Chapter Text

Dating Kong changed Thomas in the most humiliating way possible.

Not to everyone else.

To everyone else, Thomas was still intimidating still sharp-tongued, possessive, and impossible to approach when he was in a bad mood. The staff still got nervous around him. Other alphas still lowered their voices when Thomas walked into a room.

But Kong?

Kong got the version of Thomas nobody else had ever seen.

The soft version.

The pathetic version, honestly.

“You’re staring again,” Kong mumbled one afternoon, barely looking up from his phone.

Thomas was lying across the practice room couch with Kong tucked against his chest while the others practiced nearby.

“I’m literally your boyfriend,” Thomas replied. “I’m allowed to stare.”

“You stare like you’re about to cry.”

“That’s because you’re cute.”

Kong snorted loudly.

The members nearby immediately gagged in disgust.

“Oh my god,” one of them complained. “Can you two act normal for ONE day?”

Thomas didn’t even look away from Kong. “No.”

Kong burst into laughter against his shoulder.

Thomas immediately smiled without meaning to.

The room went silent.

“See?” another member pointed accusingly. “That! He never smiles like that with us!”

“Because I don’t like you people,” Thomas answered flatly.

Kong laughed harder.

Thomas looked down at him immediately, eyes softening again.

Disgusting.

Actually disgusting.

Even Thomas knew it.

The worst part was that he couldn’t stop.

Not when Kong unconsciously reached for him every few minutes.
Not when the omega kept stealing his hoodies because “they smell comforting.”
Not when Kong sleepily climbed into his lap during breaks like he belonged there.

Which he did.

Obviously.

“You’re clingier than me,” Kong mumbled one night while Thomas wrapped his arms around him from behind.

“You say that like it’s a bad thing.”

“You followed me to the kitchen because I got water.”

“What if you got kidnapped?”

“We live together.”

Thomas kissed the side of his head. “Still dangerous.”

Kong smiled fondly. “You’re ridiculous.”

“For you? Always.”

Kong turned red instantly.

Thomas looked unbearably pleased with himself.

Honestly, the alpha had become shameless after they started dating.

He kissed Kong whenever he wanted.
Held his hand constantly.
Growled if another alpha stood too close.

And Kong

Traitor that he was

Loved every second of it.

“Thomas,” Kong whispered one day during rehearsal break, tugging lightly on his sleeve.

“Hm?”

“I want attention.”

Thomas immediately turned away from the conversation he was having.

The members groaned loudly.

“You see what I mean?!” someone cried. “He only listens to Kong!”

“Correct,” Thomas answered without shame.

Kong grinned victoriously before climbing into Thomas’s lap right there in front of everyone.

Thomas held him automatically.

Like instinct.

Like breathing.

The omega immediately buried his face into Thomas’s neck, completely relaxed.

“You smell nice,” Kong mumbled sleepily.

Thomas melted instantly.

Actually melted.

The members stared in horror as their terrifying alpha practically turned into mush on the couch.

“This is sick,” one of them whispered.

“I miss when Thomas was scary.”

“I’m still scary,” Thomas muttered while rubbing Kong’s back gently.

“You’re literally petting him.”

Thomas looked down at Kong fondly. “And?”

Nobody could argue with that.

Not when Thomas looked at Kong like the omega hung every star in the sky.

But the possessiveness came with the softness too.

Which became a problem during one schedule.

Thomas was already irritated that day, long rehearsals, too many people, too many alphas around Kong.

Then he saw one of the backup dancers touching Kong’s waist while laughing at something he said.

Thomas stopped walking immediately.

The air shifted.

Every alpha nearby felt it first.

Dominant pheromones flooding the hallway sharp and territorial.

Kong looked up instantly.

And immediately sighed.

“Thomas.”

The alpha walked over slowly.

Too calmly.

Which was always worse.

The backup dancer stepped away awkwardly the second Thomas stopped beside Kong.

“Hi,” Kong said carefully.

Thomas stared at him. “Why was he touching you?”

“He moved me out of the way because someone was carrying equipment.”

Thomas looked unconvinced.

Kong tried not to smile.

“You’re jealous again.”

“I’m not jealous.”

“You released pheromones into the hallway.”

“He touched your waist.”

“He literally has a girlfriend.”

Thomas crossed his arms. “That doesn’t mean I have to like it.”

The omega finally laughed softly before stepping closer and grabbing the front of Thomas’s hoodie.

Immediately the alpha relaxed.

Unbelievable.

“You’re impossible,” Kong whispered affectionately.

Thomas looked down at him quietly for a moment before muttering,

“You’re mine.”

The possessiveness in his voice should not have sounded that attractive.

Judging by Kong’s flushed face, it definitely did.

“Okay,” Kong said softly.

Thomas blinked. “Okay?”

“Yeah.” Kong smiled lazily. “I’m yours.”

The alpha went completely still.

Then slowly leaned down until their foreheads touched.

“You can’t say things like that so casually,” Thomas muttered weakly.

“But it’s true.”

Thomas kissed him before Kong could say anything else.

Not caring that they were still backstage.
Not caring that people were watching.

One hand settled on Kong’s waist possessively while the other tilted his chin up gently.

Kong kissed him back immediately, smiling against his lips when Thomas pulled him even closer.

The members watching nearby looked traumatized.

“Can you people GET A ROOM?!” someone yelled.

Thomas pulled away just enough to answer:

“No.”

—

Later that night, Kong fell asleep on Thomas first.

It wasn’t planned.

They were in the practice room, everyone exhausted, lights dimmed low, and Kong had just leaned against him for “a second.”

That second turned into full sleep.

Head on Thomas’s shoulder.
Hand loosely holding his sleeve.

Thomas didn’t move the entire time.

Not once.

When someone tried to wake Kong up, Thomas immediately lifted a hand.

“Don’t.”

The room went silent.

“I’ll carry him,” he added.

And he did.

Carefully.

Like Kong was something fragile and important and entirely his responsibility.

Kong woke up halfway through being carried.

“…Thomas?”

“Sleep.”

“You’re carrying me.”

“Yes.”

Kong smiled faintly. “Okay.”

And went right back to sleep.

—

It was only later, when they were finally alone, that Kong fully realized it.

Thomas had placed him down gently on the couch, then immediately sat beside him and pulled him close again without even asking.

Kong blinked up at him. “You always do that.”

“Do what?”

“Hold me like I’ll disappear.”

Thomas was quiet for a moment.

Then, softer than usual:

“You almost did once.”

Kong went still.

That was the day after his heat.

The day Thomas nearly lost control but didn’t.

The omega shifted closer immediately, resting his head against Thomas’s chest.

“I’m not going anywhere,” he said quietly.

Thomas tightened his arms around him instantly.

“Good.”

A pause.

Then Kong, softly teasing again:

“You’d be unbearable without me.”

Thomas didn’t hesitate.

“I already am.”

Kong laughed into his chest.

And Thomas thought, not for the first time, that this was the only kind of life he wanted.

Soft.

Messy.

Kong.
