Chapter Text

The next few days after that went by rather quickly, yet were filled with unbelievable levels of pain. Pain from your muscles! The training your parents made you go through was crazy. It seems like your fathers worry resulted in him making sure you're powerful enough to not get hurt.

Currently, you were on your fourth minute of holding up two 20kg weights, before finally hearing your mom clear her throat from the entrance to your house.

"William. I think this is enough for today. I can smell her from here."

"What?!" You quickly set the weights down, which immediately made you wince and grab your arms. Pushing through the pain, you hurriedly made your way into the house as your father panicked behind you "It can't be that bad, right?!" You yelled, already running up the stairs and only getting a small, high-pitched "Sorry!" from your father.

Around one hour of repeatedly washing your body over and over again later, you finally left the now overheated bathroom. Once inside your room, you let out a long, overdramatic groan as you hit the mattress of your bed, feeling your aching muscles relax. Just a little. After a quick search for where you put your phone, you finally found it as well as a comfortable position to doom-scroll in. The past week has been very chaotic for your fans, and it definitely showed on all of the social media platforms. You scrolled through the blood, sweat and tears of your fans begging you to reconsider for about 5 minutes, before putting the phone down.

..And then picking it back up to scroll some more. That was the plan at least, but your mothers knocks interrupted that.

You sat up straight in your bed, noticing the tray of high-protein food with a milkshake, and immediately reaching for it.

"Did you submit your hero costume yet, hon?" Your mother asked, sitting down next to you as you filled your mouth hurriedly. "..Slow down." ..oops.

"Uh.. I had a few- okay, wait" You tried replying, but immediately decided it's better to swallow first. After that, you spoke up again. "I had a few ideas and sketches, but I dunno.. It feels eh. I mean, for the lie about my skin to work, I have to wear a full bodysuit and.. that's lame." You huffed. Of course, there were accessories that could make the outfit cooler, but.. would that really be practical?

Your mom let out a chuckle under her breath, tilting her head and raising an eyebrow. "You can also not hide your identity?"

You tensed in response, looking down before mumbling. "..No. I need to. For now, of course..! I mean- I'll tell everyone eventually, just..."

"..Just?"

"..You're not my therapist, mom!" You laughed, jokingly attempting to punch her shoulder, which she countered with a hand from the shadow behind your bed. With a quirk like that, it's no wonder she's a top 50 hero.

"Child, I've bothered with you enough times to know when something is wrong. Despite your talent of hiding your emotions." She replied with a slightly annoyed huff, making you quickly look away with a guilty hum. "Maybe the idol thing was a bad idea. You didn't get to go to a normal middle school, make friends, make mistakes.." She sighed, taking your hand. "I'm so-"

"Mom! Stop it, you're gonna cry!" You whined, hoping to make the situation more light. "I'm fine! I've learnt so much throughout being an idol.. I wouldn't be as good at smiling as I am now without it, y'know? It was a great chapter of my life. Besides, I love music." You smiled, looking down at your hands. "It just got a bit boring.. and I guess I wanna be a bit more like you. So, really, mom. I'm glad my life is how it is."

Silence.

"My baby!" Your father suddenly cried from the entrance, dragging the words out. Within a second, he was already embracing you two, making you let out a startled sound.

"Wah! Alright, calm down!" You and your mom yelled at the same time.

"Sorry, sorry!"

You both sighed, before your mom stood up, taking your father with her.
"Make sure to show everyone there just how great of a person you are, darling." She smiled, her eyes softening as she looked at you.

"..Will do, mom." You smiled back. And immediately got yelled at as she dragged your father out the room.

"And design your darn costume!"

Sigh.

____________________________

You spent the next day designing your costume. You had to make it look extra good to make up for the fact you can't show your face. But also practical. Though.. what would be considered practical for your quirk? Light. You're surprised there's no pro hero with such a quirk. It sounds pretty obvious. Though, it is pretty powerful. Maybe something like Star and Stripes suit would work? You adore her, so much that you have merch of her in your room, but would that look good on you? And a cape isn't very practical..

With a groan, you buried your face into your hands. This was way harder than you thought it would be! You were convinced you'd just take ten minutes to draw something cool and that's all. But obviously you have to put actual thought into it! Guess you got used to everything being handed to you. After all, you really didn't have to work for anything in your life. Your mother's a great hero, and your father is a news reporter, so money was never a problem. Your career was easy, too. Your fathers friend saw potential in you and took care of it. Hiding your real name and parents, of course. For the fans, you're just Light. Incredibly original. And now, getting into UA was as simple as being recommended by your parents.

"Ughhh... dammit! Lock in!" You gently slapped yourself on the cheeks, looking down at the papers with a newfound determination. One to not be a lazy idiot.

Your pen danced on many different sheets of paper for the next hour or two, until you finally came to halt. You blinked, looking down at the design you created, before grabbing it and rushing to run to your parents. After they looked it over and suggested a few practical changes, you all reached the final design. Ten minutes later, you landed on your bed, letting out a long, deserved sigh. You stretched with a groan, your eyes closing. In two days, you'll meet your class.

...How totally not ominous sounding.

You'll just be seeing people that trained for this their entire lives. Nothing crazy..!

Jeez, maybe you really don't deserve being in this school!

...Following that train of thought, you couldn't fall asleep for the next hour.

The day before your first day of UA, you fought all your worries by busying yourself with anything else. Doing the laundry, training, eating, watching random youtube videos about space.. anything that came up on your fyp, really. But mostly, you've managed to focus on training your quirk. Now that you thought about it, you were never a master at using it. Sure, you played with the lights during your concerts here and there, but other than that, you only imagined cool moves you could do - like making a full armor and a spear out of light, or moving objects with the light thats around them! But you never tried that out. Surely, you will try them in UA, though, right?

For now, you focused on your ability to move with the speed of light. A bit. The truth is, you could only move around 5 meters in one go, but you're starting to get the hang of using it over and over again. It looks like you're teleporting, actually, but that's not the case. So, you made yourself a DIY obstacle course and trained on that for a few hours, before moving on to solidifying light underneath yourself to stand on it, or - after you improve some more - to make walls to bounce off of during attacks.

All in one, you had a pretty juicy day of avoiding all your fears and worries!

____________________________

Finally, the day has come. You woke up three hours before you actually had to out of nerves and excitement mixed up in your stomach in the form of cramps. You spent around ten minutes looking at your messy self in the mirror before rushing to get ready in a fury.

"Mom, where's my uniform?! I had it ready in the bathroom..!" You yelled, your barely awake parents glaring at you from the kitchen.

"I didn't touch it.." Your mom muttered groggily, as your dad groaned. "I think I put it on the clotheshorse..?

"Dad!" You huffed, before hurriedly taking your uniform from the clotheshorse and running back up the stairs to change.

"Don't forget your bodysuit, dear!" Your mom yelled after you, and you immediately cringed at the thought. Your eyes locked onto the bodysuit that was meant to hide your identity. God, you're gonna sweat in that. You sighed, before putting it on, struggling with your hair for a bit. The suit had little holes with super thin material in them for your eyes and nose so you could see and breathe, but you were sure it looked bad. What mattered was that they wouldn't recognize you for now. If they don't like you without seeing your gorgeous self, then they don't deserve you at all!

..That's probably what your father would say, at the very least.

"This sucks.." you mumbled, your voice muffled by the material, before you put the UA uniform on as well, along with some accessories to add even a little bit of personality. After a quick lookover to make sure everything looks good, you walked back downstairs, giving your parents a little swirl. "So?"

"Not bad for someone that looks bald and faceless." Your mom smirked, drinking her coffee.

"..Alright." you glared at her, crossing your arms. "Do the teachers know?"

"They do, yes." she hummed, taking another sip. "The principal was skeptical about it, but agreed and passed the word on to the teachers."

"'Kay." you replied while eyeing the breakfast your mom made. There was a moment of silence, before she spoke up.

"..yeah, eat." - No more words were needed.

After consuming the meal and having your taste buds blessed, you wandered around the house for an hour until sitting down in your room, facing the mirror. You were not nervous. Absolutely not! After all, you have all the charisma a person could want! You'll do great. With a deep breath, you got up and walked down the stairs, each step feeling like you're going on your own execution.

"Hurry up, the train won't wait for you." Your mom came out of the living room, smiling at you in a way that was both snarky and soft. "You can't be late to your first day." Your father peeked out from behind her, already tearing up.

"You're all grown up!" He cried as you dodged his hug.

"I gotta go!" You chuckled in a panic, already putting your shoes and headphones on, and readjusting your backpack before opening the door. You hesitated, looking back at your parents. After a moment, you gently smiled at them, even though they couldn't see it. "Bye, love you!"

"Love you too!"

Your footsteps were faster than usual as you made your way to the train, every emotion one could ever feel festering inside of you. What if the class is far more determined than you? Nope! No, no, you had to keep yourself sane for the next 30 minutes of finding your way to UA.

You failed. Horribly. You got extremely nauseous on the train, but still somehow made it to the school. The school that was incredibly large. You looked up, blinking a couple of times at the sheer size of the building. You saw it from a distance, sure, but you never realized it was this bad. Maybe you should've come earlier to actually find your way. You took a deep breath in, before taking your headphones off to hear what's happening around you. And so, passing many students on the way, you tried to find the 1-A classroom in the endless hallways. The problem is you could barely see in the swarm of people, so it's really no surprise when you almost bumped into a girl. One that was quite literally just floating clothes. You stood still for a moment, before clearing your throat.

"Oh- sorry! I was too occupied looking for my class!" You quickly bowed to apologize, before she panicked.

"No, no! It's totally okay, I wasn't looking as well!" She said, her voice cracking a bit. "Are you new here too? What class are you in?"

"Yeah, I'm new." You hummed in embarrassment. "I'm in class 1-A." You continued, and then quickly said your name as well. The girls immediate movement showed her excitement as she heard you share a class.

"I'm Toru Hagakure, I'm in class 1-A too! Gee, I'm so glad I found someone like you..!" She let out a sigh of relief. You lit up a bit, the nervousness slowly subsiding.

"I thought I was done for in these halls.. at least we can search together now!" You chuckled. "Grab my hand? I feel like I'm going to lose you otherwise.." Your hand scratched the back of your neck, before you felt her hand gently touching yours.

"Yeah, better get real close!" She giggled, and you two steadily made your way through the hallways in a surprisingly comfortable silence. The first day of school mixed with fear surely forms bonds quite quickly.

"I know it's stupid to say, since there was hundreds if not thousands of people there, but I didn't see you at any exams..?" Hagakure suddenly spoke up. You could easily tell she was smiling, even though she was invisible.

"Oh, yeah, I got in with a recommendation, ha.." You nervously smiled. "My parents are rich." You added with a quick shrug, looking down.

"Hoo Hoo, a rich girl! What do they do?- Wait, we found it, look!" Thank God she cut that question off. Your eyes followed her pointer finger, noticing the hilariously oversized door with a huge "1-A" text. You two looked at it for a moment, before laughing.

"We'd be pretty darn stupid if we missed these!" She wheezed, leaning on you for balance while you wobbled on your feet, laughing along with her.

After you two slowly calmed down, you approached the large entrance, your hand letting go of hers,

"Do the honors?" She hummed, turning to you.

"Oh-! Uh! Uhm! Well!" You blinked, looking over the door again. Your stomach twirled itself into a knot as you gulped, taking a step back. "..Actually, I might need to go to the toilet real quick.. Wouldn't wanna hold it in during the lesson, haha..!" Your voice cracked slightly. Hagakure stayed silent for a few seconds, before speaking up. "Okay!" She beamed, before entering the class by herself. Wow. Seems like she's a bigger extrovert than you!

..And you're quite literally a celebrity.

You sighed to yourself, leaning against the wall next to the door, your eyes closing for a second. C'mon, you can do it. You've been on a stage with thousands of people before. Why are you so nervous? A minute passed, and the chaos of students around you seemed to subside, as you could no longer hear any footsteps.

You pushed yourself off the wall, opening your eyes-

"Ack!-"

You stiffened, quickly jumping away and letting out a noise of surprise similiar to the one the other person made. A green-haired boy with freckles stood before you, clearly hoping to get into the class.

"Sorry, sorry! Darn, this is the second time I almost bump into someone today, I'm so sorry!" You apologized, bowing a little before noticing his panic.

"No, no, no, it's fine! It's completely fine! I was so nervous that I didn't notice you..." He replied in a high-pitched voice, waving his hands.

"Yeah, I get it.. you're in class 1-A, too, I take it? Me too!" You smiled under the material, adding in your name before he could reply.

"Nice to meet you! I'm Izuku Midoriya!" He smiled shyly, yet with a hint of determination. Cute. "I hope our class is as nice as you.." He sighed under his breath and finally opened the door. You tensed, but walked in alongside him.

"Take your feet off of that desk now!" You heard, raising an eyebrow at the sight of a blue haired guy standing over a blondes desk, who seemed not bothered at all. He smirked in response, letting out a cocky "Huh?"

"It's the first day and you're already disrespecting this academy by scuffing school property, you cretin!"

"You're kidding me, right? Your old school put a stick up your ass, or were you born with it?"

..You decided it's best to ignore them for now. You tried to silence their loud voices and moved your eyes onto Midoriya, who was having a slight crisis at the sight of them. Couldn't blame him! You shared him expression of doom and despair, before hearing the class gasp and turn their heads towards you two.

"Uh, hi!-" Izuku blushed, immediately looking away from all the eyes. You blinked, looking between the class and Izuku, confused as to what the commotion was. When you looked back at the obvious soon to be teacher's pet, he was already striding towards you two.

"Good morning! My name is Tenya IIda from the-" Iida, huh? Noted.

"Yeah, I-I know!.." Izuku interrupted, once again using waving his hands. "..I'm Izuku Midoriya. It's super nice to meet you."

"...Midoriya. You realized that there was something more to the practical exam, didn't you? You must be very perceptive, and I completely misjudged you, I admit! As a student, you're far superior to me." You and Midoriya shared a quick look, before he spoke up again.

"Really, there's no need to be so amazed. I just saw someone in need of help." He smiled, his eyes closing alongside it.

"...I see. That is truly a sign of you having great potential for a future hero, Midoriya." He nodded, before his eyes met yours through the thin fabric that let you see through the material. "And who might you be?"

You stiffened, before quickly replying with your name. "I got in through a very late recommendation!" you added skittishly.

"I see. If you're here by recommendation, then you must be of great potential as well." He nodded, and before he could say anything more, another voice popped up from behind you.

"Hey! I recognize that messed-up hair!" You turned around, face to face with a cute girl with rosy cheeks. Midoriya let out a small gasp next to you. "Falling boy!" She continued to yap about the practical exam, and.. honestly? You have no idea what she was talking about. You took a step back. Then two. And then turned around to see Hagakure sitting down in the front row and automatically made your way to the only other person you knew.

"Hagaku-"

"If you're just here to make friends then you can pack up your stuff now."

Everyone froze. The entire class looked towards a black-haired, clearly sleep-deprived man in a yellow sleeping bag.

"Welcome to UAs hero course." He mumbled, slowly getting out of the sleeping bag. "It took eight seconds before you all shut up. That's not gonna work. Time is precious. Rational students would understand that."

"Hello, I'm Shota Aizawa. Your teacher."

No way! Jeez, no, you can't deal with another annoying, unempathetic teacher like that one math hag in middle school before you started getting home schooled! No! Please!

"Right, let's get to it. Put these on and head outside." Mr. Aizawa said, taking out a uniform clearly made for training. Everyone looked at each other in confusion as he walked off to wait for you all to go to the changing rooms.

"..What do you think he wants us to do?" Hagakure asked as she got up and headed to take the uniform made for her. You took your own, too, and followed alongside her as he showed you all the changing rooms.

"..Maybe he wants to see our quirks up close? Examine them to make specified training for us?" You wondered, putting a finger up to your chin as you walked into the girls changing room.

"That's a good idea. It probably is that." Another voice spoke up, this one slightly deadpan and blunt. You looked towards it and saw a girl with long, dark sea-green colored hair. So pretty!

"I agree. It is expected. For a teacher to train us well, they have to know how our quirks operate and with what we have problems." Another girl with black hair said. She held herself pretty confidently, yet also seemed quite humble.

"Yeah. Oh, hey, how about we introduce ourselves?" You smiled under the material, taking your uniform off just like they did.

"Very well. My name is Yaoyorozu Momo. It is a pleasure to meet you all." The black-haired girl spoke with a soft smile. After her followed the green-haired girl that spoke up before her, Tsuyu Asui, and then the rest - Ochaco Uraraka, Kyoka Jiro, Mina Ashido, Hagakure Toru and finally, you.

"I'm wondering, sorry if it's a rude question, but what is the bodysuit for? We can't even see your face!" Uraraka spoke up with an apologetic smile, as if she was already worried she crossed a boundary. How adorable! You couldn't help but smile at the sight.

"It's a valid question, don't worry! My skin is extra sensitive to light due to my quirk, so to avoid any damage, I need to cover myself up... it's a shame, really. I look ridiculous.." You sighed softly, looking down.

"You've got a very pretty silhouette, though! Gotta see the positives!" Hagakure swooped in to save the day as the other girls nodded at her words. Right. She's invisible and you're over here whining about not being able to show your face.

"..Thank you! You too.." You replied, blushing and focusing on putting the training outfit on. Actually, maybe having your face hidden isn't such a bad thing..!

You dissociated a little during the walk to the training field. All these people in your class seemed very determined, and most of all - strong. They either had the confidence in their speech, or in how they held themselves. You felt like a larper. But.. there's nothing wrong with not having everything figured out, right? What matters is that you're here, and you're gonna do your best and beyond. You took a deep breath with newfound resolve.

"You're having a quirk assessment test."

...

"Huuuh?!" The entirety of the class gasped, eyes widening in horror. You thought about simply running away, but it was far too late for that. You've already started liking the class. "What?! A quirk assessment test?!"

"But.. orientation, we're gonna miss it!" Ochacho faltered. Darn it.. you were looking forward to orientation.

"If you really wanna make the big leagues, you can't waste time on pointless ceremonies." Mr. Aizawa replied, his back turned to you all. You let out a breath of disbelief, the rest of the class reacting similarly. "Here at UA, we're not tethered to traditions. That means that I get to run my class however I see fit." He slowly turned to look at everyone.

"You've been taking standardized tests most of your lives, but you never got to use your quirks in physical exams before. The country's still trying to pretend we're all created equal by not letting those with the most power excel. It's not rational. One day, the Ministry of Education will learn."

He had a point, yes, but it's your first day. Surely he realizes how nerve-wracking this it, right? Or maybe he doesn't care.

"Bakugo, you managed to get the most points on the entrance exam." The teacher turned towards the blonde with anger issues from when you entered the classroom. So Bakugo was his name? Noted. Keep away from Bakugo, at all costs. "What was your farthest distance throw with a softball when you were in junior high?"

"67 meters, I think."

"Right. Try doing it with your quirk." Bakugo nodded, making his way to the circle with way too much confidence for someone like him. "Anything goes, just stay in the circle." Mr. Aizawa continued.

"Go on. You're wasting our time."

"All right, man, you asked for it." Bakugo replied, stretching. You watched him carefully, letting out a small huff under your breath. He really needed to be put in his place.

"How far do you think he'll throw it?" A voice spoke up from behind you. You blinked, turning around to look at a small guy with purple balls as hair. He had a quite creepy smile on his face. You could almost swear you knew- wait. You've seen him during your concert before!

"Dunno..? I don't know his quirk, so..?" You looked away. There was a very weird coming off from this guy. And besides, you can't let a potential fan figure you out. You very slowly walked away and stood next to Hagakure and a guy with a huge tail, continuing to watch Bakugo. A second later, and your eyes closed as a huge explosion came out of Bakugos hand, along with him yelling "Die!" on top of his lungs. Oh. Now you know why he's so cocky.

"All of you need to know your maximum capabilites." Mr. Aizawa started as the ball landed far away from you all. "It's the most rational way of figuring out your potential as a pro-hero" He turned to you all, showing the distance the ball travelled.

705.2 meters?! Everyone in the class reacted accordingly, all excited about the possibility of showing off. But the look on your teachers face.. oh, you knew it wasn't gonna be fun and games. You swallowed instinctively. Distance throw... you wouldn't do well at that. You have no idea how to use your light to move objects yet. You don't even know if it's possible.

"So this looks fun, huh?" Mr. Aizawas voice cut through your thoughts. "You have three years here to become a hero. You think it's all gonna be games and play time? Idiots." You called it.

"Today you'll compete in eight physical tests to gauge your potential. Whoever comes in last has none, and will be expelled immediately."

"Huh?!" Shit! Did you jinx yourself?! It's fine, it's fine. You'll do well.

"Like I said, I get to decide how this class runs. Understand?" That look in Mr. Aizawas eyes told you everything. He actually is serious? You were hoping he was lying to boost your determination, but you're a good lie detector. "If that's a problem, you can head home right now."

"You can't send one of us home! I mean, we just got here! Even if it wasn't the first day, that isn't fair!" Uraraka spoke up, her voice more high-pitched than usual, probably from nerves.

"Oh, and you think natural disasters are? Or power-hungry villains, hm?" Everyones shoulders sunk a little. "Or catastrophic accidents that wipe out whole cities? No. The world is full of unfairness. It's a hero's job to try to combat that unfairness. If you wanna be a pro, you're gonna have to push yourself to the brink. For the next three years, UA will throw one terrible hardship after another at you. So go beyond, Plus Ultra-style"

"Show me it's no mistake that you're here" ..Holy motivation method.

Goosebumps went up your skin, before a purple-eyed boy spoke up next to you. "Don't worry, mon cœur, we'll do fine."

"...?" You slowly turned your head his way, before clearing your throat. "..Thank you for the comfort!" You laughed awkwardly. "You are..?"

"Yuga Aoyama, en chair et en os!" Aoyama posed dramatically, extending his hand up towards the sky. You stood there in silence for a few seconds, before you spoke up. "..Are you actually french or are you just throwing random words around..?" You mumbled, but Mr. Aizawa spoke up again, saving you.

"Now then, we're just wasting time by talking. Let the games begin."

The first test was the 50-Meter Dash.

"Runners, on your marks. Ready--" A gunshot sound was heard, and you immediately took off, using the ability you practiced throughout last week. "4.17 seconds!" You heard, landing on your hand and boosting yourself up, twirling in the sky before landing with style. Showing off to new people is always a rush, isn't it? You heard a faint scoff from Bakugo and gave him a side-eye that he couldn't even see.

"That was so cool! Your quirk is so cool! You're so cool!" Hagakure ran up to you, and you both made your way to the line of people that already had their turn. "Yeah, you move so gracefully, it's so manly!" A spiky, red haired guy spoke up, making a fist and bumping it up.

You beamed, your cheeks heating up under the material as you laughed. "Thank you so much-" you were cut off as Hagakure jumped to hug you from the back in excitement, and the red haired guy spoke up again. "What's your quirk? Some teleportation?"

"Light!"

"That's so OP! How unfair!" A black-haired guy huffed, looking at his arms. "Yours is tape, right? I saw you use it, it's super cool, too!" You took a step closer to him. His cheeks warmed up visibly as he looked away and chuckled "Thanks. I'm Sero."

You smiled, before introducing yourself to everyone in the line, the others also saying their names.

"Hey, so, I'm curious, what's up with the bodysuit?" Sato asked, walking closer to the group.

"Oh-" You let out, before Mina jumped in at the opportunity to explain it for you. You sighed in relief, turning to watch the others finish their turn.

"She's got, like, super sensitive skin, so she has to cover it up to not get burns!" She explained, swinging her arm around your neck.

"That's gotta suck, man." Sero hummed, looking at you.

"It's life. I gotta get used to it." You shrugged, your voice cracking slightly at the lie as you kept your sight on the others running. "Yeah, but still. At least your skin can breathe at night, right?" Kirishima tried cheering you up. But that only made you tense more. Your eyes widened as you realized that, yes, you will in fact have no excuse for hiding yourself at sleepovers etc. But.. the moon does reflect sunlight, so..? Maybe that would work with them? You can only hope.

"..Right!"

The second test was Grip Strength. This was one of the tests on which you unfortunately couldn't use your quirk. Which sucked. While thinking about whatever you could make up, like imagining some cool scenarios, you finally arrived at your limit when you felt your arm give up. With a single click, you let out a groan mixed with a sigh of relief, feeling the weight disappear. You looked at the result which said "54kg", and shrugged. It's.. decent. You put the weight down, stretching your arm and looking around at all the others.

"Wow!" You heard, turning to look at Sero, Mineta and the guy with multiple large arms. "You hit 540 kilograms?! You're such a beast!" With a few steps, you were already next to them, looking at the weight yourself.

"Yeah, like a muscle-y octopus!" Mineta gapped, before he noticed you. "AH! When did you get here?!" He jumped, blushing immediately.

"Right now." You replied, making your voice deeper in fear he'd recognize it, even though it's muffled by the bodysuit, before looking back at the tall guy. Your new biggest fear is Mineta. "Your quirk's so cool, were you born with such strength or is it mostly the result of your hard work?"

"Both." He replied, looking down at you. "I'm Shoji. Nice to meet you. I saw you use your quirk earlier, too. It's impressive."

Another friend added! Who thought it would be this easy?

Next came the Standing Long Jump. You easily cleared it with your quirk.

Repeated Side Steps was also fairly easy.

Right now, you were waiting for your turn in the Ball Throw, right behind the circle Izuku currently stood in. He was sure taking his sweet ti- oh, he's throwing it!

"46 meters!"

..Well, maybe your result won't be that bad, then! You leaned closer as you heard Izuku mumble under his breath. "What gives? I was trying to use it just now?"

"I erased your quirk." Mr. Aizawa scoffed. You tensed at the tone in his voice, turning to look at him. His hair and scarf were floating, adding in to his absolutely terrifying air. "The judges for this exam were not rational enough. Someone like you should never be allowed to enroll at this school."

"..Wait, you did what to my-" Izuku cut himself off with a gasp. What the hell was happening? "Those goggles..! I know you! You can look at someone and cancel out their powers. The Erasure hero, Eraser head!"

You could hear the rest of the class reactions that varied from not knowing what's going on to recognizing your teacher. You, yourself, had no idea. Maybe you should've studied heroes better before trying to become one.. Hey, you like Star and Stripe and Hawks! And your mom!

"You're not ready. You don't have control over your power. Were you planning to break your bones again? Counting on someone else to save your useless body?" Mr. Aizawa continued, at which you frowned. This was the first day for everythings sake! The school is supposed to teach you, not expect you to already have everything worked out!

"N-no, that's not what I was trying to do-!" Midoriya was cut off as Mr. Aizawas scarf wrapped around him and pulled him in close. You looked back at the class, noticing they had no idea what Mr. Aizawa was saying. Well now this was just awkward. Only you could hear their conversation! Do you pretend you're deaf, or..?

"No matter what your intentions are, you would be nothing more than a liability in battle. You have the same reckless passion as another overzealous hero I know. One who saved a thousand people by himself and became a legend. But even with that drive, you're worthless if you can only throw a single punch before breaking down. Sorry, Midoriya. With your power, there's no way you can become a hero."

You felt your hands turn into fists in anger. God, you hated teachers that acted like they know everything and are better than everyone else. It took a lot in you to not interfere, but you couldn't fight this battle for Midoriya. Even if his terrified reaction was hard to look at.

Mr. Aizawas scarf slowly unwrapped itself from around Izuku, and you watched as the boy looked down.

"I've returned your impractical quirk. Take your final throw." Mr. Aizawa muttered, walking away. "Hurry, and get it over with."

You glared at the teacher behind his back, your hand slowly reaching out to Midoriya, yet you stopped yourself. He seemed deep in thought, so you deemed it was better to leave him. Your eyes followed him as he slowly made his way back to the circle, looking down at the ground.

After a minute, he actually made a move, throwing the ball with newfound determination. Your eyes widened slightly at the impact it made, looking away as a faint gust of wind blew your way.

"705.3 meters!"

"Mr. Aizawa.. You see? I'm still standing!" Midoriya exclaimed, holding up his first, his finger now broken.

Your lips parted a little at the look on his face. You knew the people in this class would be top-skill. That they would be the most determined people out there. But you still weren't prepared for this. His resolve affected your own, too. Your heart sped up just a little. He was.. so cool!

You didn't even notice Bakugo charging at him before he pushed by you, resulting in you hitting the ground. Ouch, your ass!!

"Deku, you bastard! Tell me how you did that, or you're dead!" Bakugo yelled in rage, as Izuku immediately screamed in fear. Fortunately, Mr. Aizawas scarf caught Bakugo in time

"..Tch..! What? Why the hell is your damn scarf.. so strong!?" Bakugo struggled, looking back at the teacher.

"Because it's a capture weapon made out of carbon fiber and a special metal alloy. Stand down." It'd be wise to avoid making me use my quirk so much.."

"It gives me serious dry eye." He continued.

..Pfft.

"You're wasting my time now. Whoever's next can step up."

Oh! Your time! Dammit, now you feel like you're gonna embarrass yourself after Izuku's result..

You moved to get up, glaring at Bakugo, but a hand was extended towards you. Your eyes met Izukus, and you smiled right away, taking his help with gratitude. "Thank you." You nodded at him, and he replied with an embarrassed noise and blush rising to his cheeks. You had to bite your lip in order not to laugh.

Finally, you walked to the circle..

...You got 49 meters.

Then came the distance run, seated toe-touch, and sit ups, on which you did pretty well. Especially on the distance run, since you could use the same exact technique as you used in all the other tests. Damn, you need a new move. God, you were beat.

At the end of it all, you all stood in a group. You caught your breath, your shoulders sunken while you waited for the results.

"Alright, time to give you your results. I've ranked you all from best to worst. You should probably have a good idea of your standing already. I'll just pull up the whole list. It's not worth going over each individual score."

Your eyes immediately scanned the numbers, before noticing yourself on 7th place. You immediately sighed in relief. You weren't going ho-

"And I was lying, no one's going home." What.

"That was just a rational deception to make sure you gave it your all in the tests." No it wasn't! You knew it wasn't! What?! Your jaw dropped, just like some others.

"I'm surprised the rest of you didn't figure that out.. I'm sorry, I guess I probably should have said something." Momo said with obvious concern.

Now hold on, you knew damn well Mr. Aizawa wasn't lying. He just must've changed his mind last second! Or was your lie detector broken?

"That's it, we're done for the day. Pick up a syllabus in the classroom. Read it over before tomorrow morning." You perked up, instantly turning to go back to the classroom. You stopped as you saw Mr. Aizawa handing Midoriya the syllabus and telling him to see Recovery Girl. You'll check up on him later.

"Hey, bae!" Mina yelled after you just as you were about to walk off to the classroom. You jumped in surprise, before turning to look at her. "Mina! What's up?"

"I was totally scared of Mr. Aizawa.. I really thought he'd send one of us home!" She groaned, walking beside you towards the entrance.

"Yeah.." You chuckled.

"He kind of reminds me of my teacher from junior high, he was such a-"

Mina continued rambling on about some past stories while you listened, and a couple of the others joined in. Soon enough, everyone picked up their syllabus in the class, and you said goodbye to them all as you hurried to Recovery Girls office. Well.. actually, you tried to find it but ended up getting lost and asking some guy from the third class with blonde hair pointing upwards for directions.

You reached Recovery Girls office, and knocked on the door, before sliding it open and peeking in. You saw Midoriya, obviously tired in a chair and Recovery Girl handing him some candy. They both turned to you after a second, and you quickly waved at them. "Hello! I was just hoping to check up on Midoriya, sorry...!"

"M-me?!" Izuku's eyes widened, his cheeks turning red. Recovery Girl chuckled at the sight, hurrying Izuku off the chair. "Go, go, your girl's waiting for you."

"Oh, that's not!-" He tried to explain as your lips turned into a weary smile at the obvious grandma behaviour.

"Just go!" She pushed him towards you, and you both left the office, the door shutting behind you.

"Sorry, did you wanna rest some more?" You apologized, scratching your neck.

"Wha- No, no! It's alright. Thank you for, uh.. coming to check up on me.." He kept his gaze away from you, smiling nervously. You started walking together, and you quickly replied.

"No problem. I was worried after hearing what Mr. Aizawa said, but you still pushed through! It was so cool.." His eyes widened even more at the compliment.

"Aha..! It's nothing much.."

"It is to me." You hummed softly under your breath. You really wish you had as much determination as he did. He kept silent for a second, finally looking at you, before clearing his throat. "Mr. Aizawa really was scary.. but he was saying the truth."

"You think? I totally disagreed with what he said!" You huffed, fixing your bags strap. "It's our first year, of course we're not gonna know how to do some things. What matters is our potential and drive to be a hero." ..Maybe that's why you were worried you'd be expelled? Your drive to be a hero..

You quickly continued, anyway! "What's a teachers worth if they don't want to spend their time teaching us?"

"I get what you're saying, but a hero's job is difficult. It's one that comes with the risk of losing your life. He's just taking care of children than can live a happy life." He replied gently. You paused for a second, before mumbling.

"..I.. didn't think of that."

Slap! A hand was placed on Midoriyas shoulder, and you both swirled around in a panic at the sudden interruption.

"Ah! Hey there, IIda!" Midoriya jittered.

"How's the broken finger doing?" Iida asked, serious as always. Somehow, though, it was fairly adorable.

"O-oh! It's doing fine, thanks to Recovery Girl." Midoriya showed his bandaged finger off, making Iida inspect it, putting his hand up to his chin. "I see" Iida murmured, before turning to you.

"I saw you did very well during the tests. Your quirk is truly amazing." He nodded, joining the two of you in your walk. Your eyes lit up a bit as you replied. "Thank you so much! I've been getting compliments all day long.. I feel all fuzzy."

"It's only the truth." Iida replied. Was he aware of how much he was sweet-talking you? You let out a faint sound of happiness.

"I was a bit concerned by Mr. Aizawas approach to class, but I trust the schools judgement. UA is the top program." Iida continued. You noticed he used hand-gestures a lot to highlight his words. "Even so, lying is downright immoral." You parted your lips to reply, but a certain someone interrupted.

"Heyyy! Wait up, you guys! Are you going to the station? I''ll join you guys!" A familiar voice yelled from behind you. You looked back, immediately smiling. "Uraraka!" you waved, and she replied by yelling your name in return.

"Oh you're the infinity girl." Iida noted.

"I'm Ochaco Uraraka! Let's see.. you are Tenya Iida, and your name is.. Deku, right? Midoriya?" Huh? Deku?

"Deku?!" Izuku stiffened. Now you're curious! What's the lore here?

"..Uh, yeah, isn't that what Bakugo called you? During the fitness test, he said "Deku, you bastard!", right?" Uraraka tilted her head curiously, her smile still on.

"Uh! Well! My name's actually Izuku.. Deku's what Kacchan calls to make fun of me!"

"That's unsportsmanlike" Iida muttered.

"Deku's cute, though!" You hummed, and Uraraka immediately agreed. "Yeah! You're right!"

"Deku it is!" Izuku exclaimed with a red face.

"Just like that?!" Iida reacted. "Weren't you saying that it was an insult?!"

"Paradigm shift! My whole word is upside down!"

You and Uraraka both blinked, turning your heads to one another in confusion while Deku laughed to himself in obvious panic.

And so, your first day at UA ended.

Notes:

HOLY Midoriya glaze I did in this chapter LMAO
I'm trying to make it so that you can't tell who my favourites are.. idk if im succeeding.
Anyway, I might start using [reader] or [name] for dialogues, I hope that's not a problem.
This took me way too long because I had to follow the dialogue and events that were already in the show, so I rewatched the same 6 minutes of episode 5 like 40 times and now I gotta reread this entire thing to correct mistakes.

I hate this episode now.

Notes:

Can't believe the first thing I post on this is a BNHA/reader fic im such a chud
I wrote this at night and haven't read through it so it might have some mistakes. Many probably... BUT ITS OK GUYS!!!
Next chapter is the first day of school;P
