Chapter Text

“Seung-jun,” he hears. His head is throbbing. He’s awake before his eyes open. “Wake up.” It’s a soft voice, muffled, but he’d be able to recognize it anywhere. His eyes open and he’s met with a stark white ceiling. It’s familiar. His arm reaches out next to him, feeling the bed before he rolls over onto his side and is met with her face. A tired smile immediately forms on his lips. “You slept for so long.”

“Beauty sleep,” he yawns out. His hand finds hers and brings it to his lips as he kisses her knuckles. “Good morning,” he adds.

"You're going to be late.”

“I can be late.”

“You’re setting a bad example.” He closes his eyes and he bites back a groan. His leg slots between hers under the sheets. His hand still grasps hers, their rings touching. He can feel her eyes boring into him.

“Fine,” he mumbles. He reluctantly draws away from her and stops the pained sound that wants to escape his lips when his eyes land on the clock. “Are you getting up soon?” he asks her, standing up and stretching.

“Eventually.”

“I envy you.”

“Because you want to stay in bed longer?”

“Because I want to be with you longer.” Her lips form a smile. He hopes for this to be his in.

“Go to work Seung-jun.” Damn. He makes his way out of their bedroom but not before he goes to her side of the bed and presses a kiss to his forehead.

“You’re cruel,” he murmurs.

“When will you stop being dramatic?”

“When you truly love me.” She lets out a scoff.

“I do love you.” Seung-jun smiles, pleased at the admission.

“Say it again.”

“Leave.”

“Nothing could make me leave you so easily.” He watches her cheeks tinge pink.

“You complain about how busy your schedule is and then make it worse when you leave here late.” She’s got him but he still lets out a heavy sigh as he withdraws from her.

“So very cruel.”

“I love you.”

“Mr. Gustavo?” Seung-jun looks up from a few documents on his desk as someone pops their head into his office. His eyes feel like they weigh twenty pounds.

“Yes?”

“There’s a delivery for you,” they reply, walking into the room with a small bouquet of flowers in hand. He perks up immediately.

“Thank you,” he replies, taking the flowers and setting them carefully on his desk. The person nods before exiting. He eyes the bouquet of forget-me-nots, fidgeting with a pen in his hand. He was leaving work early tonight, cramming in as many things as he could before he had to leave. The lethargic feeling leaves him immediately however as he imagines giving her the flowers. The smile she’ll have. He’s already melting. He catches himself before he gets too lost in thought and clears his throat, continuing his work. The soft crinkle of the plastic as the weight of the flowers continues to settle keeps her face in his mind.

“You’re here,” she says when she spots him after the concert, a smile on her lips. The tedious work he endured paid off. He holds out the bouquet for her and she presses a kiss to his lips. The cool metal of her ring presses against his cheek as she holds his face in her hands.

“You were incredible as always.”

“I thought you had too much piled up to make it.” He did. He still does. He already feels the burning feeling in his back that he’ll go through from sitting all day tomorrow at his desk. And then his eyes focus on her smile and none of that matters anymore.

“I figured it out.” Seung-jun presses a kiss to the top of her head and for a moment, everything fades out of his focus besides her. The chatter around them turns into white noise and then slowly into silence.

“Seung-jun?” He hears her voice. It’s distant. She’s standing in front of him and her lips aren’t moving.

“I won’t let you go that easily.” He’s not sure why that slips out of his lips. The flowers are gone from her grasp. He looks around the two of them, unable to see where they’ve gone.

“Seung-jun.” It’s her voice again, firmer this time. But her mouth still doesn’t move in front of him. Through the silence, a few other sounds begin to poke through. There’s a beeping sound that he can’t quite place the origin of in the room they’re in.

“There will never come a day that anything in the universe can keep me from coming to see you.”

Seung-jun.”

He’s awake before his eyes open. A dull ache settles throughout his muscles. The beeping sound is clearer. The sharp scent of disinfectant burns him. His eyes open and he’s met with a stark white ceiling.

It’s all too familiar.
