Chapter Text
It had been a while. The TV’s screen danced with colour - some movie Liara had chosen, but Elaine had spaced out long ago braiding her dearest’s hair. Watching Liara’s reaction to the movie. Appreciating what she had.
“I love you.” Elaine mumbled to herself. Liara giggled, “Pardon?” She tilted her head in such an infuriatingly endearing way. She was teasing. “You’re horrid.” Elaine deadpanned before turning away. “Awh, don’t be like that!” Liara whined before breaking out into a louder laugh. Even in her anger, Elaine couldn’t help but think of how carefree and beautiful Liara was to her. Fuck, she really got lucky, huh.
Elaine turned back to face Liara, admiring the way her cheeks were slightly flushed from laughing and her eyes sparkled. A ray of sunshine. Her ray of sunshine. Liara turned back to the TV, her long brown hair cascading down her back.
The TV slowly became background noise as Elaine continued braiding her beloved’s hair. When she felt Liara slouch against her chest, her heart melted. To see Liara so peaceful was a blessing. An angel had fallen into her arms and by God was she going to cherish that angel to the bitter end.
