Chapter Text
The drive home was silent for the most part. His phone lay forgotten in the passenger seat. It didn't buzz a bit although there was a lot of commotion inside it. Diesel always kept his phone on silent mode when he was with Day. He started doing this when one day, his phone wouldn't stop ringing when they were watching a movie. And in the end it was just his dad checking in. Diesel got mad but he couldn't say anything to his father. So, instead of picking up his phone any time someone calls, he just put his phone in silent so he could pick it up once he was not with Day.
Of course he doesn't tell Day he does this. If Day were to find out than Day would get mad at him and tell him not to do this. What would Day know about how Diesel thought of the time he spend with Day and the only thing to look forward to in him life.
Diesel reached home at around 9 am. He parked his car and wiped that stupid smile off his face finally. He got out his car unwillingly after taking his phone and not glancing at it once. Diesel dragged himself to the door and opened it slowly as if he didn't want to go in.
Correction: he didn't.
Diesel was thinking of going to his room quietly but to his surprise his father was waiting for him. In the living room. On the sofa.
Diesel swallowed a stone in his throat. His heart aching from how fast and hard it was beating.
"Come here."
Diesel moved automatically. His hands started to shake. From the adrenaline probably. Or maybe he was scared. Maybe this isn't anything at all. Maybe he was just.. overthinking.
Diesel inhaled sharply. Pushing all the 'maybe' thoughts away.
He stood in front of his father. His father didn't look at him. He simply just took a remote and opened the TV.
Diesel looked at the TV. There was pretty news reporter in the TV shifting through papers while she said something Diesel didn't catch.
"And now for political news."
The lady stopped shifting papers and looked straight through the TV. It felt like the lady was looking straight through Diesel's black soul.
"Last night we got a report of Diesel Danais Danaipact, the son of minister Danaipact, was spotted in a club fighting a rapper. He is not of legal age to attend a club yet. It was also reported that the same night he was caught leaving the girl's toilet and it was discovered there was an abused lady in the toilet passed out. Minister Danaipact had made a official statement through the social media platform 'X'. The statement reads: 'I, minister Danaipach, have been aware of the rumors circulating around my son. I confirm that these are just rumors. My son Diesel Danais has been with me since last night. He has not gone anywhere.' Minister Danaipach has announced that he will have a media interview with his son today."
Diesel's father muted the TV. Diesel didn't have any guts or the strength to look at him.
"What is this? What did you do last night?"
Diesel didn't say anything. He just looked down to the floor. Getting ready for the sting on his cheek.
But it never came.
"Do have any idea what I've doing to cover this up? Your my son but your ruining MY reputation. Did think of any of this before you went and did that last night. Why didn't you come home? Where were you last night?"
Diesel didn't speak. He couldn't. It was like someone was choking the breath out of him. He was so mad at Lukjhan yesterday, he had hooked up with a stranger who gave him just one look that said 'follow me'. Diesel had released his pend up frustration with the lady when she guided his hand to her neck and asked him to choke her.
Just how Diesel liked it.
But yesterday was too much. He was so mad he had accidentally choked the poor lady into unconsciousness. Everything the reporter lady had said was true.
And his dad also knew it was true.
"Go get changed. The media will be here any second."
Diesel did as he was told. Not willingly but he still did it. It was as if he was a mind controlled freak. Like a remote control robot.
It didn't take Diesel long to put on the black suit that was already ready for him to wear. When he was about to change he finally opened his phone. there were a lot of messages and DMs and missed calls from his father and Dream. all of his friends were freaking out.
Dream:
"I heard about the media interview."
"I know what you dad is thinking. Don't lie ok. Tell them the truth."
"You haven't been reachable since last night! Where are you!!"
"You better be reading this before you go do that stupid interview."
Diesel sighed at the screen before turning off silent mode on his phone and putting on his suit. His phone would often get notifications which Diesel ignored.
The whole house felt stuffy to him. No one talked. Diesel didn't dare breath too loudly either. He slowly went down stairs after he got dressed in his black suit and tie. He sat in the bench that was under the family photo of Diesel's family. Where he stood behind his dad. Face serious. His sister next to him. Slightly smiling. He barely talked to his sister. They barely got involved with each other's life. But more distant than his sister, was his mother. A world class designer. The founder and CEO of the well-known and well-loved brand DEVI. But not so much of a good mother. Diesel knew nothing about his mother. They barely sat in the same room.
Diesel sat on the bench his hands shaking. Should he call someone? Should he do something? What was he gonna do? What was he supposed to say to the media? Was he gonna lie? Was he gonna say the truth? What would even happen if he said the truth? Go to jail maybe. But technically he didn't abuse the girl.. right? The girl asked him too...
Diesel's train of thoughts was wiped clean when a hand pressed on his shoulder. He immediately recognized it as his dad's hand. Diesel tensed. He did everything he could to fight the tears that was forming in his eyes.
Diesel's father pressed his hands harder on his shoulder and pulled him up. Diesel awkwardly stood up. Still tense he faced his father. Still trying his best not to cry.
"Don't you have something to say to me?"
Diesel's throat narrowed more than it already had.
"I'm sorry."
Diesel's father looked like he was about to say something. But he didn't. His hands went from Diesel's shoulders to his tie. Diesel's dad tightened his tie.
"Don't cry. The media is waiting. Come quick."
With that Diesel's dad left him. Standing there. His heart beating faster and faster. His mind going everywhere but nowhere at the same time. A warm tear left his eyes which he slapped away. He was about to leave when his phone ringed.
Dream.
He declined the call.
He started walking again but he stopped just when his phone rang again.
It was Dream.
This time with a heavy heart, a stone in his throat and with warm tears in his eyes, he answered.
His end of the line was quiet but Dream spoke almost immediately.
"Diesel, I saw everything. Are you going to lie?"
...
"You said you hated you dad. Your not going to do the same thing as you dad right? You wont act like your dad right?"
...
"Can you just tell them the truth? That's all I'm asking. There are so many other ways to choose from!"
...
"Just tell them the truth okay? Diesel?"
...
"Diesel?"
...
"Diesel say something!"
"Khun Diesel, your father will like to see you outside right now."
"Diesel! Why would you lie! You cant fucking stand still and do nothing! He's your fucking dad go talk to him! This is you life, choose for yourself!"
"I CAN'T FUCKING CHOOSE WHAT I DO IN MY LIFE!"
Diesel was not expecting to say that. But he couldn't control his own words. The assistant in the corner of the room was acting like he didn't hear Diesel. Though he was doing a horrible job. The line on the other end was quiet. Not what Diesel was expecting and hoping for. It made his ears ring even more. His head spin worse. The tears in his eyes grow warmer.
"Listen to me." Diesel said as he turned away from the assistant. His voice was firm and angry.
"Don't mess with my life, EVER. And stop preaching me already. You should take care of YOUR dad's business. STOP MINDING MY BUSINESS!"
He screamed the last part before he ended the call. Dream didn't give up. She called again. But Diesel silenced the call. Diesel finally walked towards the assistant who gave him his sunglasses. Diesel wore it. Hoping to hide his eyes that was so obvious about his tears.

Day had a good morning but it was ruined by the thought of going to school. Ozone sat on the the floor in front of the TV skipping through channels. Day was feeling really happy. Did the happiness have something to do with Diesel sleeping on top of him this morning? Perhaps but no one needs to know that.
Day walked out his room smiling. His soft hair covering his forehead. He put his bag on the dinning table and started putting his books in his bag still smiling like an idiot. For someone who didn't know who he liked, he was smiling a bit too much.
"P'Ozone, I put the lunch in the fridge, if I'm late heat it up and eat it okay? Don't cause too much trouble. I'll be back as soon as school is over. Oh and-"
"Day, Day look! Diesel is on TV!"
Day immediately stopped doing whatever he was doing and walked towards the TV.
Diesel's father was there. Standing. His hair neat. The black suit and tie making him look serious. Diesel stood next to him. Stunningly handsome. The suit and tie suited him more than anyone. His sunglasses hid his eyes. Day narrowed his eyes to look at Diesel more carefully.
"Has he been crying..?"
"Can you answer where you were at the time of the incident?"
One of the reporters asked Diesel's father.
"I was working all night until the next morning." Diesel's father smiled.
"Can you comment on the incident, is it true?"
"I can confirm you myself. All the rumors about last night isn't true." Diesel's father's smile didn't go anywhere. It stayed. Day didn't like it one bit. But Day's eyes were on Diesel. Who wasn't smiling at all. The glasses he wore hid where he was looking at.
Slowly the reporters mics moved towards Diesel, "Where were you at the time of the incident?"
Diesel stayed quiet for just a second. Diesel gave a short look at his dad before replying.
"I was at home. Helping my dad out."
Diesel looked through the camera.
Day's smile had faded. But he felt as if he wouldn't smile today anymore. He felt disappointed. Was he surprised? Well, no. Day didn't even think it was Diesel's fault. Diesel didn't have a choice in his life and Day was close enough with Diesel to know that.
Somewhere in the same time Dream was looking at the TV. With the same disappointment. The guy who had told her he hated his dad and would not be like him was lying on national TV along side his father.

It was a quiet evening for Day. Day was contemplating on starting to make dinner. Which he, after a while, decided he should start right now. The sun had not set yet. Day stared at the rice for a while. Should he make extra? Just in case you know.. He didn't even want to think. The disappointment pained his heart. Although he knew it was no one's fault except Diesel's father.
Day was about to put back the rice after deciding not to make extra when the door opening distracted him. He instinctively looked back. And there he stood. Eyes swollen. Wearing a black hooded zip-up jacket and matching black joggers. He looked cute. But Day's disappointment was more strong.
Day looked back to what he was cooking while Diesel walked towards the kitchen. Day took out the uncooked rice again, he had to make extra today. Again.
Diesel walked towards the dinning table and leaned on the table looking at Day.
"Hey."
Day looked back, "Hello." That's all he said before he started cooking again.
Ozone was on the floor watching TV. Diesel eyed him before walking towards him and sitting on the sofa. Ozone looked back and smiled at Diesel. Diesel gave a weak smile back.
"Day and Ozone saw Diesel on TV this morning."
Diesel didn't say anything. His smile faded and his heart ached. Diesel didn't realize Day was acting weird. But now he did. Day was probably as mad as Dream was with him. Can he even blame any of them? It wasn't their fault. It was his own fault. Maybe he shouldn't have lied. Maybe he should have told them it was true. Maybe that would have made Day happy. But if he had done so, Diesel would be disowned by his own father probably. He'd have no where to go. His life would be more fucked than it already was. Nothing he did was good. Not one thing he did has ever turned out to be good.
"Diesel!"
"Huh? What?"
"What are you thinking about? I called you three times." Day started walking towards the sofa that Diesel was sitting on. Diesel was looking back at him.
"Oh. Uh.. Nothing. Why were you calling me?"
"I was asking if there was anything you wanted to eat."
Diesel sighed internally. For a hot second he thought Day would ask him to go back home.
"Anything you make it fine."
✦✦✦✦
The dinner was awkwardly quiet. Diesel for the first time felt cold sitting in the wooden table. But he had no one to blame except himself for this. The food tasted great. Rice, braised pork and spinach. Usually Diesel was very picky about spinach but today he didn't have the head to think about what he was eating. The quietness around him was already deafening and already hurting his heart.
The dinner didn't take them long to finish. Ozone left the second he finished dinner. Day started on the dishes while Diesel was left on the dinning table overthinking and fidgeting with his own hands. He bit his lips occasionally when he felt like the warmth in his eyes were back. Day didn't say anything. Didn't look back to Diesel. Which made this even worse than it already was. Diesel hadn't contacted Dream after the call this morning. He didn't want the same to happen with him and Day. Day was the only one he leaned on. Not that he wanted to. It just happened that way.
Meanwhile Day was washing the dishes like that's all he could do. He didn't want to think. He knew Diesel was overthinking yet he didn't say anything to calm him down. What was he waiting for? Don't ask. Day didn't know either. All he knew was he wasn't mad at Diesel and whatever Diesel was overthinking about wasn't going to happen. But Day didn't want to say that to Diesel yet. The quietness was already awkward enough.
Day put the last bowl he washed besides the sink and took out a glass from the cabinet. He filled it with soy milk that was left in the fridge. He slowly walked towards Diesel who was sitting in the dinning table looking all blue and slid the glass towards him.
"Want to move to the couch?"
Diesel just nodded. Day look the glass once more and sat on the couch grabbing the remote to the TV. Diesel awkwardly sat next to him. Day handed him the glass of milk with a nod that asked Diesel to finish the whole glass.
For the few minutes that Diesel was drinking, they sat in awkward silence. The only sound being the sound from the TV which none of the two were actually paying attention to.
When Diesel finally finished his drink, he put the glass down on the floor.
"You saw it right?"
Day looked at diesel. Half confused half sure of what he was asking about. Yet he still asked.
"Saw what?"
"The interview. This morning."
Day looked away, "Yeah. Me and p'Ozone watched it."
"Are you mad...?"
Day looked back at Diesel. Diesel's eyes were glistening with tears. His eyes still swollen probably from all the crying that happened today. Diesel was fidgeting with his hands. They were shaking.
"No. No I'm not."
"Your lying." Diesel looked away, "Your mad."
Day sighed. He shifted closer to Diesel. "Diesel, I just told you. I'm not mad. Why would I be mad at you?"
"Because I lied."
"You shouldn't have done that, yes. But did you even have a choice?"
Diesel looked down. He didn't want to look at day anymore. The warm feeling in his eyes were returning.
fuck.
Diesel bit his lips and slowly shook his head.
"Diesel, I don't know what your life is like. But from what you've told me, I don't think I have a right to be mad at you. Your going through a lot."
Diesel didn't say anything. He didn't know what to say. All he knew was the warm tear was starting to fall down again.
Day stood up and crouched in front of Diesel and took his hand holding it as if he was warming them up.
"Dont be too harsh on yourself. The world is already doing that."
Day reached for his cheeks and wiped off the tear that was falling. "I'm not mad at you. Okay?"
Diesel nodded.
He felt like Day was babying him and this was a first for Diesel. No one ever took care of him like this. Even with little things Day made it a first for Diesel. Drinking milk at night like this made Diesel feel like he was a baby. But Diesel didn't complain. He liked it when Day treated him like this. It was like a change of atmosphere for him. He felt like he could forget his father's expectations. His father's reputation.
Day cupped Diesel's face and kept wiping the tears away as they poured in his thumb. He didn't know how Diesel felt. All he wanted was for him to have a place where he could forget every bad thing about his life.
Both of them stayed like that for a while. Diesel crying without realizing it and Day wiping the sadness away with him thumb. Both of them looked into each other's eyes as if they were trying to find something.
Without realizing both of them leaned closer...
Maybe at some point they did realize. Day stole a glace at Diesel's lips. And Diesel licked him lips slightly.
Didn't take very long for their lips to meet. Soft against each other's touch. Day's hands travelled to Diesel's neck as he pulled him closer. Diesel's hands, still slightly shaking, reached from Day's hair. He didn't pull. He didn't have the strength to pull. All Diesel could do was melt into the kiss as Day licked Diesel's lower lip like he was knocking on a door. Diesel slightly parted his lips. It didn't take Day long to slip his tongue in. The taste of the soy milk Diesel had just drank was still there.
Day slowly stood up. Stubbornly not letting go of Diesel. Diesel just let Day do what he wanted. Day slowly pushed Diesel to lay on the couch. Diesel wrapped his hands around Day's neck. Day was on top of Diesel. Diesel's thigh locking Day's waist. The kissing didn't stop for a while until they pulled away for a breath. Diesel smiled at Day. Only Day could make him smile like this in such a shitty day. He wasn't lying when he said day made all the bad things in his life be forgotten for a while.
Day looked into Diesel's eyes. The same eyes that were crying so bad. Day lowered himself to sleep on top of Diesel.
"Hey~" Diesel said , "You heavy."
Day didnt move. "You probably cried a lot."
Diesel didn't say anything. They stayed in that position for a hot minute before Day finally stood up.
"Sleep on my bed tonight. This couch is too small."
Diesel smiled once more. A soft smile for how caring Day was.
"Lead the way."
