Chapter Text
Megumi foolishly thought that he would be able to sleep in, it being a Saturday, no missions, nothing to do. But he should have known his idiot friends wouldn’t allow that.
Nobara had barged into Megumi’s dorm, insisting that he would accompany her to this new cafe that had opened up recently. Megumi, of course, refused. But Nobara wouldn’t take that for an answer.
She practically dragged Megumi out of his bed.
”I am not going to go to a cafe alone,” Nobara said with her usual irritation.
”Why not invite Maki, instead of dragging me there with you,” Megumi replied with matching irritation. After all, he had just been woken up on a Saturday when he wanted to be sleeping in.
Nobara blushed at that.
”Are you coming or not??” Nobara exclaimed, completely ignoring what Megumi had said. “Itadori will be there!”
At the sound of Yuji’s name, Megumi thought about going with Nobara once over again.
“…Maybe.”
That was a yes in Nobara’s book.
She narrowed her eyes at Megumi, suspicious of him for whatever reason.
”Okay… Well, hurry up and get ready already, we don't have all day!” Nobara said, releasing Megumi’s wrist from which she had been grasping to drag Megumi out of his bed.
”Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Can you go now?” Megumi was getting more irritated by the second, probably due to the fact that he had been woken up earlier than he’d liked. “I would like to get ready in peace, please.”
Nobara exited Megumi’s dorm, allowing him to do so.
Megumi stepped over to his dresser. He wasn’t sure what he wanted to wear.
He decided to go for a black graphic T-shirt, baggy jeans, and a zip-up hoodie. Simple, but not too simple as to be underdressed.
————————————————
Megumi’s phone buzzed in his pocket as he was walking out of his dorm.
It was a message from Nobara in the group chat with her, Megumi, and Yuji.
Nobara Kugisaki: Wait outside of the dorm building for me u two
Itadori Yuji: kugisaki dont tell me your gonna take a million years to get readyyy
Megumi Fushiguro: You’re*
Nobara Kugisaki: Fushiguro does bad grammar really bother u that much
Megumi Fushiguro: No.
Nobara Kugisaki: Sure
Megumi could just hear how Nobara didn’t believe him through his phone.
Nobara Kugisaki: And Itadori, I'm not gonna take that long to get ready!!
Quit acting like i take an hour to get ready
Itadori Yuji: u kinda do tho…
Nobara Kugisaki: Itadori when i see you im gonna fucking kick your ass.
Megumi shut his phone off at that. He didn’t feel like watching Nobara and Yuji bicker over something as pointless as that.
He stepped fully out of his dorm room, closing and locking the door behind him.
He started down the hallway, passing empty rooms for the most part, not many people went to Jujutsu High, after all.
“Gumi!!!”
A voice comes from behind him.
He knows exactly who it is.
“Gojo.” Megumi said, pausing his walk and turning his head to glare behind him.
“Don’t sound so excited to see me, Megs,” Gojo teased with his usual cheery attitude. “You’re not usually up this early on a Saturday, and you’re all dressed up, where are you going?” Gojo inquired, his head tilted in a curious manner.
”I’m going to this new cafe that opened up with Kugisaki and Itadori.” Megumi said, still glaring at Gojo. “Well, Kugisaki kind of forced me to go with her.”
Gojo smirked at Megumi. The hell is he smirking about?
“Well, tell me how it was when you get back,” Gojo said.
Megumi just rolled his eyes and turned his head back around.
“By the way, Gumi, have you seen my dear Suguboo by chance?” Gojo said.
Megumi cringed at how Gojo said Geto-Sensei’s name.
“I think Geto-Sensei is in the classrooms.” Megumi deadpanned.
“Awh, thank you Gumi!!” Gojo said, walking past Megumi and patting him on the head in the process.
Megumi watched as Gojo sauntered down the hall, walking out of the dormitory doors. Megumi followed shortly after, stepping down the steps of the building to wait outside for Yuji and Nobara.
Gojo was somehow nowhere to be seen, even though he had just walked out.
Well, Satoru Gojo was the fastest Sorcerer of his time, so, it kinda made sense.
————————————————
“Hey, Fushi!!” A voice came from in front of Megumi.
Megumi looked up from his phone.
The pink-haired boy was walking down the steps of the dormitory building where Megumi was waiting.
”Hi,” Megumi replied.
I forgot he was using that nickname for me.
Yuji was wearing his usual red sneakers, with jeans, and, of course, a hoodie.
Megumi slid his phone into his pocket, he figured Nobara would be out soon. Probably.
“Oh yeah, you don’t mind that I use that nickname for you, right?” Yuji asked.
“No, I don’t really care,” Megumi replied.
“Okay, great!” Yuji smiled at him.
Megumi checked the time on his phone. 9:47 AM. A whole 17 minutes from when Nobara said they’d be going out. Ugh. Megumi rolled his eyes to himself in annoyance, looking up at the sky.
“We can never rely on Kugisaki being on time, can we?” Yuji chuckled.
Megumi glanced over at Yuji, who was staring at him.
Megumi sighed.
“Nope.”
He ran his hand through his black hair.
He winced. had accidentally used his injured arm. Slowly, he lowered his arm, as to not inflict further pain.
“Oh! Fushi, does your arm feel any better from last night?” Yuji asked.
Megumi lowered his head.
“Not really,” Megumi said.
“Awh… I hope it gets better soon,” Yuji said with a small, sympathetic smile.
“Wait,” Megumi started “Why the fuck couldn’t Shoko have just used her technique on it?”
“Oh, yeah, she didn't, did she? Hm... That’s odd…” Yuji said.
“Are you two ready to go?” Nobara said while stepping down the dormitory building’s stairs.
“We’ve been ready, Kugisaki, you took, like, twenty minutes to get ready!!” Yuji said.
“No I did not! I took, like, 10 minutes, max!” Kugisaki argued.
Megumi just watched them argue. Yuji looked so cute when he argued.
…cute? God, why do I keep thinking about Yuji like this?
”Oh, good! You’re all here!” A voice came from Megumi’s left.
Megumi turned towards the voice, and Nobara and Yuji stopped bickering.
It was Geto-Sensei, with Gojo draped over his shoulders.
Geto-Sensei called Panda, Maki, and Inumaki from across the courtyard over to the first-years, Megumi hadn’t noticed they were over there.
Once the second-years had gathered with the rest of the group, Geto-Sensei began to talk.
”Alright, you all must be wondering why I had you gathered here,” Geto-Sensei started, Megumi just wanted him to get to the point already. “I have come to share great news that Yuta Okkotsu is coming back from Africa!”
The second years lit up at that—well, mainly Inumaki.
Maki… Reacted, but she wasn’t ecstatic, she was happy Okkotsu was coming home, yeah, but it didn’t really affect her all that much.
Inumaki, on the other hand… Well, his eyes lit up, and he was bouncing, it looked like he could barely contain his excitement. If they were inside, Megumi was sure he’d be bouncing off the walls.
Panda was happy too, if Panda could even feel happiness…? Megumi still wasn’t too sure.
Yuji looked happy, well, happier than usual, at least. Nobara seemed unaffected.
“Okkotsu is expected to arrive here at Tokyo Jujutsu High tomorrow, around 11 AM.” Geto continued. “We have planned a little welcome home celebration—now, before half of you start sulking about it, it’s not gonna be some big extravagant event, it’s just gonna be a relaxed evening, allowing Okkotsu to get settled in here again after being abroad for so long.”
Megumi was relieved. He really did not want to have to sit through what would have practically been a party.
Thankfully, it seems Geto-Sensei did most of the planning for this, which he thanked him for. If Gojo planned it, Megumi would have been in hell.
“Okay, you all can carry on with whatever you were doing before, I just wanted to share this with you all so you were notified ahead of time. You all are dismissed.” Geto-Sensei said while waving off the first and second-years.
”Can we go now?” Megumi asked.
”Yeah, not my fault Geto-Sensei kept us from going,” Nobara replied snarkily.
”I never said it was- oh, whatever,” Megumi said.
————————————————
The walk from Jujutsu High to the cafe was about 20 minutes, so not really long enough to need to take the train.
They stopped right at the entrance of the cafe, which was called “Mukuwa Reta Ai”
“Maki invited me somewhere, see ya’ll later,” Nobara said, turning back the way they had just come.
”Wha- hey! Kugisaki!! Don’t tell me you’re ditching us!!!” Yuji called after Nobara. “You’re literally the one who invited us here!!”
”Look, I have my priorities,” Nobara stated, glancing back at Yuji and Megumi. “Welp, I gotta go.”
Nobara turned back towards the sidewalk ahead of her, starting to walk away.
”And don’t either of you dare disturb me,” Nobara called back to Megumi and Yuji.
”Ughh,” Megumi groaned. Running a hand over his face. “You’ve actually got to be kidding.”
“I can’t believe she really ditched us…” Yuji said. “Well, it won't be too bad, right? Since you’re here,”
Megumi flushed.
…Huh?? Did Yuji really just—no, he probably didn’t mean it like that.
Megumi shot a glance at Yuji, who was, of course, staring at him. Yuji was… Also blushing a little… Odd.
Megumi quickly looked away.
”Are we gonna go in or not?” Megumi asked.
”O-oh! Right, sorry. Yeah we can go in.” Yuji replied, sounding a little startled.
Megumi walked to the door of the cafe, holding it open for Yuji, who smiled at him.
Megumi walked in after Yuji, looking around the interior of the cafe.
“I can go find us a booth if you want to order for us,” Megumi said.
”Sure! What do you want?” Yuji said.
”Just a black coffee, thanks,” Megumi replied.
”Wow, just plain black coffee? Awfully boring of you, Fushi,” Yuji teased.
“What, is liking black coffee a crime now?” Megumi glared at Yuji, though having no annoyance behind it.
“Woah, not what i said, grumpy,” Yuji grinned.
Megumi just rolled his eyes.
Yuji walked off to the counter to order, while Megumi went to find a booth for them.
Megumi had found a booth pretty quickly, it was by the window, close to the corner, but not too close. He took a seat and waited for Yuji.
His phone buzzed in his pocket.
It was a text message from Nobara. So Nobara can bother us but we cant bother her.
Nobara Kugisaki (10:35 AM): Soo hows it goinggg
Megumi typed a reply.
Fushiguro Megumi (10:36 AM): What?
The typing bubble popped up almost immediately.
Nobara Kugisaki (10:36 AM): Yknowww
The cafe
With Itadori
What is Nobara trying to get at? She’s clearly trying to get at something.
Fushiguro Megumi (10:37 AM): It’s fine? Itadori is ordering right now.
The typing bubble appeared and disappeared.
After a few minutes, finally, Nobara replied.
Nobara Kugisaki (10:40 AM): If anything happens tell meee
What??? Megumi is so confused.
Megumi slides his phone back into his pocket, trying to think of what the fuck Nobara could be trying to say.
After a little while of waiting, Yuji walked up to the booth, placed a to-go style cup in front of Megumi, and placed a milkshake on the table across from Megumi.
Yuji sat down in the booth in front of Megumi,
“I still think that drinking plain black coffee is weird, like, no sweeteners or anything?!” Yuji said, “How can you drink that? Isn’t it, like, really bitter or something?”
“I don’t think overloading your coffee with a bunch of sweeteners and shit should still even be classified as coffee anymore,” Megumi said, taking a sip out of his cup. “But, I mean, yeah, it is bitter, but not overly so. The bitterness is balanced. Some coffees are more bitter than others, it's a matter of quality, actually.”
Yuji was staring intently at Megumi.
”Ohh, that makes sense.” Yuji said, taking a sip out of the red and white striped straw in his milkshake.
“You’re acting as if me talking about coffee is interesting,” Megumi said.
“It’s interesting to me?” Yuji said, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
“Soo,” Yuji started.
Megumi tilted his head curiously.
“Have you like… Been reading or watching anything new recently?” Yuji asked.
Megumi was surprised that Yuji had asked about reading of all things. As far as Megumi knew, Yuji doesn't really read, well, aside from comics but that’s about it.
“Yeah, I’ve started a new book recently.” Megumi said.
”Oooh, cool! What’s it about?” Yuji inquired.
Megumi was even more surprised that Yuji was asking about the book with such intent.
”You’re not usually this interested in books.” Megumi said.
”Yeah, I don’t really like reading, but I like seeing you talk about things you like.” Yuji smiled warmly.
For some reason, Megumi blushed.
