Chapter Text
Gus woke up at eight am, tired and warm. It took him a full minute of comfortable silence and cuddling to realize the warmth was coming from a person instead of his blanket. As soon as he notice he almost made a move to get up, to spare Matt's ego when he inevitably awoke but Matt's sleeping face and unconscious grabbing at him changed his mind.
He turned over to face the short witch and laid back down. Matt relaxed and cuddled in closer. He looked peaceful, the most peaceful Gus had ever seen. He didn't have the frustrated look to his face, he wasn't squinting at something and insisting he could see perfectly fine (no he didn't need glasses Augustus, he wasnt a fucking nerd), he just looked calm and sleepy.
It reminded Gus of the one other time he saw Matt this at ease; Matt's mom had forced him to watch his 4 year old cousin, Penelope, and it happened to be the day they planned to fix the graveyard more.
He had looked so calm, so soft, anytime he thought Gus wasn't looking, he acted happy and soft with her, completely at ease watching her. If you ever asked him though, Matt would insist that he hated watching her and that he was so annoyed at her tagging along, but Gus knew he didn't actually mind.
As Gus reminisced of Matt and Penelope, he felt a stirring in his arms. He watched as the brown haired boy blearily opened his eyes and stretched before he eventually settled on nuzzling into the warm chest infront of him. It took Matt only a minute to realize where he was, and that was all he needed to freak out and jump back, falling flat on his ass on the floor.
"..Are you okay?" Gus asked, looking over the edge of his bed at the defeated Mattholomule.
"...yeah." Matt groaned from the floor sitting up. Gus giggled and helped him off the floor, they went on with the day, having a nice breakfast and heading to the graveyard. It was a great day, sunny and warm, and comfortable, maybe it's because they had such a comfy morning. <3
