Chapter 5: Waking Up To Reality

Summary:

With some issues resolved, the two can say that they came out of the whole thing better.

Chapter Text

The two women had a long, and very necessary conversation after their soak in the hot spring yesterday. It'd been years since Mavuika let herself unload her stress like that. And Xilonen had been letting her feelings for the ruler simmer unchecked for nearly as long. And now they both felt much freer.

“Comfy there, pussy cat?”

Mavuika teased as they lay on the couch together. Xilonen was laying on top of the Archon, arms lazily wrapped around the red haired woman's neck as her ocelot tail swayed softly. Xilonen was purring as Mavuika rubbed her back, letting out a soft, approving breath.

“How's the Traveler been holding up?”

“Pretty good, the corruption is practically all cleansed. Whatever that means for when she'll wake up…”

Xilonen adjusted, moving up to nuzzle into Mavuika's neck. But her ears suddenly twitched.

“Everything good, Xilonen?”

“Yeah, it must’ve been nothing…”

They returned to their quiet togetherness, but then her ears twitched again a minute later, tail stilling its movements.

“It sounds like something's moving…”

“Maybe a wandering mouse got in? Or a raccoon is just hanging around outside?”

“Hmm, guess so…”

Xilonen's tail returned to its gentle swaying as she relaxed again.

“What the hell did I miss while I was asleep? And I'm not a raccoon!”

The women looked at Lumine. Who was standing in the doorway looking at the two cuddling. Like sleeping for two weeks was just something she does.

“You're up! And why are you so quiet?”

Xilonen asked, starting to get up.

“Oh sorry I don't stomp down the damn halls when waking up at my buddy's house. Anyway, later nerds.”

And just like that, the Traveler walked right out the door and back into Natlan like nothing happened.

“Who's gonna tell her how long it's been?”

“Sure as hell ain't gonna be me any time soon.”

The smith laid herself back down on Mavuika in a way that told the Archon that neither of them were going anywhere for a good long while. The Archon chuckled, returning to gently rubbing the ocelot woman's back and nuzzling into her soft, blonde hair.

Notes:

I forgot about Paimon.
