Chapter Text
Breakfast had rolled around for the seven kids who were incarcerated in the facility by the order of King Kat. Millie was the first person awake due to the lack of sleep she had to endure because of the toxic anger towards her big brother, and she had been awake for some time. Millie slowly lifted herself up from her bed, taking a stretch before jumping off and walking barefoot to check on her older brother, Coop. She gently opened the door to see her brother sleeping with a thin blanket over his body, and Millie started recalling the moment she had scolded him yesterday because of her 'misunderstanding.'
Millie started wondering if she had done the right thing by scolding her brother for what had happened in Bootsville: the death of her classmates, the death of Old Lady Munson, and the death of their father, who had died in front of her very eyes. Millie closed the door slowly, walked to the room where the stacks of canned food were displayed in the corner of the floor, and she sighed, telling herself, "Now it's just cans of food that we'll be eating until we can get some refills in the near future." Millie entered the room and went down on her knees onto the uncomfortable cold metal floor. She looked at the types of canned food displayed in front of her and found a can of peaches and another can of corned beef that she decided to eat for breakfast. Millie stood up and made her way to the table to place down the canned peaches and corned beef. She started looking around for a knife or some kind of can opener to open the cans.
The only thing Millie found was a small pocket knife on the ground. She sighed in annoyance, saying to herself, "Seriously. But whatever." Millie picked up the pocket knife and made her way back to the two cans of food that she had collected. Millie started stabbing the top of the peach can, successfully opening it without damaging herself, and she did the same to the can of corned beef. She successfully opened that can and grabbed a silver spoon to start eating. As Millie thought that she would have some space and peace to eat alone, she heard a voice coming from the door.
"Millie?"
Millie turned around to see Fiona Munson, her brother's ex-girlfriend. The two unfortunately didn't get along due to her memory loss, and Fiona asked Millie, "What are you doing here?" Millie answered Fiona's question by saying, "Hee-hee, I'm here to eat some breakfast. Thanks for asking." Fiona smiled; she approached Millie and asked her, "How's Coop? Even after he claimed that Kat is an evil alien." Millie sighed, responding to Fiona's question, "Well, I blamed him for stopping the fight with King Kat, but he made some dumb excuse." Fiona could understand that; she had been avoiding Coop because she thought he was 'crazy' and 'mentally insane.' Even after he had proven himself to everyone, she was still struggling with multiple questions, and she started unclipping the pieces. "Oh, well... the truth is out; he was right in everyone's eyes, and thinking about it now makes me wonder if I had just heard him out in the first place, maybe everyone would have been okay or something. But I heard that he gave up because everyone, yourself included, didn't believe him about everything, and he decided to give up entirely, including Dennis." Fiona explained. She also started wondering about the whole thing and questioned whether she had made the right choice in denying Coop's explanation about Kat.
"It's his fault!" Millie started venting to Fiona as she threw the pocket knife down onto the ground. The sharp blade hit the metal floor, causing a hole to form. "If he hadn't stopped fighting Mr. Kat in the first place, then daddy would have been okay, and everyone would have been alive like daddy would have been. I just... want King Kat defeated. Now, thanks to King Kat, everyone has died. Thanks to Coop, daddy is dead, Mrs. Munson is dead, and everything is ruined now! It's Coop's fault!" Millie stomped her bare foot hard onto the metal floor, and she just wanted everything to go back to normal.
“Millie, I understand where you're coming from..." Fiona started explaining her side of Millie's opinion. "But haven't you ever considered wondering why this invasion happened in the first place?" Fiona tried to restate Millie's problem. Millie looked at Fiona and asked, "Who?"
"King Kat caused the invasion to happen," Fiona stated. "He caused everyone to die, including my auntie Munson and your father. Why are you blaming Coop for it? Was he in Kat's shoes when he killed everyone? How did Coop kill your father? Did he emotionally hurt him like that, or what is it? Ruined it?" Millie wasn't sure how to answer that question; she just laid her head down while standing up and said, "Both.”
