Chapter Text

Luna was actually going to go insane. Her plan had worked, of course. She could tell.

Ami was snapping at Amadeus at any given provocation. Biting like the wild animal of her name, lashing out simply because he was near. She felt a little bad for Amadeus, he was an unwitting victim, but it was a worthy sacrifice. Or it would have been, if Ami would just pluck up and fucking kiss her already!!

Ami was also being extra protective of her. Not stifling in combat, she trusted Seol to take care of herself, that was clear, but constantly hovering nearby. Ruthlessly dispatching whatever enemy had the misfortune of crossing Luna, flowing effortlessly in and out of combat, turning the pair into a formidable force. The trust in her while still wanting to protect her? So hot

She was coming to Luna for healing a lot recently. Not anything serious, thankfully. But any minor nick, cut or bruise found Ami at her side. She was obviously more than happy to heal her, the close contact as exciting to her as the prospect clearly was to the Kumiho, but a sharp contrast to the withdrawn, cold exterior of the Ami Han she had first met.

Ami hadn’t failed to make sure she was rested, fed, hydrated, whatever she needed, Ami was prepared to give. Not only willing but ready without asking. The princess treatment. Seol thought that if she asked Ami to lay in a puddle so she could walk over her, she would do it without a second thought.

So yeah, Luna knew it worked. Ami was head over heels for her. Which made it all the more frustrating that Ami, always straightforward and confident, could not seem to confess. At first she had thought it was because she didn’t know if she liked girls. Easily remedied. Seol had brought up an old ex-girlfriend of hers casually in conversation. Made it clear that she wasn’t saying girlfriend in the “girl comma friend” sense but the “no, we made out, romantically” sense. And she knows she understood because Ami clarified that she was a lesbian after.

You know what? Fuck it. She was already the best girlfriend Luna had ever had, and they weren’t even dating yet. If Ami won’t tell her, then I guess she’ll just have to do this herself

“Hey, Ami!” Seol sidled up to the Kumiho, “Got a minute?”

Ami’s face upturned slightly, a smile ghosting her face, imperceptible to any. But not to her. “Always. How can I help?”

Luna had a devious grin as she responded. “I could use some relationship advice.” Ami nodded, frowning slightly. A frown that could probably be caught by anyone, which probably meant she was going through the seven stages of grief. Good.

She barreled ahead, feigning unawareness of the reaction she drew. “So, I want to ask Amadeus out, but… I’m not sure how to do that. What would you say?”

“First of all. Raise your standards. Cho still acts like a child. You can do better.” She looked at her seriously, voice calm and even, even despite the anger flaring in her eyes. “But, hypothetically.” She turned to Seol, standing in front of her. Luna could not keep her eyes from drifting all over the ethereal beauty in front of her, dressed smartly in a teal suit that hugged her curves in all the right ways, three tails moving idly behind her.

“I would be direct. Get in close-” Ami stepped in. Luna’s breath caught in her throat and heat rose to her cheeks. Look at what you’re doing to me, you idiot. “Make contact. Nothing serious just-” Her hand settled on Seol’s hip. God.Amadeus-” Her voice dripped with resentment, disgust filling her throat like a clogged pipe threatening to blow. “I like you. Would you like to go out with me?”

“I’d love to. I’ve been waiting for you to ask.” Luna responded, pleading with any higher power that she would finally get it. “Yeah, I can’t see him saying exactly that but that’s the idea.” Ami stepped back. “Of course, you’re you. Anything you could say or do would do the trick.” She pushed down her feelings. “You’ve got this.” She gave a thumbs up, trying to be encouraging.

Luna mentally facepalmed. Oh my god, how is she this dense? “Ok I think I get it. Can I confess to you, just to be sure?” The other woman nodded stoically, trying and failing to keep her emotions schooled. She loves how devoted Ami is, really, but she wishes she was a little bit more selfish. Like just a little.

She closed in. “Ami Han.” Seol rested her arms around Ami’s neck. Remember this? Take the hint, take the hint, take the hint! “I really, really like you. And I know you like me too. Go on a date with me?” She gulped. “Yeah, that was good. If he says no he’s an idiot. Well he is anyway, but even more so.”

Luna screamed. Out loud. “For fucks sake, Ami!” She wrapped her hands in the lapels of her suit and tugged Ami towards her. She aggressively kissed her, pulling her impossibly close. 1, 2, 3. No response. Fuck, maybe I really did read this wrong. Luna started to pull away.

An arm shot out around her waist, locking her in place. Like a ray of sunshine breaking through the clouds, the end of a work shift, or that first hit of a joint after a long day, Ami finally returned the kiss, and all was right in the world.

Ami was a raging inferno against Luna’s sharp frost. Their lips locked, Ami’s fangs grazing her lower lip. Needily, hungrily, the buildup of weeks of intentionally created tension was released. The world melted away and Seol melted into her, unwilling, unable to leave her embrace. Ami’s other arm hand had come to rest in the small of her back.

“OH MY GOD! FINALLY!” Distantly, she registered Cindy’s voice in the vicinity, but could not bring herself to care. “Sorry, leaving now! Woo, let’s go lesbians!...Ugh, I should text Fel.” That drew a small chuckle out of her. She pulled back, catching her breath, resting her head on Ami’s shoulder.

“Not that I am not… pleased with this development… but what about Amadeus?” Luna sighed into her shoulder. “Trying to make you jealous.” Ami leaned in, lips brushing against her ear. “It worked.” “I know.” She responded insistently, lightly hitting her in the chest. “So what, you were just gonna let me date Amadeus? Ew! Also for the record, I only did it with him because I knew he liked me and I would’ve felt bad manipulating Lin.”

Ami shook her head. “No. He would’ve gone missing. Mysterious circumstances. He probably went to space or something. It happens.” Luna laughed harder, getting serious once more. “But you wouldn’t have confessed.”

She paused. “No. I told myself I could live with it if you found someone else. Someone better than him.”

“Could you have?” She growled. “No. They don’t deserve you. No one does.” Seol feigned shock. “No one?” She began to push off Ami, separating slowly, reluctantly. “Well then I guess I should just-”

Ami kept her locked in place, kissing her again, softly but claiming, short yet filled with everything she didn’t know how to say. “Are you trying to piss me off?” She asked, almost indignantly. Luna smiled. “I mean it took some time, but it’s pretty hard to argue with the results. Might be worth it.”

The Kumiho rolled her eyes. “Seol Hee, will you go on a date with me? Say no and I’m sending Amadeus to Sakaar.” She giggled. “Well, I think the boy has suffered enough. Ami Han, I am crazy about you and I have been dreaming of this for months. Yes, I will go on a date with you.”
