It was now November 2nd of the same year the group had graduated. It seemed like the year had flown by! Sirius and Remus were settled into the flat in Diagon together.
Lily and James were settled into Godrick’s Hollow together.
Mary was mainly doing stuff for the order, always out on missions but was mainly settled into a small flat of her own for when she was home and got to spend some time with her friends.
Today was one of Mary’s only days not out on a mission so it was perfect that Sirius had decided he wanted to celebrate early so that he could spend his actual day with his lovely boyfriend, Remus.
Everyone was gathered at Remus and Sirius’ flat after going to get a bite to eat in order to open presents and eat some cake.
Remus ended up getting Sirius a gift card to a muggle tattoo shop after he had expressed some interest in getting one in spite of his parents. Needless to say that Sirius WOULD be using that at some point.
James and Lily (although it was mainly Lily’s idea) got Sirius a new muggle vinyl of some band that Sirius had picked up lately.
Mary ended up getting Sirius a new leather jacket all the way from the United States of all places (apparently his current one looked ratty from all his Hogwarts years). Despite the slight insult, Sirius graciously accepted the gift.
After everyone was gone, Remus found himself counting down the minutes till midnight when Sirius would officially become 18. He knew even after midnight the mark wouldn’t show fully until his actual time of birth but Sirius was born at 4 am so he knew that once he woke up, he could check to see.
Remus knew that Sirius would sleep until the early afternoon so he didn’t have to worry about Sirius seeing his own mark before Remus did. Remus didn’t know what to expect when the time came. He shouldn’t have been so nervous because after all he was a werewolf so why would he have a soulmate at all?
Sirius and Remus went to bed around midnight just so that Remus could be the very first person to wish him a happy birthday even if they did have the whole day to themselves.
When Remus woke up he was nervous to say the least. He didn’t know what to expect looking down at his arm but he was surprised to see not only his moon but also a star symbol. He double checked with Sirius’ own mark seeing as it was around 8:30 in the morning and sure enough, Sirius’ own mark matched Remus’.
Remus was ecstatic to say the least. I mean who would’ve thought that HIM! Remus John Lupin, a werewolf, would have a soulmate. Much less one that he was already dating. Remus didn’t know what he would do if Sirius wasn’t his soulmate but he didn’t have to worry about that anymore so he just laid back down in bed to snuggle with his love. HIS! He could say that now with full confidence and no one could question him.
Remus did have one question however. Even despite knowing who his soulmate is, why did he still feel a sort of emptiness? He felt it when Sirius wasn’t 18 yet but he knew that was just because of the age thing. That should’ve been gone by now with Sirius finally being 18. Was he missing something? Or maybe… someone??? No, that couldn’t be it! He was probably just adjusting weirdly to knowing who is soulmate is. That had to be it… right??
At around 1 o’clock in the afternoon Sirius awoke to being peppered with kisses all over his face.
”Good morning my love” Remus mumbled from where he was practically suffocating Sirius in his love. “It’s one o’clock and I want to treat you today so you have to get up”
Remus started to get up when Sirius pulled him down onto his chest and buried his nose into his neck, something he had picked up on from his animagous transformation and had been doing since they’ve been together.
”just a little bit longer pleaseeeee” Sirius whined from where he was, deeply inhaling Remus’ calming scent that seemed so much better today. “Did you shower?” Sirius asked as he pulled himself back a bit to see Remus more clearly
”No… but I would look at your wrist MY love” Remus replied
”why would I need to look at my..” Sirius started before he realized it. THEY WERE SOULMATES!! Sirius knew it. Since they’ve been dating and even before it, he had a hunch but could never confirm it. All he could do was keep assuring Remus that he truly loved him and that Remus was worthy of having a soulmate despite being a werewolf (which in Sirius’s opinion was kinda hot af when he was close to the full since he got extra protective).
”I KNEW IT YOU BLIND BASTARD!!!” Sirius yelled at the top of his lungs and jumped up from the bed. “I told you!!! You were always doubting yourself but I knew it!!!”
Remus just rolled his eyes and said quietly “Amazing, now that we’ve had this revelation can we get ready to go? I would like to take you places and spend sometime with my soulmate please and thank you!”
”of course mon amour, but first come here please”
”What do you ne…” Remus started to reply before Sirius kissed him slowly. Remus melted into the kiss and slowly brought his hands up to Sirius’ waist.
As they pulled apart and rested their foreheads against each other Sirius said “I just wanted to say I love you and I can’t wait to see what you have planned. I also can’t wait for the future we build together because there is no way in Hell am I ever, EVER. Letting you get away from me again like you almost did a couple years ago.”
”I wouldn’t wish it for the world” Remus replied and kissed him one last time before the started to get ready.
By the time they left the flat at 3, they were both renewed with this self confidence that thy were made for each other (mainly Remus). They were holding hands and apparently the surprise that Remus had for Sirius was going into a muggle cafe that also sold vinyls.
By the time they left the cafe, it was already 5 in the evening so they still had a good hour before Remus wanted to go get something for dinner. They spent a good part of the hour walking around muggle London in a park, people watching, talking about their friends, and what work they’ll have to make up for missing these two days.
Remus wouldn’t have too much make-up work to do seeing as he works at a muggle book shop so the only real work is to put the books on the shelves. Even though Remus had been offered a position to teach DADA at Hogwarts, Remus declined due to his young age. He felt as though the students wouldn’t take him seriously. (Mainly the upper years who he had gone to school with).
Sirius on the other hand was training with James to become an Auror. He was currently being trained by the one and only Mad-Eye-Moody who was a hard Ass to say the least. When Sirius would come back from his little ‘vacation’ as Mad-Eye put it. He would have stacks upon stacks of paperwork and he knew it.
