Chapter Text
A crack. A crack in the tree one of the ancients had sacrificed themself to set up. The one who was keeping the fallen ancients in check and locked in. The former salt of solidarity now only known as black salt cookie, rides fast through the forest towards the fairy kingdom. He begged to himself that the others had gotten his letter and were on their way aswell. He didn’t know much on who had set the tree up other than Elder faerie cookie, nor did he know if the fallen ancients are out yet. He just knew he had to stop them no matter what. He had to make sure Elder faerie and the faerie kingdom was safe.
Soon he could see the glint of the kingdom in between the brown tree stumps, from this distance the kingdom looks peaceful. He could just hope he was in time as he picks the speed up towards the kingdom. As he got there he steps of his horse walking in with the horse following. The kingdom was still lively; it doesn't seem like anything has happened yet to his relief. He stops at a sign, the kingdom was a lot bigger than then when he was here the last time a couple centuries ago to make sure the tree was intact, back then it had been strong enough to handle even an witch attack but now with the report on the crack it could only mean the tree have grown weaker or perhaps the fallen ancients stronger.
Deep in thoughts he stands looking at the wooden sign trying to figure the directions to the silver tree. A fairy wearing the white knight uniform with fluffy short approached him tapping his arm. Salt turns around looking down at the newcomer as he speaks.
”Hello! I am guessing your black salt cookie. I’m silver bell. I was tasked with escorting you to the silver tree” Ah how lucky he was. Ofc he wasn’t hard to spot; he was a lot taller than the average cookie.
”That would be me.” He replied shortly to the faire that would respond.
”Wonderful! Please come with me.. do you want me to call a guard to take your horse? I'm sure it would be easier to work without!”
Salt scoffs the idea of leaving Nox salt alone. However leaving nox behind might be for the better. He remembers how small the corridors around The faerie kingdom were since his last visit, it was definitely too small to fit him and Nox alone.
”Very well. But if Nox salt ends up hurt..”
”No no we take good care of animals here!” Silver bell reassured Black salt as a few guards carefully led the horse away making sure to treat Nox salt gently under Black salts Watchful stare.
”Very well then, Lead the way” black salt replied. Silver bell started leading the way through a few alleys to the Main Street, then through some sort of building with a lot of pillars, before arriving at the higher ground of the city where you could see the green and sunny landscape of the forest. In the opening of the forest you could spot the silver tree. Even from this distance a huge crack could be seen in its bark. Black salt looks around. They appear to be alone on the platform.
”Are there any of the virtues here?” He asked, looking at silver bell for an answer.
”From my information it seems the only one here is you and the former fount of knowledge with two of his students, if I remember correctly.”
Ah, yes of course the former fount would be here, No matter. Having another virtue here would help keeping the fallen ancients in check. He turned to his side on his way to keep going before silver bell grabs his arm
”Sir, the silver tree is this way.” Silver bell pointed at some stairs leading down to a small road in the forest.
Before silver bell could get another word, Black salt changed direction and started heading down the road not even waiting for silver bell who was running to keep up with his fast walk. Walking down the road of the surprisingly quiet forest, he couldn’t make out a single animal sound the whole walk, only a weak wind puffing every now and then.
As he arrived near the tree he recognized the familiar silver hair. Elder faerie. Black salt approached slowly, happy and relieved to see him, to see he was okay.
”Elder faerie.” He took some steps closer as silverbell ran into the clearing. Elder Faerie turns around, he nods with that gentle smile black salt hasn't seen for ages.
”Greetings salt of solidarity. I saw you made it quickly. The former Fount of knowledge arrived here a while ago and is currently inspecting the cracks if you care to join.”
Black salt nodded, but, before he walked to the tree he wanted to exchange some words with his old friend, not that he knew what to say, he just wanted to say something.
”How have you been holding up?” He exclaimed a little too quickly for his liking. But Elder Faerie didn't seem to mind the knight's sudden exclamation at all.
”Well a lot of work in the kingdom. I would love to catch up on your adventures after this is all over. Perhaps dinner could do.”
Dinner.. right a dinner with elder farie, at moments like this he was glad for his helmet covering his whole face.
”I look forward to it.” Black salt passes him away to his old blue colleague.
