Chapter Text
namjoon didn't believe in soul mates, but when his boyfriend said "I believe there's a perfect person for you, some where out there," namjoon had gently hugged jin tighter and said "I already found my perfect person." namjoon had been dating the love of his life for 5 years. some of his friends has asked them why they haven't already gotten married, in which namjoon quickly said "if it was legal for us to get married I would've asked him to marry me the first year we started dating." they've been through a lot. they graduated university, they moved in together, supported each other before job interviews, traveled across the country and more. namjoon wouldn't trade it in for anything in the world. his life was great.
it was the 5th of april when they were on their way to the airport. namjoon had planned a surprise trip for them both to go to canada. jin had once joked that he would like to eat everything at tim hortons so namjoon said "let's go to canada then," jin had playfully shoved namjoon away laughing "yeah that would be the dream huh?" two years later they were off to canada. "I still can't believe you went behind my back and bought us tickets, namjoon what the hell?" namjoon just laughed and shrugged "I got a promotion at work and we both had vacation days, so why not," "you're crazy," jin said and namjoon leaned in to gently kiss his boyfriend "crazy in love," making jin laugh.
after they arrived the hotel jin was tired so he decided to take a nap, namjoon said he would get them something to eat. namjoon knew exactly where he was going, he saw a tim hortons down the block and he was on a mission. it's was roughly 9 pm so luckily there weren't that many people in line. he grabbed a tray and placed one of each donuts they had left, when he was ready to pay the cashier smiled "you must really like our donuts" making namjoon smile back "actually it's our first time trying, my boyfriend always wanted to try everything you had," the cashier nodded "ah, well you should tell him to come by before 12 pm, everything is more fresh then." it was nice to be able to say that jin was his boyfriend without getting weird looks. as she finished packing up the donuts after namjoon paid and said "I'll tell him that, thank you."
jin was still sleeping when namjoon came back to the hotel room. namjoon tried to be as quiet as possible, but when he dropped his phone and said a soft "shit," he could see jin stir in his sleep "joonie?" "yeah, sorry I woke you up, go back to sleep." jin sat up in bed and rubbed his eyes "it's okay, I'm hungry anyways," namjoon smiled "perfect, I have donuts." jin walked towards his boyfriend and rested his chin on the younger boys shoulder "did you seriously get all the flavors they had?" namjoon nodded "yep, oh and the cashier told me to tell you that you should go there before noon if you want fresh ones," "well now I know what I'm eating for breakfast tomorrow," jin turned his head to kiss the crook of namjoons neck.
after they both were full on donuts namjoon suggested for them to take a walk, to digest everything, "I'm too full to walk joonie," jin had whined, namjoon smiled before answering "I'll carry you on my back if necessary." they were in the park, holding hands, as cheesy as it sounds namjoon loved it. after walking around the park they finally sat down on a bench. namjoon had his arm around jin who leaned to rest his head on his shoulder. they sat there in comfortable silence before namjoon broke it "we should get married." jin forgot to breathe for a moment before looking at his boyfriend "what?" namjoon didn't look at him and repeated "we've been together for what, 5 years? I think we should get married," he turned his head to look at jin smiling "I want to spend the rest of my life with you jin." namjoon could tell jin was speechless so he continued "I know we can't get married legally in korea. but we can get married here, and when we get back we can have a small ceremony."
it wasn't like they never talked about getting married, but jin was in shook as he stood up raking his shaky hand through his hair. he took a deep breathe before turning around to see namjoon on his knees "namjoon, what-" namjoon interrupted him by taking out a ring box from his coat pocket, making jin gasp "jin, I love you with all my heart. I can't imagine a day without you in my life. you make me so happy," he opened the ring box revealing an engagement band "so will you make me even happier and marry me?" jin was crying now, not trusting his voice he simply nodded making namjoon smile and stand up. he reached for jins hand that was trembling and slid the engagement band on his finger. jin kept staring at the ring when namjoon gently cupped the sides of his face making him look at him. jin was still crying so namjoon wiped away his tears whispering "stop crying, you're going to make me cry too." he leaned in to kiss his boyfriend and when he was going to pull away jin squeezed the sides of namjoons waist pulling him back in "kiss me more." namjoon didn't need to be told twice and smiled before leaning in to kiss his boyfriend more passionately.
"I love you," jin said
"I love you," namjoon repeated
