Chapter Text
The night arrives, and dinner passes faster than usual. It's simple sandwiches, with the ingredients being laid out on the table so everyone can pick what they like, so it's a pretty quick meal both to make and eat.
There's been a tension between Roy and Ult that both teens refuse to acknowledge, an uncomfortable silence between them that they ignore as they eat. Liko and Dot exchange a knowing look next to them, but they also say nothing as they eat.
When they've finished dinner, everyone always goes different ways — some go to bed, others go to clean up the table and kitchen. Thankfully tonight it's the adults’ turn to clean, so the teens can go ahead and relax for the rest of their time awake.
“Roy!”
The boy in question, who was walking down the hallway towards his room, turns around at the mention of his name. He sees Ult standing there, a blush in his face and determination in his eyes, and tilts his head as a sign for the boy to keep speaking.
“I’m sleeping in your room tonight!” Ult affirms, not even asking for permission anymore. He knows that Roy will put no opposition to his idea anyway, so he starts walking until he's standing next to the other and nudges him to keep going.
“Oh, yeah?” Roy asks, a teasing tone in his voice. “What, did you watch a scary movie or something?”
“Of course not!” Ult says, “I just wanna sleep there, your bed is mega-comfy!”
Roy hums, “I guess that's right, compared to the observation deck’s seats…” he murmurs, walking next to Ult as they both make their way to the bedroom.
They get to the bedroom, a surprisingly neat and organized place for a teenage boy. The only unkempt thing is the bed, now unmade from last night or possibly earlier in the day, but the rest of the room has the same pristine order as always.
Both boys sit on the bed, quiet as they stare out the window for a bit. The night sky is dark blue and purple, and the white stars are the only thing lighting up the room. The lights are off and Skeledirge is safe inside of his ball, so there's no other source of light other than the outside.
“Well,” Roy says, laying down on the bed with his arms behind his head, staring at the ceiling above himself. He waits for Ult to lay down as well, something that will definitely happen soon. “What did you do today?”
“Not much,” the other boy informs him, leaning back and laying down as well. Half of his body is thrown over Roy’s, a causal display of intimacy that they're both far too used to by now, yet Ult blushes at remembering the conversation with Dot. “You?”
“I talked with Liko,” Roy recounts, trying to remember any more meaningful details of his day and coming up with nothing. He does remember the conversation, and the desire to kiss the other boy comes back with even more strength than before. “Nothing else, I think.”
Both teens stay silent, looking away from each other with red cheeks. Neither of them teases the other, both too lost in their own thoughts and imagination as they let the awkward silence stretch on. They barely even notice it, mostly focusing on their imagination and the current chance that they can take.
“Hey,” Ult breaks the silence, looking up at Roy who hums at him. The quietness extends for a bit more before the boy groans to himself, not saying anything else.
“Skitty got your tongue?” Roy asks, smirking in a teasing manner once more. He's acting rather forward considering how nervous he feels inside, and he opens his mouth to speak again before he's interrupted.
Ult, not wanting Roy to tease him again and also tired of dancing around a looping melody, decides to make the first move. He moves his body a bit higher so his head can be on the same level as Roy’s, and very quickly presses his lips against the other's. It's sudden and rushed, as he immediately pulls away and looks somewhere else.
Roy simply gasps in shock, unable to say anything else as he touches his own lips with the tips of his fingers, trying to verify that it was a real thing that just happened. His face goes bright red once more, something that will apparently become a habit with how much it's been happening today, and he has to suppress a squeal from coming out of his throat.
“Ult,” he whispers, trying to get the boy's attention. He's smiling like an idiot now, trying his best to stay quiet and not bother anyone and Ult turns around, his cheeks doting a similar blush to Roy's.
He does it well this time, wrapping his arms around Ult’s upper body and pressing his lips against the other's for a bit longer, but still a quick kiss. Now he's not able to suppress his nervous laughter, looking away from Ult as he covers his mouth and giggles softly.
“Idiot,” Ult insults, his face bright red as well. He's smirking though, now more confident as Roy has confirmed that he liked the kiss, and pulls the boy's hand away from his mouth to kiss his smile once more. “You're mega-dumb.”
“Says you,” Roy laughs, now looking directly at his boyfriend. They're both a blushing, giggling mess, each other's first kiss even if it's a quick peck on the lips. “You were the one who did it first and then got nervous…”
“Dot told me to!” Ult defends himself, whisper-yelling as he lets out a quiet laugh of nervousness. He took the fall and landed well, and now that he's back on the floor he can't stop being all nervous and emotional.
“Really now?” Roy asks, being quickly shut down by yet another quick peck. He giggles a bit louder, catching onto Ult’s other intention with this. “Are you just doing this to shut me up now?”
“So what?” The other teases, an eyebrow raised, and is equally shut up by a kiss from Roy. “Don't use my tricks!”
They spend some more time just like that — giving each other quick kisses anywhere and giggling about it — before they eventually fall asleep, bodies intertwined and twisted to fit each other in the bed perfectly, almost as if they want to become one with each other.
