Chapter Text

The Place You Belong, The Name You Keep

The house was too big for one person.

Shotaro realized that the moment he stepped inside.

It wasn’t just large—it was structured, deliberate, almost overwhelming in the way everything had its place before anyone even lived in it.

High ceilings. Quiet halls. Soft lighting that never felt accidental.

And people.

Staff.

More than he expected.

They stood in a neat line near the entrance, dressed formally, composed, waiting.

Shotaro froze slightly.

“…Sung Chan,” he whispered, leaning closer, “why are they all looking at me?”

Sung Chan didn’t answer immediately.

Because to him—

this was already decided.

He stepped forward.

Shotaro followed, still unsure.

And then Sung Chan spoke.

“From today onward,” he said calmly, voice carrying through the hall, “Osaki Shotaro has full authority in this house.”

The staff lowered their heads slightly.

Silent acknowledgment.

Shotaro blinked.

“…Wait.”

Sung Chan continued.

“His words are mine. His decisions are mine. If there is any failure to follow his instructions—”

A pause.

Then—

“You will leave immediately.”

No raised voice.

No threat in tone.

But final.

Absolute.

Shotaro turned to him, eyes widening slightly.

“…That’s too much.”

Sung Chan looked at him.

“No.”

“It is,” Shotaro insisted softly. “They work for you.”

“They work for this house.”

“And you’re part of it now,” Sung Chan added.

Shotaro’s breath caught slightly.

“…That still doesn’t mean they should listen to me like that.”

Sung Chan stepped closer.

Lowered his voice.

“It does.”

Shotaro hesitated.

“…Why?”

Sung Chan’s gaze didn’t waver.

“Because I do.”

Silence.

Shotaro looked at him—

and felt it again.

That weight.

That certainty.

That quiet, unwavering decision that had been there from the beginning.

Days passed.

And Shotaro slowly began to understand what living in Sung Chan’s world truly meant.

Everything responded.

Everything adjusted.

If he asked for something, it was done.

If he hesitated, someone waited.

If he smiled, the atmosphere softened.

At first, it made him uncomfortable.

“…You don’t have to be so formal,” he told one of the house staff gently.

They bowed slightly.

“Yes, sir.”

Shotaro sighed.

“…You can just call me Shotaro.”

A pause.

They hesitated.

Then nodded.

“Yes… Shotaro.”

Small change.

But it mattered to him.

Sung Chan watched all of it.

Quietly.

Observing.

The way Shotaro treated people.

The way people slowly softened around him.

The way the house—once silent—began to feel… warmer.

And Sung Chan realized something he had not planned for.

Shotaro wasn’t just adapting to his world.

He was changing it.

The wedding came sooner than Shotaro expected.

Not rushed.

But inevitable.

Prepared long before emotions caught up.

The ceremony was private.

Elegant.

Every detail precise.

But Shotaro barely noticed most of it.

Because his focus—

was Sung Chan.

Standing across from him.

Dressed in black.

Composed.

But different.

Because today—

Sung Chan was not just a man of control.

He was someone standing in front of the only person who had ever changed him.

Shotaro’s hands were slightly cold.

His heartbeat uneven.

“…I’m nervous,” he whispered.

Sung Chan heard him.

Of course he did.

He stepped closer.

Took his hand.

Held it firmly.

“You will be fine.”

Shotaro smiled faintly.

“…That’s because you’re here.”

“Yes.”

The vows were simple.

No long speeches.

No dramatic declarations.

Because neither of them needed that.

When it was Sung Chan’s turn, he looked at Shotaro.

Not at the audience.

Not at the ceremony.

Only him.

“I will not let you be alone,” he said.

Simple.

Direct.

But absolute.

Shotaro’s eyes softened.

When it was his turn, he hesitated.

Then smiled gently.

“…Then I’ll stay.”

That was enough.

The rings were exchanged.

Hands steady.

Eyes locked.

And when it was done—

nothing felt louder than the quiet between them.

Because everything had already been said.

That night—

the world was far away.

No staff.

No expectations.

No roles.

Just them.

The room was dim.

Soft light.

Quiet.

Shotaro stood near the window, still in partial formal wear, staring out at the city.

“…It feels unreal,” he said softly.

Sung Chan approached slowly from behind.

“It is real.”

Shotaro smiled faintly.

“…I know.”

A pause.

Then—

“…But I didn’t expect to feel like this.”

Sung Chan stopped behind him.

Close.

“Like what.”

Shotaro hesitated.

“…Like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.”

Silence.

Then Sung Chan’s hand moved—

resting lightly at his waist.

Pulling him back slightly.

Shotaro didn’t resist.

Didn’t hesitate.

He leaned back into him naturally.

“…You’re doing that again,” Shotaro murmured.

“Doing what.”

“Holding me like I won’t leave.”

Sung Chan’s voice lowered.

“You won’t.”

Shotaro turned slightly.

Looked at him.

“…You’re very confident.”

“Yes.”

Shotaro laughed softly.

“…You always were.”

Their closeness deepened.

Not rushed.

Not intense.

Just… natural.

Sung Chan’s hand moved gently along Shotaro’s back, slower than before, more aware now, more controlled in a different way.

Not possession.

Care.

Shotaro’s fingers rested against Sung Chan’s chest, feeling his heartbeat.

Steady.

Grounding.

“…You feel calm,” Shotaro said quietly.

“I am.”

“…Why?”

Sung Chan looked at him.

Longer this time.

Because this—

this answer mattered.

“I have you.”

Shotaro’s breath softened.

“…That’s all it takes?”

“Yes.”

They leaned closer.

Foreheads touching briefly.

Then lips.

Slow.

Warm.

Not urgent.

Not overwhelming.

Just… certain.

Their hands found each other again.

Fingers intertwined.

Bodies close.

Moving together without needing direction.

Shotaro didn’t feel shy this time.

Didn’t pull away.

Because now—

he understood.

This wasn’t something to be afraid of.

This was something he wanted.

Later—

when the room settled into quiet again—

Shotaro lay beside him, breathing softly, eyes half-closed.

“…Sung Chan.”

“Yes.”

“…When did you start loving me?”

Silence.

Not hesitation.

Memory.

Sung Chan looked at him.

Then said quietly:

“The first time I saw you.”

Shotaro blinked.

“…That fast?”

“Yes.”

“…That’s not normal.”

“I know.”

Shotaro smiled faintly.

“…What made you so sure?”

Sung Chan’s gaze softened.

Rare.

Real.

“You did not look at me like everyone else.”

Shotaro tilted his head slightly.

“…How did I look at you?”

Sung Chan answered without pause.

“Like I was just a person.”

Shotaro’s chest tightened.

“…You liked that?”

“Yes.”

“…That’s all it took?”

Sung Chan shook his head slightly.

“No.”l

A pause.

Then—

“I wanted to keep it.”

Shotaro’s breath caught.

“…Keep what?”

Sung Chan reached out, brushing his fingers lightly against Shotaro’s cheek.

“This.”

Shotaro closed his eyes briefly.

Then opened them again.

“…You’re really unfair.”

“Yes.”

Shotaro laughed softly.

“…Then I guess it’s my turn.”

Sung Chan watched him.

Waiting.

Shotaro shifted slightly closer.

Resting his head lightly against Sung Chan’s shoulder.

“…I don’t know when it started,” he admitted quietly.

“But somewhere between you watching me…”

He paused.

“…and you never letting me fall…”

His voice softened.

“…I fell first.”

Sung Chan’s hand tightened slightly around him.

“…No,” he said quietly.

“I did.”

Shotaro smiled.

“…Then you fell harder.”

Sung Chan didn’t deny it.

Because it was true.

Silence settled again.

But it wasn’t empty.

It was full.

Complete.

Shotaro’s breathing slowed.

His body relaxing completely now.

And without realizing it—

his hand moved again.

Finding Sung Chan’s.

Holding it.

Like before.

Natural.

Unconscious.

Certain.

And Sung Chan stayed.

Just like he always had.

Just like he always would.

Because from the moment he saw him—

there had never been another choice.

And now—

there never would be.
