Chapter Text
Every day in Heaven was good. Even on days that didn’t feel the best, they never compared to bad days on earth. But today was probably the best day yet.
The weather was exactly what you wanted it to be, the clothes you wore were exactly what you wanted to wear, and the place you were was probably your new favorite place in heaven.
You were going to get married. You had never gotten married when you were alive, and you had made peace with that when you arrived here. But then you met the most amazing woman and fell head over heels. Your whole relationship had just felt right. You didn’t need to get married to prove how in love with her you were, but it made you happy to do it.
Waiting next to Emily was difficult. Lute had insisted that her wedding dress would be a surprise to you, but now that it was almost time for her to arrive, it was hard to be patient. Emily looked equally as excited, probably because she’d be officiating it. Emily often officiated weddings and seemed to really love doing so. She had been more than ecstatic when you had asked her to officiate for your wedding. The guests were everyone you and Lute had chosen to invite. Having them here brought you joy.
Finally, the wait was over. The guests, Emily, and you all looked when Lute entered the room. Her dress was breathtaking. It was all white and looked like it was made of feathers. It reached just knee height, so you could see that she was wearing white heeled boots. She wore long white gloves, and her hair was in a half up half down hairdo. You always thought Lute looked beautiful, but right now it was more true than ever.
Lute took her sweet time walking down the aisle. The song playing reminded you of your first date. The bouquet she held reminded you of the first time she had bought you flowers. Everything was just perfect.
Lute finally reached the end of the walk and took her place across from you while Emily was practically vibrating in place.
“We are gathered here today to honor two very special people! A celebration of love between our exorcist lieutenant and a winner of heaven. You may now say your vows!” Emily bounced in place. The two of you reached out to hold hands, and Lute started her vows first.
“My darling love, the day I met you was the day my life was forever entwined with yours. You showed me just how much more life could be. I promise to love you for the rest of time.”
“Lute, the love of my life, every step of our relationship has only brought me more joy. I never thought I’d be married in my life, let alone my afterlife, but now I couldn’t see it any other way. Every day I fall in love with you more, and I intend to do so for as long as you’ll let me.” Emily was crying happy tears, but wiped them away to continue to do her part.
“I now pronounce you married!” As Emily said that, she used magic to set off fireworks as you and Lute shared your first kiss as a married couple.
You never thought Heaven could get better, but now you would get to experience it getting better every single day of your life.
