Chapter Text
Oliver paced around the room for minutes, waiting to see when Cooper would come back. He tried not to freak out, but he didn't know how to process what had just happened. He decided to go over the facts.
Fact #1: he had basically just confessed that he thought Cooper should break up with his boyfriend for him.
Fact #2: Cooper had seemed... receptive?
Fact #3: Cooper had left, and Oliver was freaking out.
Finally, the front door opened. Cooper came inside, looking out of breath, and walked straight toward Oliver with determination.
"Dude," Cooper said, and Oliver finally knew that it meant exactly what he had always hoped.
"Dude," Oliver said back and grabbed Cooper's face.
They kissed. They kissed and kissed and kissed. They kissed for all the times they had both wanted to kiss each other but never had. They ran their hands through each other's hair. They pulled each other so close that Oliver couldn't tell where he ended and Cooper began. This was what it was supposed to feel like to be with someone.
Eventually, they broke apart.
For a moment, they just stared at each other. Then they both laughed.
Cooper broke out of his laughter and said, "How did we never realise before now? Are we both that oblivious?"
Oliver shrugged. "I guess we really are."
Cooper sighed. "Dude, I love you. Like a lot."
Oliver said, "Dude, I love you too. Like so much."
Oliver wrapped his arms around Cooper. Cooper hugged back. They broke apart and went over to sit on the couch. Oliver grabbed Cooper's hand when they sat down.
"When did you know?" Oliver asked.
"We were at a party a few months ago, and I saw this girl flirting with you. It totally hit me like a jet that night." Oliver laughed. "The night I had to carry you home?" Cooper laughed too. "Yeah. I only got so wasted because of that." They both looked at each other and smiled.
"When did you know?" Cooper asked.
Oliver swallowed. "When we kissed last year." Cooper's face went slack. "Oh," he said.
"Yeah," Oliver said, feeling uncomfortable with his admission.
Cooper smiled. "I have no idea how I didn't realise then, considering how much I enjoyed that kiss. I was such an idiot!"
They both laughed.
"Well, we're together now. Oliver Otto, will you be my boyfriend?"
Oliver pretended to think it over for a minute.
Cooper was getting impatient. "Ollie! Come on."
Oliver smiled. "Of course, I will, Coop. Of course."
They turned on the TV and cuddled up to each other.
It really was Oliver and Cooper against the world. And it always would be.
