Oh, Ye Gods!

Chapter Text

The next morning, Bob realized he had left his moisturizer in Cecil’s room from the previous day when he had asked to borrow it. Now Bob knew why. Obviously he wanted to look good for Mel. Why had Bob not realized this sooner?

“Pathetic. Utterly, utterly pathetic,” he thought before stepping on a rake in front of the door to Cecil’s room.

“Eeuuhhueur,” he groaned before forcefully grabbing the rake and throwing it away from the door. Bob burst into the room, only to find that Mel was still with Cecil at the house.

IN HIS BED.

Bob slammed the door after seeing his brother making out with his oldest friend. Cecil abruptly came rushing out of the room in his bathrobe.

“Bob! No one told you that you could come bursting into my bedroom!”

“No one told you that you could place a rake in front of your door! I simply wanted my moisturizer back!”

“Fine, fine, I’ll go get it.” Bob grabbed Cecil’s arm firmly before he could open the door.

”Cecil, I remember when you were the talk of the town, you know.” Cecil froze.

“Whatever do you mean?”

“Those rumors were true, weren’t they? I thought you were just coming home drunk because you were, well, going through things. But you were dating that bartender, weren’t you?” Cecil said nothing, and Bob sighed.

“I should have known,” Bob continued, “that you were in the closet this whole time!”

“I never felt the need to tell you such things, Bob,” Cecil said, becoming visibly annoyed.

“Cecil…you are a sick, sick man—“

“BOB! How DARE you? I’m not the one who’s spent years trying to murder a child! Not to mention Krusty, your first wife, the entire town of Springfield—”

“I had good reasons! YOU have somehow decided it’s appropriate to date a broken, pathetic, bone-wearing, half-naked, Shakespearean MAN!”

“You…say that as if you were never friends with Mel.“

“It isn’t that I don’t like him. I am simply indifferent.“

“Well, maybe you’ve never truly felt love like I have towards him,” Cecil realized.

“Never truly felt love? Well, I will have you know that I have been referred to as the world’s greatest lover!”

“By whom? Yourself?”

“Cecil, get ahold of yourself! Look. What I’m trying to say is you have no need to be doting on Mel!”

“Oh, please. You act as if his life doesn’t matter!“ Cecil’s eyes widened. “Oh, dear. Have I given you an idea?“ He paused briefly. Bob was frozen in shock of the audacity that had just come out of his brother’s mouth. “I must get ready for work now!” Cecil blurted before he went back into his room to get dressed.

“Uh—! Don’t forget my moisturizer!” Bob’s voice trailed off at the end of his sentence, realizing his attempt to get through to Cecil was futile. He heard muffled speaking from behind the door.

“Ah, my sweet, sweet Cecil has returned! Your lips taste like the nectar of the gods!” Bob cringed at Mel’s voice before hearing the two of them kiss again and deciding to leave.

When Cecil stepped out of the door, to Bob’s surprise, Mel trailed behind him in a business suit.

“Bob, I am bringing Mel to work today. And the next day. And the day after that. He does need a fresh start after all, and I thought the job would suit him well. If you can’t handle him working with us, I might just have to fire you,” Cecil confidently said.

“Well, I suppose I deserve it,” Bob reacted defeatedly. “And perhaps you two should spend more time alone.” He smirked at the end of his sentence.

“Bob, are you telling me you quit?” Cecil questioned.

“Yes!”

“Oh. Well, that was unsatisfying.” Bob began laughing maniacally until Cecil abruptly cleared his throat. “Farewell, brother.”

“And to you both,” Bob said, accepting his fate.

“Farewell, Bob, ” Mel said, bowing dramatically.

Bob watched as his brother and his new lover left the house, closing the door on their complicated pasts, and stepping out into a new beginning.

THE END.
