Chapter Text
It took years to get used to this, being a deity of death. I hate everyone who comes through here, except one. She stays by my side every day and night, and helps with my work, but this isn't about her at the moment. Vina visits me every now and then, and has brung a few newer deities with. They stay with her, allowed to be in their true forms unlike me and her were.
Emis and Mika are their names. Emis takes care of agriculture while Mika takes care of the animals. They're still very young and training in different ways. Emis trains his magic with Vina and Mika trains with me, mostly because Vina said she needed someone more "rough around the edges."
"RIRREN, RIRREN! WE NEED YOUR HELP!" Mika bolts in here in her true form, a nine tailed wolf, she looks terrified... "IT'S VINA, SHE'S ATTACKING US AND LOOKS ALL... DIFFERENT!" She cries out. I stand up and rush over to her, transforming to my true form as I do, "Show me."
I follow Mika as we reach their house, everything scratched up, including Emis whose bleeding and struggling to hold Vina back... Vina, oh mother... Her body is deformed, skin tight against her bones, sharp claws, and her horns inside her eye sockets.
Shaking myself out of it I lunge at her, getting her away from Emis, "GET OUT OF HERE, BOTH OF YOU!" I yell, getting scratched by Vina. I bite her hand, tossing and turning with her. She's always been the stronger of the two of us, but I *need* to keep those kids safe.
We keep fighting. *It's like she doesn't run out of energy...* I huff and pant, pouncing and biting down on her neck. She shrieks, giving me chills. I drag her to a cave and use my remaining energy to seal it so she can't leave. She twitches on the floor for a bit before getting up and rushing at the seal with a shriek, I brace myself before hearing a thud.
"Heh..." I smile and pant before going back to the underworld with a limp. I get down there and fall, my vision going blurry as I pass out. When I awake again Emis is sitting next to my bed, curled up with a bandage on his arm while Mika is curled under my arm.
"Morning, kid..." I sigh and sit up, trying not to disturb Mika, "How's the arm?" I question. "Fine..." He mumbles, not looking at me. I stand up and hug him, he almost immediately bursts into tears.
"Why did she do that? How could she leave us like that?" He cries out questions. I rub his back, "I don't know, Emis, I wish I could tell you..." I whimper out.
