Chapter Text
Agustus...has had enough of this whole lovey dovey thing with Thomas and Mr. Flux.
From the moment Thomas dragged him up the water elevator to meet the rest of his group — which he later learned was called the Hostel Group, because they lived on top of a hostel. How creative. — eager to meet new friends.
There, he met the others one by one. Stella, a kind face that he could be around since she knew to stay quiet when someone needed it. Unlike a certain someone around him, talking his absolute ass off whenever he could.
Magic, a odd fellow, one that Agustus had to watch out for, definitely. There was just...something about her that Agustus himself couldn't understand. Though, if Thomas said she was nice, then he guesses he could stay near her. For now.
The scientist, or Saps, rather, was definitely his first target though. He had started with calling him too white, then called him the queer white fellow when he lingered around Agustus too long. An odd one indeed.
Then finally, he met Flux. From the moment Thomas caught sight of the former, he talked about him as if he was some sort of god— constantly praising and defending Flux no matter how much his actions flickered between morally grey and pure evil.
At first, Agustus just thought the kid had some sort of a... weird sort of admiration for the man. After all, Flux wasn't all that, from what Agustus could observe the first few days after meeting him.
Then, as the days passed, he eventually noticed how long Thomas' 'just checking in!' glances took when it was Flux. His gaze lingered just a second or two too long when it landed on Flux, compared to the others. He started noticing that wherever Flux went, Thomas followed.
It's as if they had been known each other and we're even best friends in their past life, attached to the hip.
Now, to the others, it looked as if Thomas looked like a stray puppy following a mother, naive and obedient.
To Agustus on the otherhand— he noticed what others didn't.
Agustus has learnt that when you stay quiet, some people just subconsciously forget you're there, and you get to observe and listen in on their actions and words.
A similar situation like that happened once. Agustus, Flux, and Thomas were all alone in the hostel. Magic and Stella had goofed off into the lower floors of the hostel, and Saps decided to go visit Grayleigh. Something about checking on her and how much time she had left considering she was infected all and all.
Agustus had finally been able to get some peace and quiet after enough shooing Thomas away, sitting on top of one of the trees the Hostel Group regularly planted.
"What do you think they're doing down there?" Thomas asks, helping Flux repair the elevator shaft. It had needed to be repaired for a little while now anyway.
"I don't know." Flux shrugs, passing Thomas another block. He seemed to ponder on something, as if he wasn't sure if he was allowed to say it, but he did anyway. "I suppose it's better whenever it's just the two of us up here. Alone." Flux said, emphasizing the word alone.
That made Agustus pause. What the hell did Flux mean by that? Had he really forgotten that he was still up on the tree? Jeez, he didn't want to hang up here to listen to their little chit-chat, especially if it was this.
Thomas pauses, tilting his head as he glanced at Flux, "Hmm." He hummed softly.
Wow, did Thomas really just brush whatever that was Flux just said to him? Dear god, does Thomas like the guy back? Agustus would hope not. They would make an odd and weird couple to most, honestly.
Agustus just sighs softly to himself, rolling his eyes. Well, he was already here. He might aswell stay and listen just in case Flux had any more possessive bullcrap to say. Maybe Thomas would say something too. That would be interesting to ponder on.
Naive, kind, and all too trusting Thomas, trying to flirt back with cold, dismissive and somewhat sassy Mr. Flux.
Damn. What an odd pair they were. Whatever it is, deep inside, Agustus just knows he's here. Here for the yaoi.
Holy shit, Agustus doesn't even know if even the yaoi was worth staying for anymore.
It's definitely been a rough few weeks, with the Magic incident — Agustus was definitely right about not trusting her fully at first, by the way —, the Saps incident, and everything Flux did, really.
It's started to get better nowadays, though. Magic and the rest of them have promised to tell eachother if they ever got infected or bit ever again.
Though, the not so nice part was when Stella slapped him on the head for sarcastically making a joke that he got bit and was about to die.
"Yeah, I'm infected and I'm about to die." Agustus said in the most deadpan and sarcastic voice he could muster, earning a glare from the rest of them.
Stella went over and promptly smacked him on the head, frowning. "Be serious, Agustus."
"Ow!" Agustus winces, rolling his eyes. Jeez, can't a guy have some humor or something?
Though, if somebody asked, — specifically Flux or Thomas, — no, he did not agree to help Stella and Magic help Flux and Thomas up together.
He knew yaoi came at a high price, and Agustus was ready to pay any just to get this absolutely ridiculous slow-burn yaoi over with.
The two were still in the denial stage, after all. Just a little push and they'd be together soon. Maybe.
