Chapter Text
The room was silent, everyone that was seated around the large table were on edge.
The atmosphere was rather dreadful as of the incident that occured before hand.
"So sir, your name was... apologies I've forgotten your name."
All Might spoke up, his voice clear and with authority.
"Kishibe."
He uttered his name and with nothing else.
"Yes, thank you. Sir Kishibe, we would like to ask you, what is your affilation with our student, Denji Hayakawa?"
All Might crossed his large arms and leaned back on his sturdy chair.
"I'm his mentor and in doing so he is part of Public Safety, like it or not."
Kishibe answered, a finger twitched, he could use a drink. 'Why did that bitch Makima not do this instead?'
"But why is a young man such as Denji in your line of work? Or at the very least involved with Public Safety?"
The principal asked as he sat on the shoulder of the number 1.
"To be fair, not sure I can say. I didn't hire the kid nor do I intend in finding out why he was."
He shrugged his shoulders, all he knew was that Makima wanted him for some grand plan that he hasn't figured out.
"And why would that be Sir Kishibe?"
Nezu put a paw on his chin after after asking him.
"I had this partner back then, she had this motto that she liked..."
Deciding to get rid of the formalities he reached his flask and took a swig of the whisky. Whipping his lips with his coat sleeve right after, putting the flask away.
"Ignorance is bliss."
"Time and time again, we are never able to talk to that damn student!"
Endeavor rubbed his temples in his office where Burnin' stood in front of him.
"Well, the very least we saved the kids, sir."
Burnin' sighed, looking down with a shred of disappointment.
"Like hell we did, the main victim of this--the boy they are after was killed in action. We didn't save them nor did we capture the villains that planned this. Just those two yakuza members that are yet to confess anything."
Endeavor turned to look at her, exhaling as deep as he could.
"Were the other children at least interviewed? Anything that would lead to anything?"
The man asked her, looking through the various files that involved the boy so far.
"Luckily they were, not much but this Midoriya boy did mention how Hayakawa and the yazuka in the trench coat had similar quirks."
Burnin' mentioned to the Number 2.
"But that's not useful... anything else?"
"Some of our heroes did mention how the yakuza were looking for a girl... but it seems only the young Hayakawa knows what they mean."
"A girl... wait you mentioned before of a small child before in the ramen shop incident... could this child truly be what the yakuza is trying to obtain?"
He went back to that file, yes that girl was there. The one with the small horn on the side of her head. But what of her?
"Burnin' whatever this girl is to the yakuza they'll eventually brute force their way to get her... and soon."
"If they do... they'll likely target the Public Safety Building without a doubt!"
The realization resonated deep within the two as they realized the possible damage that may occur.
"Burnin'... send as many of my agency's heroes as possible to the Public Safety building, and tell them not to raise alarms until a threat is certain."
She gave him a firm nod as she begun walking off.
"And alert Night Eye, he wanted the yakuza first after all."
Endeavor's voice boomed through his office before Burnin' closed the doors shut.
He looked through the glass, his hands behind him.
"...I will be number one."
"Boss... I uh don't want to question your methods but..." He was at a loss at what to say.
"This is the only way... every fool we hired or teamed with has failed us. Now... I'll make sure to get back what I fucking need to end this era of ill individuals."
Overhaul turned his hands into fists before standing from his chair.
"We'll raid Public Safety."
'Sports Festival?'
Denji raised an eyebrow as he listened half heartedly to the mummied teacher.
"The Sports Festival is important, I'm sure you all know that."
"But isn't it a bad idea to hold it after all what... happened in the USJ?"
It didn't take a genius to understand who Midoriya was referring to.
"Good point Midoriya. However the administration is still holding the festival to ensure that UA is strong. That no run of the mill villains are able to break our morale."
The answer from the teacher made everyone agree. But still...
"But sir! One... one of us were killed. Shouldn't there be a better reason than just that?"
Midoriya stated, a small drop of sweat rolling down his cheek. The memory of witnessing and the feeling of wet blood covering him too hard to forget.
"Kid... I know. I know that should've never of happened. I failed as a teacher and for that I am forever punished by knowing that."
Aizawa sighed under his bandages.
"But... he is alive. A miracle that he is, but alive. We have to learn from our mistakes and not let it happen again."
The class was silent.
"...Man what gives class is ending guys lets cheer!"
Denji stands up with his bag at hand and walked through the door, a small crowd forming at the door from other students.
"Move it, I wanna go home."
The blonde shoved the students to the side and scurried.
"Dense kid."
As Denji walked home he silently remembered how the class went deadly silent again. He paid attention enough that he knew they were talking about him.
But why? He isn't special, he isn't wicked buff or handsome, or even rich. And yet... they still show some weird affection.
"Pochita..."
Denji held his chest as he walked.
"Is this what livin' a normal life is?"
No answer.
"Yeah, I dunno' either."
He scratched his nose, marching forward.
Around him, ad boards showed the upcoming festival. Anybody that glanced at it knew how riveting the event was.
Anybody but Denji anyway.
"Mhm... maybe I'll get a cute chick if I do good enough at the festival."
Denji smirked, this time his march had a bit of pride now.
As the boy marched he took a turn to an alleyway.
"First I gotta give some blood."
"WELCOME TO THE U.A SPORTS FESTIVALLL!"
The TV boomed with the announcement, maybe even spiking the TV stereo.
Cheers from all around the stadium burst through. Smiles on every guests face as they tuned in, many other's watching the event through their TVs.
"Oh, oh! I think I saw big bro!"
Eri tugged at a sleeve.
"Hell yeah Denji! Go give them hell!" Himiko cheered, holding the small girl in her lap.
"Hey thanks again for letting me hang and watch, Aki!"
The man was in the kitchen, washing some plates.
"Yeah no problem, just tell me if you feel hungry I can cook something up."
"Alright, thanks!"
Power said nothing, giving the other vampire in the room a stink eye.
"Fuck... that's a shit ton of people." Denji looked around, every stand and seat was filled to the brim with eager families and heroes who wanted to see what the next generation of heroes are capable of.
"Welcome everyone to this year's U.A Sports Festival! I myself am quite excited for what these new first years can do!"
Midnight spoke into the mic, swaying her hips. Her breasts swaying too.
"Man, hero costumes rock!"
A small perv spoke before being shushed by force.
"Speaking of first years! May the first year representative stand on stage for their speech?"
Bakugo slowly walked up the stage and stood next to the R Rated hero, the mic in front of him.
He looked at everybody, sizing them up before speaking.
"I'll win."
Everybody stood silent astonished as he walked off. Everybody booed, cursing him.
"Who is he?"
"Who the hell does he think he is?"
"Fuck him!"
Students from other classes spurred on with the discourse.
"Of course he singeled out our class out..."
Midoriya whined with his head held low.
He wasn't immediately near anybody he knew, but did see Denji. Who kicked the small pebbles on the floor.
"Not black and white." Midoriya repeated those words in his head. It was what the yakuza told him before slicing the boy in his view in half.
"All Might... I should ask him."
"For the first challenge of the Festival...!"
Midnight paused as the wheel on the giant screen slowed to a crawl.
"An obstacle course!"
Everybody went into the tunnel, readying themselves as the awaited the count down.
"Lets fuckin' do this!"
Denji slapped his face as he put a foot forward waiting.
'Everybody's hyping this up, so I guess I'd oughta do my best.'
He thought, it was crowded, several students huddled up in the tight space.
"3!"
Everybody stood still and looked at the opening metal gates
"2!"
Everybody held their breathe, adrenaline pumping into their blood.
"1... GO!"
Everybody ran, using their quirks and skills to push and shove their way through the tunnel. Todoroki was swift in taking first place, freezing the floor behind him.
"Fuck!"
Denji stared, looking at his encased legs. They were freezing.
With no other choice he decided to pull on the cord.
His arms exploded in an array of blood, his skull splitting. Swiftly he slashed at the ice and ran like his life depended on it.
"Damn it! Im so damn behind!"
Deciding not to turn back to normal, he was faster than the average. However since his heart's pumping so fast he knows he'll lose blood fast.
"Woah! So that's how Denji looks with his quirk on?"
Toga leaned in, however the smaller girl closed her eyes for a second.
"I don't like when big bro turns... he leaks a lot."
She was right, a trail of blood followed behind him as he ran.
"Say won't he like... you know croak if he bleeds too much?"
Toga turned to ths mature one, although mindful to avoid saying die for the little girl in her lap.
"He would, but if I remember the guy had this thing made so that he doesn't go down from bleeding. So it should be fine."
Rubbing his neck as he explained.
"He's terrible at the scholar role but..."
Aki sighed as he said it begrudingly.
"The brat is a bit of power house when it comes to thinking on the spot."
Toga looked him, but decided to let the remark go.
"Not these tin cans again!"
"Welcome to the Robo Inferno first years!"
Present Mic boomed his voice through, the stadium cheering.
"lower your voice, you'll make my head hurt."
Aizawa lamely spoke.
"C'mon man, a little joy and happiness won't kill you."
Present sighed.
Denji paused in place as the robots approach -- most encased in ice that proned them to lose their balance.
He knew he was capable of cutting through the smaller ones but these were the big ass ones, so shredding them.won't work.
'What if I climbed them?'
He had time, the ice won't break that quick; at least he hoped it won't break that quick.
Staring at his arms he did stabbing motions, but it felt too awakard.
Then stared at his legs, the running felt right for climbing. His bones ached in his legs, something told him to do something with them.
"YIPEE-KAY-AYE MOTHERFUCKERS!"
Chainsaws burst through his legs in bloody explosions, his pants tearing and his shoes splitting in halves.
Quickly he placed a foot and then another and one more on the giant robots. Climbing up the giant machines with ease.
"Woah woah woah! That chainsaw kid's climbing those bots Aizawa! Just when was he able to do that?!"
Present mic voiced boomed into the steroes through the stadium.
"I don't know."
Was all Aizawa cared to muster.
Denji shred through the metal skin of the robot as he made it to the top. Quickly he switched his chainsaw to an arm, jumping off and stabbing the bot. Safely dragging himself down and creating a devastating trail of exposed wires.
"Helly yeah! I'm so fuckin' smart!"
He celebrated as he passed a few more students. Though he felt light headed so he decided on turning back.
"The Pitfall! Will the first years make it to the next obstacle or fall to their doom?"
Present Mic announced, his voice dramatic.
"Of course the bottom of those pits are filled with safety procautions so don't worry about any actual danger."
Aizawa swiftly chimed in.
Denji looked down the pit, pitch black and uninviting.
"Shit, guess I gotta do this slow."
He huffed using the tight ropes that connected to small islands in the pit fall.
'Don't fall... don't fall...'
He chanted to himself, he saw the other students use their quirks, flying, jumping, etc.
"Man this shit sucks ass."
After a painstaking amount of hugging on tight ropes, Denji made it to the other side of the pit.
"AND MIDORIYA TAKES FIRST PLACE!"
Present Mic cheered through his mic, his arms in the air.
"What? Fuck people are already at the end!?"
"Todoroki and Bakugo second and third! So close to first!"
"Shit I gotta hurry!"
Several more names were annouced as Denji neared the field ahead of him.
"This'll be easy!"
"Don't worry folks, like we said eariler these aren't real mines but they sure have the kick of one!"
"Huh?"
With a small step, a massive boom of pink swiftly launched Denji forward.
Then another.
And then one more.
His head landed on a mine that triggered and lauched his body hard enough to shoot him to the finish line.
"Ouch."
Everybody watched the pink glittered boy get back up with an exhausted huff filled with pain and regret.
"Well... that's one way to finish the race, right Aizawa?"
"Yes."
"Haha! More! More explosive suffering!"
Power cackled as she watched intently, her face pressed against the screen.
"Move outta the damn way!"
Aki sprayed some water on the woman who then hissed and sat back down, arms crossed.
"Shouldn't of expected anything more from that brat."
Aki sighed, watching how they kept replaying Denji accidental win from several different angles.
"Well I don't think it'd be Denji if it was normal, you know?"
Toga kicked her legs as she turned to the man, her smile wide and sharp.
"... you know, I don't think I asked but how'd you even meet him?"
"By chance honestly... he's a little dumb but smart where it matters most."
Toga hugged the small girl like a plush.
"Him and smart don't go together. He's only slightly smart when it's a fight.
Aki's arm crosses as he scuffs.
The blonde vampire stares at him with a small glare, this time she refused to let it go.
"Then... I don't think you know him."
"He literally lives with me, of course I know him."
Again, he scuffs.
"Did you know his dad committed suicide?"
She covered the girl's ears.
"That he was in his father's debt from the yakuza?"
She added.
"He's lived a bad life, maybe you have too. But judging him because he didn't get to live an actual childhood where he was able to learn basic subjects or manners is a bit... I dunno'... inconsiderate."
She paused for a moment.
"But maybe you can show him those things like how an older brother does, but that's up to you."
Aki stared, he was quiet.
'An older brother... I'm not sure I have that in me again."
He looked away from her before exhaling out his nose and looking at her again.
"How'd... How'd you get him to tell you that? About his father?"
"He just told me."
"How?"
"Because I don't treat him like a slow dog."
