Chapter Text
Emma, was past the point of listening to her parents words of warning.
She's listened for long enough, and she can't go on living like this. Filled with the grief and guilt of Regina's death.
So, she does it. She turns, takes the precious gem like stone from her jacket pocket.
She holds it between both hands, in a praying position, and begins chanting the words of another language. One's that will grant her true desire.
No more over thinking, just clarity.
And then it happens.
A cloud of dark smoke, begins to circle her. Its not her usual white signature, but dark grey smoke.
It feels suffocating at first, but she can feel herself being transported and within the next moment the smoke clears, and she is standing in front of her parents and Killian.
She instantly takes a step back, a little unsteady, as she waits for the lingering wooziness to pass. She still wasn't used to be transported, and this was a big one.
"Swan, what was that? I thought you wasn't using magic anymore" Killian huffs, whilst Mary-Margaret and David look concerned.
Emma ignores him and takes a deep breath. Before looking to her parents.
"Mom, dad, what is todays date? the year?" she asks. She needs to know, she didn't fuck up.
"What do you mean what year is it!" Killian snaps, and Emma snaps her head towards him and glares.
"Don't you dare say another word, or Ill magic you into the sea you no good pirate" she snaps back at him, and her gaze, holds no room for argument.
Killian looks surprised by her words and speechless at her words, and she turns back to her parents.
"What is todays date?" she asks again.
"Honey, are you feeling okay?" her mother asks, and Emma huffs.
"I'm fine. Please, just answer my question"
"It is May 7th 2017" David replies easily and Emma lets out a sob of relief.
"I didn't fuck up" she says out loud.
"What is going on Emma?" David then asks, but Emma needs to go. Go find Regina.
"I'll explain everything later. I need to go" she says, whilst turning around, but then stops, upon seeing her baby girl. Sitting upon the floor, playing with a doll.
"Oh baby girl" she cries out, stepping forward, then knelling down and picking the girl up.
She gives her a kiss on the forehead.
"I've missed you so much" she whispers, "Don't worry, I'm going to fix everything" she then adds, whilst Hope babbles.
She then puts Hope back down, before turning back and seeing three very confused people.
"Everything's going to be fine. I promise" she tells them. "I've just got to go see Regina, about something"
"Your always, running off to see her" Killian then huffs, whilst throwing up his hands, and Emma clenches her hands together. Trying to reign in her control.
"I'll be back" she tells her parents seriously, before, poofing herself to Regina's mansion.
*
Moments later, Emma steadies herself for a moment, by putting her hands upon the gate and looking up at the big white house.
Home, she thinks to herself. Whilst noticing that the lights are on, indicating that Regina is inside.
Her breath catches, at the thought. Regina is here. Alive and Well.
She wants to run, run through the gate, up to the door, bang on it, call out Regina's name over and over, until the woman opens the door and she falls into her arms. But she hesitates.
This Regina is not her wife. Yet.
This Regina doesn't know what they will be. What will happen.
Her hands tighten on the gate.
She needs to get her thoughts straight. Maybe a better plan, as her main focus had been on getting here. Not what would happen after that.
Damn Swan, your an idiot. She huffs out loud.
She then, spends the next few minutes thinking. Thinking of the best way to do this.
Before, opening the gate and walking up to the front door.
She had done this walk a thousand times, yet this one felt the heaviest.
Her hands shaking. She had a lump in her throat. A heavy feeling in her stomach.
I'm going to see Regina, her mind then screams, and that makes her feel a little breathless.
She then, stops at the front door and puts a hand upon it. Flat.
She closes her eyes, for a moment. Steadies herself.
I've got this, she tells herself, as she pulls her hand back, and knocks upon the white door.
Seconds pass, heals upon the inside floor get closer, and Emma holds her breath.
It feels like forever, but the door finally swings open, and Regina is there. In a burgundy blouse and black skirt.
"Emma?" the older woman says, in a surprised voice. "I wasn't expecting you" she adds, whilst bringing her hand up to put some of her hair behind her ear.
Emma just stares at her in awe.
"Emma?" Regina asks again, concern now appearing upon her face, and she looks around, behind Emma to see if anyone is with her.
"I..." Emma begins to speak, but finds that she can't. She's overwhelmed.
"Come..Come inside, dear" Regina then says softly, and Emma steps forward on instinct.
*
Once inside, they face each other, and Regina finally notices, that something is different about Emma.
"Have you dyed your hair?" she then asks, and Emma can't take it anymore.
She has to hold Regina in her arms. To make sure, that she is real right now, and she steps forward, taking the woman in her arms and hugs her tightly, whilst closing her eyes and smelling the familiar apple shampoo in Regina hair.
Regina stiffens instantly in surprise, but then relaxes into the embrace.
"Your starting to worry me now" the older woman then says, in concern, because Emma rarely hugs her.
"Its okay. Everything's going to be okay" Emma mutters back, and Regina wonders what that means.
Emma then steps back. Whilst reminding herself, that this is not her Regina. They are not together yet.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to overstep" she says with a grimace. "I just...A lot has happened, and I need you to listen me, when I explain"
"I always listen dear. You on the other hand..." Regina teases, trying to lighten the mood, but then stops, when she see's the pained look ,upon the other woman's face.
"I think, maybe we should go sit down, hmm? looks like you need a strong drink" Regina then suggests, and Emma nods.
Minutes later, Emma is sitting in Regina's living room, with a glass of cider in her hand. While Regina, is standing by the window, deep in thought.
Emma had barely said two words since they came into the room, and it was worrying her. But she didn't want to push.
"Have you heard of the helix paradox?" Emma then says calmly, and Regina turns to her.
"The helix paradox?" she replies.
"Yeah"
Regina blinks, her head tilts to the side slightly.
"Where did you hear about that?" she then asks.
"So, your aware of what it is?" Emma replies, whilst ignoring Regina's question.
"Yes, Gold, was obsessed with finding the stone at one point in time, but he never found it"
"He wouldn't of been able to use it anyway" Emma then says, without thinking.
"What do you mean?" Regina asks.
"It can only be used, by the product of true love"
Regina then blinks in surprise. How would Emma know that. She didn't even know that, and she's more experienced with magic than Emma is.
"How do you know that?" she then asks Emma, who takes a deep breath.
"Well...because.." she reaches into her jacket pocket, and pulls out a dark gem like stone, with unique writing on "Of this" she adds and Regina gasps.
"That's not...it can't be" Regina trails off, whilst staring at the stone in shock.
"Yep, Fifteen years from now, I find it, and bring myself back here, to 2017" Emma explains flatly.
Regina just stares in disbelief for a long moment, before stepping forward, and she sits herself next to Emma. She knows Emma wouldn't lie to her. Not about something like this, and she finds herself staring at the woman, who is looking back at her with sad, watery eyes.
"Why?" she then asks, in a whisper
"To save you...to save our family.. and be the saviour, that I never wanted to be, one last time"
