Chapter Text

Soleum can say first hand that life never goes his way. This is one of the many proofs.

“Hello, Agent Grapes!” Agent Choi crooned, smiling as always. “We started off on the wrong foot the last time, let’s continue our conversation, okay?”

They were in another disaster together, because of course they were. And, even more unfortunately for Soulem, it was just the two of them.

Ah… Agent Choi,” Soleum left eye twitched.

Why did it have to be him? Did the universe hold a grudge on him?

Thankfully, there was a silver lining—this was a relatively simple disaster. Soleum was confident he could clear it alone.

As long as that agent didn’t do anything.

Sooo… do you know anything about this disaster?”

Should he tell Agent Choi?

He wasn’t going to get interrogated if he did, right?

“...It’s a two-person disaster,” he started, then continued explaining about the basic mechanics. He kept it as vague as he could, because hopefully, one who prided himself as a “senior agent” could read between the lines.

“I see,” Choi hummed. “Would you mind telling me where you got that information from?”

His eyes twinkled with mirth, far too much for somebody trapped in a disaster.

This was a trap.

“...A manual.” Soleum said, doubling down on his alleged agent identity.

Agent Choi grinned, which was never a good sign. “Really? I don’t think there’s a manual like that yet, Grapes. I’m going to need you to be very co-operative with my questions, okay?”

“—What?”

The next thing Soleum knew, he found himself in a glass orb.

“Oh! Jaekwan, he’s awake!”

The noise echoing in the room drove any sleep he had left from him. Rubbing his eyes to dispel the lag from the nap, he looked up. Across from him, there were two agents.

One of them—unfortunately—was Agent Choi.

It was always Agent Choi.

The other agent, with black hair, was scrutinizing a file with his brow creased. After a moment, he turned to look at Agent Choi, who had his head lowered like a petulant child.

“Agent.” His voice was laced with obvious exasperation. “Why exactly did you capture this civilian?”

Agent Choi shrugged casually. “He was just a little bit suspicious, okay?”

“You…” the agent cut himself off, for his sanity, probably. “Nevermind.”

The agent turned back to Soleum.

“Sorry for the inconvenience, we’ll be asking you a few questions because my teammate…” He glanced at Agent Choi incredulously, “brought you here without approval.”

So agents needed approval to imprison people? It would've been nice to know.

But then again. It was Agent Choi.

“Firstly, please state your identity.”

“I’m a civilian.”

Truth.

“Okay, thank you for your response,” He paused, looking down at the file with even more disbelief.

“Are you... a supernatural entity?” The agent squinted, his tone sounding like he didn’t believe the question himself.

What kind of question was that? Why would they think he was an entity?!

“...No.”

Truth.

The black-haired agent looked at Agent Choi with a deadpan look. “So… You imprisoned a normal person.”

“Oh?” Agent Choi leaned back in his interrogator’s chair, feigning surprise. “Did I?”

He gave a small chuckle, continuing, “Sorry, Jaekwan. Another team told me he could be one of those friendly entities.”

Jaekwan didn’t respond, instead pressing a button.

“We… apologise for the inconvenience, again. The bureau will compensate you for your time today.”

Soleum just sat on the floor for a moment. Wondering, really wondering what he was doing was his life.

Getting accused of being an entity, apparently.

He stood up, brushing his sides in rapid succession as if he could physically pluck the experience off him, giving the agents a final glance.

Just as he was about to leave, he heard a sound.

Tap, tap.

Agent Choi leaned over the mic—testing it, then, in a rushed voice. “You’d make a great agent, you won’t have to pretend if you join!”

“I’ll put in a good word for you if you do—” His voice abruptly cut off as Jaekwan yanked him from the microphone by the arm.

The agent who had kidnapped him here today was trying to make him join the bureau?

The audacity.

Soleum didn’t even turn around as he walked out of the room, the building, unfortunately taking the memories of this with him.

Because, really.

Life never went his way.
