Chapter Text
Alexa’s eyes slowly blinked open, groggy and mind still hazy from one of the best nights of sleep she had ever gotten. As she regained consciousness, blinking away lingering sleepiness, she felt something cool and firm against her. The feeling enveloped her almost completely. Still feeling the after product of her nights rest, she attempted to prop herself up only to be met with the fact she couldn’t and a pair of wings (and arms) were wrapped around her.
She instantly felt her face get hot as she realized the position she was in. The position she was in with a literal god. Someone who had almost killed her and forced her to house them as they learned about earth. Despite the compromising position, Alexa found that she didn’t want to move, not one bit. Jamie’s cool skin was like a cooling blanket over her always warm skin. Alexa melted back into Jamie’s grasp, practically molding her body to the others touch.
She didn’t know if Jamie was awake or not, but she didn’t care at the moment. She was all too comfortable to be bothered about embarrassment at the moment. Alexa let out a small, content sigh as she relaxed in the grasp of Jamie, who was, in fact, not awake. After Alexa noticed this she calmed even further, playing gently with the feathers of the wings enveloping her.
Jamie’s breath was even and slow, her body lax while managing to keep a surprisingly strong hold on Alexa. It took Alexa a while to be able to wiggle out of Jamie’s hold. Putting a pillow in place of where she had been so she could get ready without waking up Jamie. She got up, stretching her arms above her head with a small pop before walking out of the bedroom to the bathroom.
It was silent other than the sound of Alexa brushing her teeth, still in her clothes from yesterday that she had fallen asleep in. The silence wasn’t interrupted as she headed out to the kitchen to make food for the both of them. Jamie didn’t really need to eat or sleep or anything of that, but it was tiring not to, as she had described. So Alexa always set plates for two. It was simply breakfast today some frozen waffles in the toaster, eggs sizzling and popping quietly on the stovetop and sausage in a separate pan also on the stovetop.
Alexa was honestly just spacing out as she made the food, not even noticing the footsteps coming down the hallway. She did however notice when Jamie leaned over her shoulder, looking at the food on the stove. Alexa had jumped slightly at the sudden presence of Jamie.
“What are you making?” Jamie asked innocently, tilting her head to the side gently. “Oh, uhm, just some waffles, eggs and sausage” Alexa responded, trying to ignore the warmth blooming on her cheeks. “You scared me, you know?” Alexa joked, chuckling softly as Jamie looked confused and apologized quietly. “It’s fine, I’m just joking” She clarified. “Oh” Jamie responded, god she was so stupidly innocent when she wanted to be…
There Alexa stood in the kitchen, Jamie now leaning over her shoulder watching her cook. Jamie was close enough for the other woman to smell her hair, it smelled of sweet honey and strawberries. Alexa would be lying if she said she wasn’t blushing, at least a little bit. This fact was made obvious by Jamie concerned voice from beside her. “You’re looking a bit.. flushed, are you feeling ill?” She asked with a slightly tilt of her head. “I-, no I’m alright, just a bit hot in here I guess-“ Alexa stammered, trying to play off the heat rising on her cheeks.
“Okay”
The answer from Jamie was simply yet only made the red rising on her face grow. She turned away from Jamie slightly, trying to hide her blush as she turned off the stove. “Can you plate the food? I’m gonna go to the bathroom real quick” Alexa asked, quickly walking off to the bathroom once Jamie nodded.
Alexa made it to the bathroom and quickly shut and locked the door. ‘What is wrong with me today?!’ Alexa questioned as she leaned her elbows on the bathroom counter, head in her hands. When she looked up from her hands, the mirror looked back at her. She sighed, splashing some water on her face, begging her mind to get a grip before heading back out to the kitchen.
Jamie was right there waiting for her, two plates set at the small table in the kitchen. “Thanks” Alexa says as she sits down, quietly picking up her fork and starting to eat in silence. They always ate in silence like this, it was calm and peaceful, just a way to enjoy the morning with each other. The two finished up their meal and Alexa walked back to her room, going to get ready for work.
Jamie, for once, decided to stay home and relax while Alexa went to work. Alexa wasn’t really sure why if she was honest with herself, Jamie always hung out with her at the cafe she worked at, but she tried to not question it. The goddess would probably show at some point durning her shift like she had done the one other time she didn’t just go with her.
The drive to the work place was quiet, only the subtle clicking of her turn signal as she turned into the parking lot. There was about 30 minutes before the café opened, which meant 30 minutes to get everything ready for the day ahead. Turning on the espresso machine as the baker, a 19 year old named Yazzie, showed up to start making the baked goods to put up front.
Alexa was setting everything up when her phone rang and Jamie’s name scowled across the screen with a heart next to it. When had she added the heart again? Hell if she could remember. For now she just picked up the phone and answered it.
“Hello?” Alexa spoke as she picked up the phone.
“Where are you? I thought you said you didn’t have work today?” Jamie’s voice came through the phone sounding concerned.
“I thought you saw me leaving, I got called in because Alana call out sick” Alexa answered calmly. “You alright at home?” She asked.
“Yeah, but I would have liked to come with you if I knew” Jamie complained and Alexa could tell she was pouting through the phone. It was honestly kind of cute sometimes how Jamie pouted over the simplest things. Alexa shook off those thoughts as she felt warmth crawling up her cheeks.
“Do you want me to call an uber or something to come get you?” Alexa offered with a soft smile despite Jamie not being able to see it.
“Yes! Please,” Jamie answered excitedly, remembering to use her manners last minute. Alexa let out a huff of air through her nose, not quite a laugh, but damn close.
“Alright, I’ll text you what time it should be there once I order it, stay inside till about 5 minutes before the time I give you.” Alexa says.
