Chapter Text

After around an hour stuck in the car, Chuuya and Dazai finally make it to their destination. They climb out of the backseat of the black limousine only to be blinded by the bright sun pouring from above and the flashy colors surrounding them.

Chuuya knew this was all a facade. This world was not colorful, it was black and white. It felt dystopian being in an environment that presents itself as colorful and lively yet so neutral underneath.

The campus was massive, it looked almost like a college instead of a high school. It stretched on for miles and miles. The entrance was certainly flashy as well. Two tall glass buildings connected together to form the shape of an H.

“So it’s to prepare kids for fighting villains…?” Chuuya asked Dazai. He knew the answer, just the concept of this school is so absurd to him.

“Yep!!”

“So basically building child soldiers?…”

“Yep!!”

“The hell…” Chuuya muttered under his breath.

A lady standing by the gate waved them over and Dazai took Chuuya’s hand and ran over to her. Once Dazai dragged Chuuya to the gate with the lady in front of it, Chuuya kicked his shin. Dazai winced dramatically while the lady looked amused with their relationship.

“Are you two… Dazai Osamu and Nakahara Chuuya?” She looked at her clipboard, reading out their names.

“Yes. I apologize for my doggy, he's a little rabid.” Dazai said to the lady.

“I’m not a fucking dog!” Chuuya barked.

“Ahem…” She glared at them and continued, “I am an intern at UA. I will be escorting you to principal Nezu where you’ll get your class and dorm rooms.”

She pressed what seemed like an Identification card to the sensor in front of the gate. The gate opened up as she stepped through, expecting them to follow. Chuuya enters behind Dazai as the gate closes on its own behind them.

As they maneuvered through the halls of the school, Chuuya was made hyper aware of the way Musutafu was (quite literally) living in the future. There were all sorts of gadgets, like expensive TVs, phones without buttons, self closing doors, etc. Most if not everyone in Yokohama still used flip phones. On rare occasions, you’d see someone with a buttonless phone but most people believed they were wastes of money and unconventional.

He also became hyper aware of the fact that these “quirks” sometimes would change your whole appearance. “Abilities don’t alter your DNA like quirks do.” Dazai had told him beforehand. “This results in mutations in the human body used to accommodate their quirk.” It was all foreign to him.

Chuuya thought that would be the weirdest thing about this world but he could’ve never expected what he saw next. A rat sat in the principal’s office, looking at them expectantly.

“Welcome Nakahara and Dazai.” The rat smiled at them. His gold nameplate on his desk read “Principal Nezu”.

Chuuya muttered under his breath, “Am I high…?”

Luckily the principal didn’t hear his words, but he did see the confusion on their faces, “I am a rat, my quirk is intelligence!” He explained. “You can sit down in those chairs there” He pointed across his desk.

Chuuya disliked this guy already. He reminded him of Dazai, which speaks for itself. Nezu carried this calculating gaze that made him wanna punch him, just like Dazai. Who knew Dazai could be so similar to a rat? (iykyk)

Dazai felt… amused by the appearance of their principal. He carried a white coat with a scar over his right eye and a suit which was probably tailored to fit his teeny body.

A tired looking man with black hair and dark eyebags stood next to him. He was wearing all black and a thick grey scarf around his neck. He wasn't as flashy and the other heroes Dazai researched about. Dazai knew his name since he mesmerized every hero staff member's name, face, and quirk. Shoto Aizawa. His quirk was nullifying other quirks by sight. Dazai was certainly fascinated by him. He wondered if his quirk would work on Chuuya’s ability. He predicted it wouldn't. If it did, it wouldn't work on corruption.

“Hello! My name is Principal Nezu!” He started. “Welcome to UA Nakahara and Dazai!”

“Just Chuuya is fine” Chibi corrected.

“Alright then, Chuuya.” He gave a polite smile. “It seems your guardian, Mori Ougai, has signed you two up to be body guards for Class 1-A. This right here is Aizawa, he is your new homeroom teacher.” He pointed to the tired man standing behind him. “We would like to keep this a secret so do not tell any of your peers about your purpose here at UA.”

“Yes sir!” Dazai said dramatically with his hand raised to form a salute. Chuuya kicked his shin under the table making him wince.

“Shut the hell up jackass.” The doggy barked once again.

“I’m so sorry for my rabid doggy’s language!!” Dazai apologized while Chuuya's ears turned pink.

“I’m not your dog!!”

—

Aizawa sighed as he saw the two teen boys go back and forth. He dreaded having these two in his already chaotic classroom. He deserves a raise…

“Well…” Nezu cleared his throat, silencing the two’s bicker. “Aizawa here will be directing you two to your new dorms.”

“Come on…” Aizawa said, walking out the door.

The two boys followed after Aizawa to a big building with “1-A Alliance” plastered on the front. Inside it had bedrooms belonging to students in 1-A.

Aizawa led them to two empty rooms at the end of a hallway up stairs.

“These are your new rooms.” Aizawa explained unenthusiasticly, “Decorate them as you like. I don't care.”

—

Later that evening Dazai snuck into Chuuya’s room with a laptop. Dazai plopped onto Chuuya’s bed uninvited.

“What the fuck are you doing?” Chuuya hissed.

“We need to memorize our classmates' names and quirks! Don't tell me Chibi forgot about his mafia duties?” Dazai teased.

“Shut the hell up.”

Chuuya sat beside him on the bed looking at the laptop Dazai was on.

“Whose laptop is this?” Chuuya asked.

“Dunno,” Dazai replied. Of course he would say that.

In the morning, Chuuya woke up at around 6am. He had to be at school at around 8 so he had plenty of time to get ready. He showered and got dressed in the uniforms the school provided them with. After he finished getting ready, he headed into that Makerel's room knowing that he couldn't do anything for himself.

Dazai was already up, sitting on his bed when Chuuya spoke, "At least go brush your teeth or something, you stink.”

“Aww is Chibi worried about me?~” Dazai taunted.

“Brush your fucking teeth”

“Fineee,” Dazai whined.

After Dazai brushed his stained yellow teeth, he plopped back on his bed next to Chibi.

“Stop staring at me like that, it's weird.”

“Can I brush your hair?”

“... what?”

The words came out of Dazai’s mouth before he could stop them. What is wrong with him? Dazai could feel his cheeks starting to heat up. God did he really just say that? Chuuya would neve-

“Sure… I guess.” Chuuya replied reluctantly. “Just don’t fuck it up.”

Dazai eagerly grabs Chuuya’s brush from his hand and positions himself so he's behind the Chibi.

“Hmm… What if Chibi has lice…” Dazai teased.

“I don't have fucking lice...” The chibi rolls his eyes.

Dazai lifts his hand and runs the bristles of the brush through Chuuya’s curly ginger locs. Dazai has the overwhelming urge to ruffle his hair. Last time he did that, he ended up with a punch to his face. He likes to think he's in an abusive relationship, painting himself as the victim.

Dazai’s eyes always reflected like a void, devoid of light or emotion. It was almost inhuman. At least UA's world had black and white. Dazai’s world didn't even have color. Yet when he sees Chuuya so expressive, so colorful, so human, he feels complete. It was a feeling no other could bring to him.

Dazai pretended Chuuya’s hair was more knotted than reality so he could touch it for longer.

“Are you done yet? We gotta get to our homeroom in around 20 minutes.” Chuuya asked, annoyed.

“I know.”

“You memorized the schedule didn't you?”

“Yep!”

“Just hurry up so we can leave…” Chuuya muttered.

Notes:

Heads up for future chapters, these will probably be very short. like 1000-2000 words per chapter. But I will also be posting chapters really often so hopefully that makes up for it!! ദ്ദി◝ ⩊ ◜.ᐟ

Notes:

I am so excited to continue this series! :D
I'm still kinda new to ao3 so if you have any tips for me just comment bc I dont know if I'm doing this right.
