When the broom wouldn’t start flying you slapped it, making it speed up immensely which sent you shooting upward.
Everyone around you winced when you nearly crashed into a tree near by, but you quickly dodged it.
“Aim your broom..”
Your sister whispered worriedly and soon everyone heard a quick.
“I’m fine!”
Coming from the distance.
“May she have good luck on her trip.”
Said ren as he gazed off into where you had departed.

The wind picked up as you soared through out the sky with nightshade by your side.
“Where are we gonna go?”
She asked, her voice slightly loud because of the quick winds flying by the both of you.
“South! That’s where the ocean is!”
You yelled back, your broom went over different houses as you kept going toward your destination.
“Nighty, Can you turn on the radio for me? It’s kinda hard to do it myself when you’re occupied flying a broom.”
You joked while referencing the radio hanging off your broom by a small bit of leather attached to it.
“Oh so now I’m a flight attendant?”
Nightshade retorted while she hesitantly crawled into your lap to push the on button on the radio.
The song playing on it started, making both of you jolt for a second and almost making nightshade fall off. You giggled while she groaned and sat on the front of your broom.
Nightshade crawled onto the hand you were currently outstretching to her, again she nearly fell off. Both of your arms went up as you felt the cool wind in your hair.
The very large lake below you glimmered underneath the moon.
You flew past a church near some farms, some roads with cars driving past and even an airplane that flew up above you.
Nightshade was now loafing on your bag again, until she saw another witch near by!
You hadn’t noticed yet, so she pawed at your back until you payed attention.
Once you did, you immediately lit up at the opportunity to possibly make a new friend! And a fellow witch at that!
You flew up beside her, making the girl side eye you momentarily.
She had black hair that went down to her ears and a little bit down her neck, she was wearing a similar dress to you except it was purple instead of black.
“Good evening!”
You chirped and she smiled at you in a way that seemed she was faking politeness.
“It was. you’re a new witch right?”
You nodded, surprised she could tell.
“Uh—- yes! I am, I just left home tonight actually! what’s your name?”
You asked cheerfully. the dark haired girl chuckled.
“Hm? Mai is my name, Mai Zenin if you wish to be formal.”
“Oh okay! I’m [reader] it’s nice to meet you!”
“I’m sure it was.”
Mai replied
“Hey, can you tell me if it’s hard settling into a new city?”
Mai nodded as she kept her head looking forward. Her own cat who wore a purple collar, side eyed nightshade in the same way its owner had looked at you.
“Yes many things can go wrong, but since my talent is fortune telling I’ve never had any problems. Don’t know if I can say the same for you though unfortunately.”
Her passive aggressive remarks didn’t go unnoticed, but you brushed them off.
“What is your skill?”
She asked and you beamed immediately, already knowing the answer.
“My skill is flying!”
You answered, she looked half impressed.
“Interesting. Well whatever, I have somewhere I must be. I’ve recently finished my own training so I’m trying to get home. Now be a dear and stop bothering me, Ciao!”
Her broom zoomed past leaving you behind.
“Gosh she was rude. And so was her cat.”
Commented nightshade once she was fully gone. You sighed and shrugged.
“Some people are just like that nighty, I guess it can’t be helped.”
It didn’t bother you that much. In fact the excitement from being independent and training was too much for you to feel anything other than happiness!
Suddenly—- those thoughts of joy were cut short when a loud clash of thunder erupted and the sky started pouring with rain.
Nightshade and you both squealed as you started flying downward.
“What do we do!? We can’t stay up!!”
You yelled as an arm went to cover your eyes from the rain.
“JUST DON’T PANIC!”
Nightshade screamed, although it seems like she was just trying to reassure herself more than you.
You noticed a train near by and immediately went down toward it.
There was a small opening on the top of one of the trains carts that you immediately flew right into.
Thankfully both of you ended up inside of it, nightshade shook off the remaining water from her fur. The cart seemed to be full of hay, the kind you feed cows or horses.
“Phew, nice landing.”
She said while you shut the opening to keep the storm out.
“We should rest here for the night or at least until the rain stops.”
You suggested, though it was more like a statement, while removing your dress leaving you in only the white tank top and shorts you had underneath.
“We’ll get in trouble, [reader]”
“Not if we don’t get caught!”
Nightshade rolled her eyes
“Ooh! This stuffs nice and warm too!”
As you remarked on the feeling of the hay, night shade looked around cautiously.
“[reader] I get the feeling we’re not the only ones here..”
“Good night, nighty!”
Trains passed by your own, and then suddenly your train started as well, removing itself from its previous dormant state.
Although, you two were already far too deep in sleep to notice.

It was the next morning and suddenly you heard cows coming from below you.
You sat up, albeit groggily, and yawned.
Then you heard another moo and raised an eyebrow. The hay shifted as you dug downward through it and giggled when you saw a bunch of cows feeding off the hay.
“Whoops! Sorry didn’t mean to sleep in your food guys.”
You went back up and quickly Put your dress back on.
“Wake up nightshade! We’re heading out!”
Nightshade got up too, she yawned a bit as you grabbed your bag and peered out the opening you had just opened.
“Wow!”
You exclaimed in complete awe. It seems the train you boarded had taken you to your destination for you.
the ocean was absolutely beautiful, the colour was a sight for sore eyes.
“Big deal. It’s just a puttle of water.”
Nightshade stated monotonously.
“Look a city! I wonder if they have a witch already.”
You said, pointing to your left, it seems the train was heading that way too.
When the train passed a bridge you hopped out of the cart with your broom.
You perched on top of it as the wind sped past.
“Ready.. set.. GO!!”
The broom took off again, your kitty companion hurriedly ran toward you and sat on your broom along side you.
You went off toward the city, your giggles could be heard, night shade gasped at the quickness.
You flew toward the ocean surrounding the city you were headed to.
“You alright back there?”
“Yes..”
She murmured, trying to hold back any vomit that might threaten to come out.
“Woah! This place is just like in the books I’ve read! I’ve always imagined coming somewhere like here..”
You murmured dreamily while gazing at the perfectness of it.
“Hello!”
You waved down at a boat, the salesmen looked at you slack jawed, clearly never they’ve never seen a witch before.
But inevitably they grinned back up at you and waved back.
Seagulls swarmed near a few other boats. Then you noticed a clock tower.
“Wow! This place sure is big, they even have a clock tower. A city like this would be great to live in!”
“But what if there’s a witch already here?”
Inquired nightshade.
“I’m sure we will be able to share. After all this place is huge!”
You pointed your broom upward toward the clock tower.
“Where are we going now?”
Yelled night shade.
“To the clock tower! I bet we can see everything from there!”
The buildings were beautiful, they all seemed detailed and had their own pops of colour that complemented the sea nicely.
You suddenly stumbled upon a cross walk filled to the brim with people and cars, you stopped in our tracks as your broom faltered for a second.
“Gosh, so many cars!”
You kept going on about how amazing the whole place was In complete adoration.
“we better get going!”
You flew down toward a street quickly.
“Woah look a witch! Check that out.”
A passerby yelled and pointed at you. Many people stared at you in shock.
“Woah look they’re looking at us.”
Nightshade said sarcastically as you nudged her.
“I know! Smile so we make a good impression!”
You whispered, trying to find a safe space to land.
“[READER]! BUS!”
Nightshade yelled, you had been looking somewhere else instead of looking forward and noticed a bus driving toward your direction.
You quickly dashed by it and nearly got hit but several other cars as your broom ducked into yet another crowded side walk, everyone made way to avoid getting hit.
You turned a corner to avoid any other cars and sighed in relief.
“Smooth.”
Retorted your cat, you glared at her in embarrassment.
You lowered your broom letting you now land quietly on the footpath.
Red crept up your cheeks when everyone stared at you in confusion. The people surrounding you ran off to avoid whatever disaster you could cause next.
A whistle was heard in the distance when all of a sudden a police officer ran up to you.
“Hey! You got some serious nerve causing all those cars to nearly crash over there flying around on your broom.”
“B-but I’m a witch sir!—- we’re supposed to fly around!”
You said back gripping your broom tighter.
“You’re 𝘚𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥 to obey the law! I’m going to have to write you up.”
The officer retorted while pulling out a note pad and pen.
“Now give me your name and addres—-“
“THEIF! SOMEONE STOLE MY PURSE!”
The distressed voice of a young woman could be heard down the street. The cop immediately turned toward it.
“Stay put! Don’t even think about running away!”
Yelled the officer as he dashed toward the sound of the yelling.
Before you could turn your head toward the yelling yourself and see what was happening, a hand roughly grabbed your forearm and pulled you into a nearby alley.
You squeaked as you were pushed against a stone wall, when you looked up and saw the figure who had done this, you were met with golden eyes.
Upon further inspection, the woman in front of you had dark green hair pulled into a low ponytail, a black turtle neck, grey dress pants, and purple glasses.
You blushed a bit, now nervous, scared, and confused by the pretty stranger standing in front of you.
“Hey.”
The woman in front of you snapped you out of your thoughts.
Her hand remained on the Side of your head pushed against the wall.
“You can’t stay. A witch already lives here, alright? You should book it immediately, now even.”
The stranger said. Your emotions now replaced with frustration at her words.
Who the hell was she to tell you what you can and can’t do? Where you can and can’t stay? You’ve tried so hard to get somewhere like here and now that you have you’ve been almost written up by a police officer, ran over by a bus, rained on, and had to sleep in a train!!
You huffed and pushed her away, more rough than you intended.
“I don’t care! Like hell I’ll listen to some rando! I don’t even know who you are, I’m staying and you can’t do anything about it!”
You exclaimed in a flurry of anger. The green haired girl was about to say something back until you got back on your broom and flew away into the alley.
You turned your head toward her and stuck your tongue out, making her glare even sharper.

“I don’t suppose you have your parents with you?”
Asked the receptionist at the hotel you were attempting to stay at.
“No. I’m a witch in training, I had to leave home and find a city to stay in.”
You tried explaining while the man remained confused.
“Do you have any sort of identification?”
He asked but you sighed. Your expression dropped to one of sadness. You shook your head.
“N-never mind.”
You exited the building. After around thirty minutes of walking you ended up at a park, you sat on some steps made of stone next to a water fountain and stared in front of you with a blank, solemn expression.
“Are you going to eat that?”
Asked nightshade as she pawed at your un-touched sandwich.
“No nightshade, you can have it.”
You replied, when she saw how sad you looked she didn’t go after it.
“Where will we stay tonight?”
You didn’t want to think about that, it was so scary to wonder whether or not you’d have to be homeless. You wanted to go home but coming home after barely trying sounded awful.
A police car drove past which pulled you out of your daydreaming, you wrapped up your sandwich and quickly stood up.
“Let’s go.”
You whispered while nightshade followed behind.
You walked and walked and walked until you went past a bakery that was near a white ledge, you leaned against it and stared at all of the homes below.
“Uh oh—- uhm—- m-ma’am!!”
You heard the voice of a young man behind you. A boy with pink hair walked up beside you and tried waving at a woman who had a stroller walking away,
“You forgot your babies pacifier!”
He yelled waving it In the air in a hopes to get her attention, to no avail of course.
“Poor kid..”
The pink haired man sighed and stared at the pacifier in his hand with a sad expression.
“Oh uhm excuse me? I could go deliver that to the lady over there!”
The pink headed boy lit up at your suggestion and immediately turned toward you with the brightest smile you’ve ever seen.
“Really? That’d be great thank you! I’d run down there myself but I’m kinda in a time crunch and my boss would kill me if I skipped out on anymore work.”
He giggled nervously, clearly not wanting to upset this “boss” he was talking about.
You giggled at his words finding what he’s saying amusing.
“It’s no problem!”
The young man placed the pacifier in your hand.
“Let’s go, Nightshade!”
You exclaimed confidently, you jumped on top of the ledge and placed your broom between your legs, clearly ready to jump off.
“W-what are you doing?—-“
His words were quickly cut off when you hopped off the ledge.
He held his breath, clearly confused.
The boy immediately went to look down to see if you had died or not from such a big fall. His breath was taken away when he saw you glide across the air and toward the woman who the binky belonged to.
“I doubt this has anything to do with us.. [reader]? Alright didn’t think so.”
Nightshade grumbled, while you flew down to the woman pushing her stroller.
“Apologies if I’ve startled you ma’am but I was told you had left this in the bakery you were just in by one of the workers.”
It seemed like you were just in time because the woman’s baby started crying and squealing, perhaps they were teething? You didn’t know a lot about babies.
“Here little guy.”
You giggled and gave the child its pacifier back, they immediately took it and their crying stopped as soon as it was back in their mouth.

Back at the bakery, you were met with a lot of customers and a new worker behind the cashier.
Instead of pink you saw white hair, the same colour was adorned on his lashes and speaking of eyes, they were a beautiful light blue colour, reminiscent of the mid day sky.
“Yes I’d be happy to get that for you sir—- oh hey! Come in and wait a bit I’ll be right with you.”
He said happily and you nodded. He seemed to be as energetic as the pink boy which you were glad about.
You walked in through the door, making sure to step to the side so a woman with a brown bag full of freshly baked loafs could walk through.
You stood by the door as you waited for the remainder of the customers to leave.
When the white haired man stepped out of the counter you noted how tall he was, he went to open the door for the rest of his customers and closed it once they left.
“Yuji told me all about how quickly you flew down, I’ve never seen a witch before so this is pretty cool of you ask me.”
You smiled at his comments and nodded. So Yuji must be the boy you met earlier?
“The lady who I returned the pacifier to told me to give this to you.”
You said politely while handing a folded piece of grey paper to him.
The man in front of you took it and unfolded it, then he read it out loud.
“Thank you for giving me my baby’s pacifier back. Your new delivery girl is very special.”
He smiled widely at that last sentence, you could almost see a lightbulb turning on in his head.
“Well I better get going.”
You were about to leave before you heard his voice speaking out.
“Wait! I should do something to give you my thanks.”
There wasn’t much room for negotiation so you just nodded along, a black haired male was at the counter packing an order for another buyer, he side eyed you both in skepticism before going back to work.
“The bakery is down stairs, upstairs is where I live.”
You both went into the back area of said bakery, you peered into an opening where all of the presumed baking actually happened, then you went upstairs.
It was nice and homey, there was a table in the middle of the room the stairs lead into, some pots and pans hung up on a wall near the stove and a window was in the front of the room, the view was beautiful.
“Take a seat, I’ll make us some hot chocolate.”
You noted a red kettle boiling on the stove, hot chocolate didn’t sound bad right now, considering how long your day has been.
“Thank you.”
The chairs were surprisingly comfortable despite being hard wood. Your hands rested on the table as you waited.
He scooped some chocolate powder into two white mugs, then he poured some boiling water in to balance out the milk already in your cups.
“Here you go, and this is for the little cat you got there.”
He put your cup down in front of you, then a saucer full of milk.
Nightshade, who was previously on your shoulder, jumped down and happily took the milk, she must’ve been pretty hungry.
“Now I might just be assuming things here, but you must be a witch in training, yes?”
He asked, then he took a sip of his drink.
“Yup! Although the people here don’t seem to like witches very much unfortunately.”
“Depends on the people, I just met you and I know I like you!”
He looked down at nightshade and gave her a little wink, making her jolt a bit in confusion before she continued drinking her milk.
“So tell me, where are you two staying?”
You hesitated to answer his question, you blushed slightly in embarrassment.
“Ahh I see how it is then. Why didn’t you tell me you had anywhere to stay? Why have a spare room in the attic! You can use that.”
You immediately stood up, your chair screeched the smallest bit.
“You’d really let me stay with you!?”
You prayed that this man wasn’t playing with your emotions because you’d give anything to have somewhere to sleep tonight.
“Of course! I’m Satoru by the way.”
The man chuckled at your reaction.
“I’m [reader] sir!”
You smiled back at Satoru
“And this is nightshade, she’s my friend.”
Nightshade rolled her eyes.
“Friend? I thought I was your best friend [reader].”
She deadpanned, you ignored her.
![]()
“It’s right up here.”
Satoru said while walking up the stairs and into his attic.
His home had an extra small building attached to the main building. There were stairs outside that lead inside of said attic.
“It’ll need dusting because I haven’t used it in a good long while. It’ll be pretty liveable though!”
You nodded, his backyard was very beautiful. It almost reminded you of home.
He opened the door and walked in.
“Jeez it’s dustier in here than I thought.”
Honestly you didn’t care at all. As long as you had somewhere to stay you’d be fine. You looked around and gazed at the room.
There was some broken furniture in the front left corner, an unused fire place was on the other end, then you saw an old bed near it.
“It’s okay! Thank you so much, Mr. Satoru.”
Satoru shook his head and ruffled your head, reminiscent of a way a father would to his daughter.
“It’s no problem, kid. Also just call me Satoru, formal isn’t really my style.”
A small giggle bubbled out of your throat, You nodded.
“Alright, thank you, Satoru!”
“Give me a shout if you need anything. I’ll be in the main house, Later [reader]!”
Satoru removed his hand from your head and shoved both of them into his pockets. Then he walked off and down the stares.
He had given you some spare towels and blankets that were folded neatly under your arm.
Once he left fully, you looked toward the entirety of the room.
Despite how gloomy it looked you felt happy, something was better than nothing right?
