Chapter Text

Hizashi wasn't sure of the hotel at first; it looked run down and not well cared for on the outside and not much better on the inside, with its stained carpets and roughed up furniture. But when they got to their room, he was pleasantly surprised; the beds were clean, the carpet unstained, and everything recently dusted. He could tell more work was put into the rooms than into the appearance of the hotel. He was grateful he didn't have to make Shouta and Hitoshi move back to the BNB and beg a room out of Charlie.

They hadn't been at the hotel long before Shouta had found a problem. Apparently, the kid, Abaddon, was traumatized, and Shouta wanted his help in figuring out how. Hizashi did not think he was qualified, but if his husband believed in him, he could believe in himself. So he set out to ask Kathrine, and if Hizashi could catch him, Nathan about Abaddon. He wasn't able to get much from Kathrine, other than that Abaddon has some unresolved issues that he needs to work through, so he turns to Nathan. He was able to get a bit more from Nathan, like the fact that the kid had been in an abusive situation before Nathan found him in a hole in the woods near the hotel. Hizashi thought it was ridiculous that a child was in a hole in the ground, outside, for who knows how long.

It made him mad just thinking about it, so over the next couple of days, he made sure to keep a bit of a closer eye on the boy. From what he had observed, Abaddon mostly plays by himself and wanders around the woods collecting bones and the like. Hizashi thought the collecting of bones was a little disturbing, but he wasn't about to make the kid stop. Not when that was probably the only thing keeping the kids' minds off what was done to him. He’d seen the kid carving symbols into the bones but thought nothing of it, writing it off as just something kids that age do. He hadn't been able to find anything more useful, but was still watching Abaddon when the boy had come up to him on the fifth day of Hizash, watching over the kid. “Why are you following me?” Abaddon looked angry as he had said it, “Just watching over you, you're a small child wandering around a large hotel, and an even larger forest. I'm just concerned for your safety, that's all, I swear.” The kid just stared at him before turning on his heel and running off further into the hotel. Hizashi had no idea what he was doing with this kid. He wasn't good with little kids; that's why he teaches teenagers and not elementary or junior high kids. This kid was different from any of the other kids he's met. Really, his only reference is Eri, and even she was a special case, but for how long this kid had been with this seemingly nice family, he should be getting better, but this could also just be how the kid is. Look at Bakugou, he was like that from birth.

Katherine's children were strange, but all kids were in their own unique way, he supposed. Esther had a strange fascination with the paranormal, and Ben seemed like he was just trying his best to stay sane, living with his sister and Abaddon. Since his conversation with Abaddon, if it could even be called a conversation, the kid had been more skittish around him and Shouta, staying as far away from them as possible. They didn't know what else to do but try to talk to Katherine more and maybe get some more information out of her, but he doubted that would work. Until then, they would just have to keep an eye on the kid and see if anything changed.

Notes:

might hiatus this for a while, we will see
