Chapter Text
Luckily —or unfortunately— for Dr. Beanies, Steven never took that long whenever he went away to “punish” his cheater-friend.
And it’s not like they talked that much either, they had already talked enough when he first came here. —Which was already some time ago, but since he doesn’t know how to count without a clock, he already lost track regarding that topic.—
But every time Steven came back, he would throw himself onto Dr. Beanies, and the doctor would return the hug as if he had come back “very tired” from a “long day at work.”
Sometimes Steven would talk about how frustrated he always was for strange reasons he didn’t understand… But even so, he tried to understand him so he wouldn’t just sit there like an idiot.
The bad thing was that once his anger or exhaustion faded away, he immediately started bothering the doctor again or simply mocking his current state.
And that always led to a wave of insults and arguments for a loooong while until they got tired and made peace again.
Their relationship was… somewhat peculiar, but at least thanks to that, Dr. Beanies didn’t descend into madness.
—So… What’s it like being like this? —asked the doctor while half-crouching toward one of the faces on the floor.
And obviously, no response.
—Seriously, are all of you mute!? If I had my tools right now I’d make some kind of device so you could speak! It can’t be that the only person I have is Steven… Even though technically you all are him too… Aaaah…
Even so, adapting to this environment was going to be difficult, seeing and hearing only one single person for already… Days, weeks, months? He didn’t even know how long he had already been here, the point was that he truly wished he could talk to someone other than Steven.
—Helloooo!
—Ah! —Steven appeared again, but this time he jumped onto the poor old man’s back while hugging him in an oddly “affectionate” way.— Hello…
—Talking to yourself again? Old age is really getting to you…!
The fact he immediately started with the teasing meant he was in a good mood.
—Yeah, yeah… At least it preserves some of my sanity… —answered Dr. Beanies without looking at him.
—Ooh? Are you mad at me…? —Steven made an exaggerated sad face.— Did Steven do something wrong? Tell me and I’ll punish him immediately!
—You’re annoying.
—It’s my job :)
—I hate you.
—And I hate you more. —He loosened his grip to make it more comfortable while lightly moving his hands around Beanies’ waist as if petting him.— But… You know? Lately I’ve been appreciating you more.
—And it shows. —Referring to how Steven mocked him sometimes.
—Oh come on, man, I do it to annoy you, I like when you get angry.
—Do you like me or something?
—Well, Steven likes you…! But don’t tell him or he’ll kill me…!
Dr. Beanies had never understood what he meant whenever he talked in “third person,” or if there really was another Steven exactly like him.
............
Did he just admit that he technically liked him?
…Even though it wasn’t the first time he joked about it.
—That’s the third time you’ve said that as a joke. I’m starting to think you genuinely like me! Though with this body, I can’t blame you…! Heh, heh, heh!
—You’re definitely not the best catch, especially appearance-wise.
—Then why do you appreciate me? —He finally turned toward him, Steven’s cold hands still wrapped around him.
—…Honestly, I don’t know. You’re incompetent, selfish, narcissistic, idiotic, miserable, ungrateful, and an imbecile, but even so… —He pulled him closer.— You have something that attracts me.
—Could it be because of all the timelines I’ve already traveled through?
—Maybe. In a way I can connect with those who achieve that, and that’s the main reason I brought you here… And you have no idea how much that messed things up.
—Are you still angry at me?
—Since the first day I met you.
—I can’t say anything, my opinion of you hasn’t changed either since you… Took my damn life away!
—You deserved it! Admit it!
—Over my dead body!
—Your corpse is currently being used as a host by a parasite!
—Lies!
—No, seriously, your corpse is literally possessed by a parasite.
—............ —That left him surprised and scared for a few seconds.— …I don’t believe you.
—But it’s true for the love of God!
—Prove it!
—I can’t.
—Then you’re lying!
—Uuugh you idiot!
He immediately let go of the hug and tried to hit Beanies.
But the doctor had already predicted that and barely dodged it, so he didn’t stay still and immediately counterattacked.
And just like that, they started fighting again.
Their favorite activity!
A minute and a half passed until they finally got tired.
Obviously, as always, the fight wasn’t going to lead anywhere. Dr. Beanies couldn’t die anymore, and Steven… was Steven.
So the two sat down on the viscous floor exhausted.
—Who taught you how to fight like that…? —a tired Steven provoked, though trying to pretend he wasn’t tired.— You fight like a girl…
—W-Well at least I dodged more than you did! —The doctor was almost out of breath but couldn’t let himself be intimidated by Steven.
—You’re lucky I can’t fly here! Otherwise I’d do the same thing I did when I killed you!
—I’m sure that if you couldn’t fly I would’ve beaten you.
—THEN WHAT IS THIS SUPPOSED TO BE!?
—I-I’m not done yet!
—YOU ARE, WITHOUT EXAGGERATION, THE MOST STUBBORN PERSON I’VE EVER MET IN MY LIFE!!
—I’ll take that as a compliment. —He gave the other a sly smile.
Which made Steven embarrassed and increased his desire to kill him again.
So he didn’t hesitate and lunged at him again even though he was still tired.
—I could suffocate you right now and send you into the void itself. —Steven answered angrily.
—Pff… Try it, I’d rather that than spending eternity here.
—Grrr…! —He hated him! He hated him with all his being!
His face, his body, his clothes, his personality!
He was the definition of human trash!
…But there was something, something about him that caught his attention beyond the hatred.
And that only made him hate him more.
Besides, the doctor wasn’t exactly helping either. He stayed completely still while staring at him provocatively even though he could easily kick or punch him to get him off.
There was something that made Steven want to kill him over and over again and also…
—…Fcuk it.
—Eh?
Suddenly Steven pressed his lips against Beanies’, completely catching him off guard.
But the doctor quickly got carried away by the kiss and without thinking twice grabbed Steven by the back to hug him and return the kiss.
They stayed like that for a long while until they separated because the doctor ran out of air.
—Grr........ —Steven couldn’t even look at Dr. Beanies because of how embarrassed he was, so he turned his head away, unable to believe he had actually kissed him. (Or rather, he regretted it.)
—…Heh, heh. —Meanwhile, the doctor had enjoyed it completely.— I didn’t know you kissed so well.
—Shut up, please.
—Make me.
The implication was obvious.
And Steven didn’t hesitate and kissed him again, but this time with more… confidence.
The kiss continued for a long time, stopping only a few seconds at a time to let the doctor breathe before continuing again.
At one point Steven finally got bored and decided to move elsewhere, kissing and licking the doctor’s neck.
Beanies sighed softly, trying to hold himself back so he wouldn’t seem too weak.
Even though that was exactly what Steven wanted.
And he had already gotten completely carried away by the situation.
—What’s wrong Thomas? Is this your weak spot? —He wore a huge grin just like the tiny version of himself on his head, now he was the one provoking.— Or is it because you’re simply old?
—…Technically I’m younger than you. —He answered with a sly smile.
And that once again made Steven hate him to death and want to smash his face into the floor over and over again. Nobody calls Steven old!
—After this I swear I’m going to drag your head across the floor and kill you again in the process. —Steven answered angrily.
—I didn’t know you loved me that much.
—And I hate it.
—Just say “I love you.”
—…I love you.
—I love you too.
This time it was Beanies who leaned in to kiss Steven while sitting on the floor.
Steven returned the kiss while also hugging his waist and moving his hands across the doctor’s back.
The two kept hugging and kissing for a long time until Steven was interrupted again by his cheater-friend and had to leave once more.
Though Dr. Beanies was already more than satisfied, so he didn’t complain too much.
That said, he would definitely have to think about how to interact with Steven once he came back, since after this peculiar… event, things definitely wouldn’t be the same as before.
