afraid of. From the moment Lex laid his eyes on the goddess he felt like the most protected person in the world. It was probably because Lady Nevara was the protector and goddess of youth, but Lex felt so relieved that he didn't even care if the feeling was fake.
She led them to a brightly lit room, with light blue curtains that covered the walls. The room was spacious and held four lavish brown chairs in it.
Before Nevara could take a step farther into the room, she turned around to look at Lex more closely than the one second glance she took at the entrance to the cabin (that was actually much bigger than it looked from outside)
"Welcome to camp champ! I am the goddess Nevara, I'm runnin-"She started to talk, but when her eyes met his, she let out a small gasp. "My my" she said after a second of silence "it's really not hard to guess who your father is, is it?"
Just when she finished the sentence, a glowing blue xiphos sword had appeared above Lex.
Nevara nodded at the glowing symbol with curiosity, at the same time Logan smiled at him.
But Lex couldn't bring himself to notice their reaction or care about their presence in the room at the moment.
All he could do was stare at the glowing blue sword with wide eyes and hitched breaths. The world stopped and all that was left was the symbol.
That couldn't be true. His mom would have told him! She would have!
Knowing the symbols of the three main gods was basically lesson number one in every kindergarten. You couldn't possibly not know those things.
And now.. and now! It was literally above his head. Making itself part of his life. Part of his identity.
Because how?! How in the name of Olympus could the symbol of Lord Perseus hang above his head like a glorious banner?!
"Wha- What.. does that mean that he- that he is..."
He couldn't breathe. He couldn't think. And he was definitely experiencing a panic attack right now.
He didn't know if to laugh or to cry from the absurdity of the situation. He didn't even know if he was reading the situation correctly. All Lex knew is that this symbol meant tha-
“I know this isn’t ideal, for either of us. But you’re going to want to sit” A firm authoritative voice came from one of the brown chairs.
Lex looked down from the glowing sword to meet the sea green eyes of a man that looked to be in his mid thirties. He had wild black hair and a tan that indicated that he had just returned from a long day on the beach.
He was handsome, tall and had a strained smile on his face that seemed to become a bit more genuine when Lex looked back at him.
Lex only had a second to realize who was sitting in the (now not so empty) chair. The only thought that had time to pass in his mind was 'ah, we do look alike'
"My Lord" Nevara said calmly as she bowed, Logan following her example. Neither of them seemed very surprised at the fricking sea's king present.
Wait so he was.. he was his...
Lex wisely decided that he wasn't going to finish that thought.
At that moment Lex remembered that he was doing a really bad job at showing one of the three respect.
His teachers are going to be so disappointed in him...
He quickly followed Logan and Lady Nevara's example, bowing his head towards the god.
Well, that was until Logan elbowed him in the stomach lightly. "You don't need to bow. He's your father" he said frantically.
Lex raised his head with a hitched breath.
So.. it's... it's true.
He saw that they were all looking at him with different expressions.
Logan looked at him nervously, Nevara looked at him encouragingly and... the other god... looked at him gently, warmly.
Not something he expected from a mighty all powerful god.. but Lex guessed that he was his son so it made sense.. maybe?
"Sit, Lex" he told him quietly "we need to talk"
