Notes:

With 1.9k words, I think this is one of my longer chapters, usually I write 1K

My brain was apologising for the late and inconsistent chapters probably.

I am still living down my fever so please don't mind the grammer mistakes etc!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Damian knew since the first day he met you that you were more social than him. More popular. Always surrounded by people. Whenever you two walked in the hallways, you would stop to greet someone. He never found it bad, just mildly annoying, never bad.

But right now?

Watching some boy ask you out? With flowers?

Hell no

Why was this happening so often lately?

During these past days, multiple boys and girls had come to ask you out. It was getting annoying. He expected you to turn the boy down like everyone before but for some reason you took the flowers and the boy smiled shyly and you were talking and- Damian quickly turned around and started to speed walk towards the schools exit.

He couldn't understand this feeling at all.

He had to talk to one of his brothers.

"Drake!" Damian run up to the man sitting on the couch and doomscrolling his brain away. "Did you see Grayson? Or Todd?" Tim didn't care enough to look up and shrugged. "I didn't see anything but my phone screen today" Damian scrunched his nose.

"Your screen-time needs to be studied"

"and your personality needs to be studied- oh wait, you don't have one"

"Tt, fine, you didn't see them but you know where they are, don't you?" Damian slapped the phone out of Tims hand and started to hold it up. No matter what, Tim was thee shortest out of the boys.

"Damian!" Tim shot up, jumping to get the phone. Damian got on his toes with a shit eating grin, baring his white, straight teeth. "I refuse to give you your phone back until you tell me the locations of Grayson and Todd"

Tim tried to tackle Damian but failed when the young man dodged. "Fine! Dick is in Blud on some business and Jason is with the outlaws. Dinosaur Island." Damian threw the phone on the couch. Tim dove in with shining eyes, hugging his phone to his chest.

Damian ignored his brothers addictive behaviour, he was too busy trying to come up with a solution now that both of his emotional support brothers weren't available. "Who else can help me..."

Stretching his legs out on the coffee table, Tim popped his gum. "I can help you out, for a generous price. Discount since you're my brother"

Damian stared at Tim, watching the chemically pink gum blow and pop twice before his shoulders dropped and he sat down next to Tim, pushing his legs down from the coffee table during the process.

"Name your price…" he sighed with defeat. Tim grinned like a kid given candy. A lot of candy.

"I want 2 no question asked and 2 patrol covers" Tim popped his gum again. Damian's eyes twitched, "Both of us- no, all of Gotham is aware that your advice is not that worthy"

"Take it or leave it Dames. But fact is, Dick is chasing some bad guys and Jason isn't even contactable. Unless you think B is an option, I am all you have"

"I still can call Brown" Damian held up his phone.

"And risk half of Gotham knowing your problems?"

Damian though for one moment before puting his phone down. "Onne no question asked and two patrol covers"

"Deal, now tell me"

"Alright, so, this past week multiple people kept asking her out for some reason"

"Dames, that's because Junior prom is soon"

"Wait, really?"

"Yes! Are you even paying attention in things at school?"

"Not unless she tells me about them"

"Oh my god- Damian!" Tim looked insulted.

"What?

"Junior Prom is important!"

"Is it?"

"Yes!" (a/n: idk, m'no american)

"So… should I have asked her to accompany me?" Damian tilted his head thoughtfully.

"Yes. You like her, Prom is a perfect time to ask her out!"

"So, you mean her Prom date might ask her out?"

"Yes they migh- SHE ALREADY HAS A PROM DATE?" Tim grabbed Damian by his collar. "WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU DOING?"

Damians eyes widened in surprise, "Drake what are you doing?"

"What kind of idiot are you that you let your crush go to prom with someone else?"

Tim sighed and let Damian go. "Okay, change of plans. First, you need to figure out how close they are"

"I know they are not eally close, she would've told me"

"What if she didn't? You are not her only friend"

Right, you had tons of friends and people around you, he can't be sure of your relationship with everyone?

"Okay, how do I do that?" Damian sat upright, listening even more closely.

"Through tactical surveillance. Gather information on his intends with her and on the type of guy she likes."

"So, you suggest stalking?"

"I said tactical surveillance" Tim pressed, he was no stalker after all.

This was the second time Damian was praying to god because of his family.

But what other option did he have?

Literally anyone and anything else…

"Drake this is basically stalking" Damian complained as they sat down on the rooftop across your apartment, facing your window.

He had to tell you to keep your curtains closed next time you guys talk.

You were laying on your bed, a comic in your hands as you read through it, the flowers you got earlier that day resting on your desk.

Tim took a picture of the flowers.

"Drake why-"

"The flowers aren't in a vase, means either she doesn't like them or doesn't care about flowers"

Damian was already regretting asking Tim for help.

They were in their suits, which made it worse.

How would they explain this to you if they got caught?

Damian frowned and turned back to watching you.

This felt wrong on so many levels.

As Todd would put it, "fucking creep behaviour"

You put down the comic, grinning as you took your phone, starting to type on it. You closed your screen and Damians phone vibrated in his pocket. Pulling it out, it was a message from you.

There was a picture of the comic panel that had made you laugh. A scene where a girl and boy were arguing over what apple tasted better. You had added an "us" to the message. Damian smiled and messaged you back "green apples are objectively speaking better"

A screenshot of an article from the Gotham Gazette, talking about how supermarkets sell more red apples than green ones annually.

followed by a:

"U sure, Dami?"

Tim grunted "She's texting someone"

Damian scoffed, "Yes, she's texting with me"

And he was back to texting you:

"I wouldn't trust Vicky Vale"

"The statistics are literally from Wayne Enterprises"

You added another one while he was mid typing.

"What's your beef witch Vicky anyways?"

And another one while he was deleting the old message to answer this one.

"And why does WE have static about apple sales?"

Damian chuckled and Tim looked at him, mortified.

The Demon could do that?

Damian chose to answer only the message about WE.

"Beats me, father has to be in every market I guess"

Tim tapped Damian on his shoulder, "Dude, you're scarring me. You weren't compromised, right?"

Damian sighed, "Why would you assume that?"

"You laughed twice! And you were smiling the whole time" Tim threw his hands up as he spoke, animated.

"Because unlike a conversation with you, this conversation was actually amusing and thriving"

Damian put his phone back into his utility belt. "This feels wrong, we should go back home"

Tim looked at your window, then at Damian, shrugging. "Not my problem"

While Tim was climbing down to go back to his bike, Damian grappled over to your window, tapping on it.

You jumped up, reaching for the night lamp on your bed side table, only to drop it once you saw Robin. You rushed over to the window, eyes still wide open. "What the hell, Robin?" you tore the window open. "You should keep your curtains closed, I was passing by and noticed how easy to look inside is" You looked at your curtains, in your favourite colour, and back to Robin. "Is that all?" You looked suspicous.

Rightfully so.

"Uh… I guess? Nice flowers by the way, they look… adequate." Maybe he could get more information from you as a half-stranger?

You looked back at your desk to check on the flowers for just a second. "Oh those? A guy in my school gave them to me for my sister"

Damian raised an eyebrow at that.

"For your sister? Why?"

You shrugged, stepping more inside your room and signalling for him to come inside with your hand. "Come inside, it's suspicious if people see me talking to Robin at my window"

Damian put his feet inside, hesitantly looking around your room. It was an ordinary room, most of the stuff in colours he knew you liked. There was a board on the wall next to your bed witch picture on it. Some with your family, some with various friends. But most noticeably, a lot of pictures with him. As Damian of course.

"The guy is friends with my sister but she moved out recently, he asked if I could give them to her as a housewarming gift because he's busy on the day she is throwing the housewarming-party"

That made… enough sense?

"So he didn't ask you out?"

You turned to him with confusion, "Why did you ask?"

Damian gulped, starting to inspect the flower pedals. "Uhh… prom is soon, right? I thought they could be for that…"

"Oh! Yeah, no, I turned everyone down till now. There's someone I want to go with but I am not sure if he wants too…" You looked down at your feet, fiddling with your fingers behind your back.

You had someone you wanted to ask? Who? Damian felt his heart do that weird thing.

"Maybe I could help, who is it?" Being your friend as Robin could be useful…

You sat down on the edge of your bed and he pulled your chair across from you and sat down.

"It's…" you sighed, throwing your head back the way you do when something is frustrating you. "It's a guy I am close with, we are uhh… he sits next to me and we talk and text a lot and… I don't know if he thinks of me that way… he got me flowers the fist time we went out… I dried them up to keep them and all but… what if he was just being nice?" You looked genuinely confused. "He's really sweet and all but I know a little bit about his family and they go over the top a lot so I am not sure if the flowers were a "I am interested in you" flowers or "I wanted to get my friends" flowers…"

Close friend…

Sits next to you…

Flowers on first outing…

Were you talking about him?

"Sounds… confusing… are there other signs?" Damian had to stay in character.

"I mean, we held hands a couple of times but i hold hands with my other friends too…"

"Does he tough?"

You looked back at him, "What?"

"Does he hold hands with other friends as well or just you?"

You tilted your head for a little bit, then shook it. "Not that I know of… I think I am his closest friend but there are other people he hangs out with time to time and…" you looked down thoughtfully.

He found it cute, how your head went from back to normal to the side and then down- it was portraying most of your feelings.

"To me, that sounds like he feels special about you"

"You think so?"

"Yes"

"Robin?"

"Yes?"

"Thank you"

"For what?"

"For listening"
