Chapter Text
Yi Xi had heard the broadcast, but she wasn't intimidated by the new planet.
Some civilians went into hiding, collecting all the food they could find to defend themselves. But most people just went in with their lives like nothing happened, like there wasn't a large planet filled with life right in their solar system.
On the morning of May 24th, 3095, Yi Xi walked into her butcher shop. She held a bag in her right hand, the material stained crimson. A new hunt. Within the bag, there was some meat. Nicely packed into plastic, ready to be sold.
She entered through the back door, as she always did before opening. It was 6:30AM. Just enough time to prepare for another day of selling meat and planning what customers she could catch.
She reached into her bag, finding the meat. She located the shelf where its 'kin' were, and placed it there. Over the next... ten minutes, she checked the shelves and fixed all flaws that could be fixed. As she did, she hummed a familiar tune to herself,
"They say my hunger's a problem, they tell me to curb my appetite. They say I can't keep myself from trying, a bite of every plate in sight."
When she had finished, she walked to the sign on the door and flipped it to say open. She walked back to the counter, grabbing a pack of smoked jerky. She snacked on it, patiently painting for her first customers to walk through the doors. Maybe a regular, maybe someone she could steal, or maybe someone entirely new.
Whoever it was, she was ready.
