Chapter 2: Art

In the spirit of Mermay, wanted to post some of the art I did for this fic! It's supposed to illustrate a world building detail that I haven't elaborated on much yet. The basic idea is that (most) mer babies are born dull and matte colored scales, usually brown, grey, or black. As they begin to mature, their "adult colors" slowly start to creep in. Once the mature colors are in, the scales will also be glossier in general.

Important note is that the advent of the mature colors doesn't necessarily mean physical maturity. The speed at which they manifest can depend on genetics, environment, stress etc.

Yay! First fic of 2026!

Now why was Tim with Clark all day? Dick was having a brotherly bonding hunt with Jay, too dangerous to take babies along, and Bruce was... take your pick:

- Having a day to himself
- Having a fight or something too dangerous for babies
- booty call (Maybe Dami was being made idk)
- other unspecified activity he did not want his kids around for

I do plan on doing more for this 'verse when I can, maybe Dick or Jay's acquisition? Or Bruce and Clark's first meeting? idk

My challenge to you, dear reader, is to go online and look up videos of seals and/or sea lions. It’s cheap, easy, and yields great personal rewards.
